why do so many people ship other people with father figures

I do not want to ship shame, but I am always disappointed when I find a nice fic with a good premise, and bam the father figure shipping starts...

normally, I just filter, but in small fandoms, I like to rawdog it and do no filters and no tag check except for the relationship tags and I am always so disappointed when they pull this...

rn i am really into the Rangers Apprentice fandom, and they only have a little over a thousand fics, (i know that sounds like a lot but I think i have read the fics i find interesting in a week) and i hate it when they ship halt/will! Halt is such a dad in other fics and it just makes me feel gross....

Also, it makes a lot of sense because Anakin has technically only his mother's DNA, and a female only has X chromosomes and can't make a male on her own (XY chromosomes).

I cannot read Vader in the English way, I always read it in the Dutch way (in Dutch, vader means father), and in some Anakin redemption fics it can be soooo annoying! especially if it's a fic where Luke almost wants to call Vader his father, it feels like he already does!

Nothing tickles my brain as much as a good Lily and Remus friendship. Platonic soulmates James and Sirius are good, but platonic soulmates Lily and Remus are better. They are such a good duo, and they make most Wolfstar fics so much better!!!
