Junkus Minor - Protest. Track four of Inertia.
If you don't Sin,
then Jesus died for nothing.
pins collected by dr. hilda a. hidalgo during her years of lesbian activism, c. 1970s.
People bray, and shout, and scream They fight and rage against the machine. Yet fire still falls from the sky Mothers pray and children cry And voices are still silenced beneath the bloodstained sand and sun and snow, and tomorrow still torrents towards us from a strange and distant land.
Ima be honest, America lost our ability to protest.
Literally Nazis are fucking EVERYWHERE and everybody's rights are being smoothly stripped away. First it was trans rights, and then (just like we fucking told yall) they started going for gay people. They tried going for black people and women, but gays were there to back them up, so now they're taking us out. And yet, all anybody wants to do is spread "peace".
"Oh, I know, I'll email my local governor to complain about the newest legislation. He'll listen for sure." NEWSFLASH, picket signs don't hurt the government. Boycotts, maybe, but sitting on Twitter ain't doing shit.
Every day, I see dozens of people all "If they come for MY rights, I'm responding with force." And some fucking photo of them with guns or what have you. And then the fucking time comes to follow up on your word, and suddenly everybody's too afraid of punishment to do anything.
Do yall think Stonewall was a fucking PEACE MARCH? There's a reason we give out celebratory clay bricks every pride.
Literal SEGREGATION is back and all every "I'll fight for my rights" guy wants to do is tweet about it.
We need to start taking after France.
Wanted to bring attention to the fact that Bisan called for mass protests today (April 1st). It’s okay if you can’t march yourself, but please make it a point to spread this so that those who can march do so—and also take this as your own checkpoint to ask yourself if you’ve been faltering in terms of sharing information about Palestine, doing what you can to fund humanitarian aid in Palestine, and staying informed as to the ongoing genocide in Palestine. Some might say it has been 6 months of this, but to me that’s all the more reason to make noise now more than ever. This is one of very few spaces on the Internet where Palestine has not been abandoned in people’s endless efforts to dehumanize Arabs. Please continue amplifying the dialogue surrounding this genocide. Free Palestine. Free Palestins always.
This elderly woman was one of the leaders of demonstrations against the Vietnam War in 1968, when she was a student at Columbia University. Today, 56 years later, she returns to the same place and says, "Palestine must be free."
The police attacked pro-Palestine protesters in Ohio State University. The West that had been occupying and oppressing many people around the world has turned on its own people in a heartbeat.
They have also deployed snipers at the university.
I made this simple sticker design last night, it's available on a handful of other products too, found here but I think it mainly works as a sticker/maybe a magnet. You can find my full shop here.
As usual, ALL PROCEEDS from my designs are for my Palestinian best friend, to help him support his girlfriend in remaining safely in America until things calm down and to help his friends and family in Palestine and around the rest of the Levant who are being hurt directly and/or financially by the attacks on Gaza, the increasing Israeli raids in the West Bank and the collateral damage in surrounding countries. He will donate anything his family doesn't need to the Palestinian charities he works with.
These five designs have sold the best on stickers so far:
Thank you to everyone who has helped out so far!
One of you reached out to me and requested puzzles for some of my designs. At the time I added the one on the left since it was near a large enough resolution already. I just added a scaled up version of the design on the right as well, please forgive me for taking so long to get around to it. My newest design also has a puzzle:

I'm not really sure how a fundraiser like this should be considered under the strike, I'm going to keep sharing my stuff and leave it to your discretion when/if you want to purchase anything this week.
The designs above and many more can be found in my shop here. Each design is available on a lot of different products besides the default Redbubble shows you, click on each product or click on "explore designs" to see more options. I don't usually do puzzles since Redbubble demands super high resolution and is also really glitchy about fitting the images, but there's plenty of other things on there like shirts, stickers, notebooks, etc.
I will warn you that for the woman in keffiyeh print you may be able to tell that the scarf outline is digitally drawn and doesn't look exactly the same as the lines on the original print when viewed on a high resolution product like this. I think it still looks pretty good though.
Thank you to everyone who has helped out so far!
This design makes use of this open source photo from a photographer in Gaza. It can be found in my shop here.

I've advertised my stickers a lot recently, I'd like to take a moment to put more focus on some of the clothing designs available in my shop (as usual, ALL PROCEEDS are for my Palestinian best friend to support his loved ones, and he will donate anything his family doesn't need to the various charities he works with):
I'd also like to note that you can change the colors on most of the shirts, you don't have to use the defaults I have set.
My shop can be found here. Thank you to everyone who has helped out so far! Also thank you to whoever bought 82 stickers today! You are amazing!
I'm very sick this week so my fundraising shop may slow down a little bit, I'll do my best to keep at it. The friend I am fundraising for is so sweet, he and his partner have brought me food and tea and generally taken care of me so much despite all that they are going through with their families back home under attack. They're really good people.
Here's a quick overlay design I made with a Palestinian flag and a weathered paper texture, shown here on a sticker. You can find it on various products here. My full shop can be found here. All proceeds go to supporting my Palestinian best friend's loved ones through this war. He will donate anything they don't need to the charities he works with.
Here are a few other flag designs from my collection:

I just added 3 more variants of this design to my fundraiser, here are all 4 displayed on stickers. The moon and stars are NASA public domain content, the sunsets are public domain works originally posted to Wikimedia Commons. These are available on a wide range of other products as well, such as shirts, pins, posters and notebooks:

You can find my shop here. I have now set all my older designs not related to Palestine to private. Anything you see in the shop is part of the fundraiser. Redbubble will pick a popular product to display the art on, click on each to see more product options. You can also find all my designs here.
Here is a sample of some of my top sellers, shown on stickers:

I've been working very hard on my fundraising shop, and I just realized I have 100 designs now, in time for the 100th day of war. I plan to keep going until everyone my friend loves is safe and financially secure. Here are some of my designs (displayed on stickers):
You can find all my designs here. Redbubble will display them with a random product, click on each to see all product options (pins, shirts, stickers, bags, hats, etc). Edit: collections cap out at 100 products apparently, so from now on see my full range of designs here on my main page (I have temporarily removed all designs not related to Palestine).

He will donate anything his family doesn't need to the Palestinian charities he works with. He's been heavily involved in a lot of charity work (for Palestine and for other causes, he's one of those super nice people who's always trying to fix the whole world) for years and I trust him to put the money where it's most needed.
Thank you to everyone who has helped out so far!
I know people get really excited to see Palestine on old maps, because it's proof that it existed long before it was colonized. With this in mind I dug through the Wikipedia on Cartography of Palestine for my next fundraising design. This one is the 1769 Bachiene and Maas version, featuring "Palaestina". I overlayed it on an antique paper graphic to give it this look. I have two versions found here: with and without the flag overlay.

In light of the trial I wanted to share this design again, it seems fitting. I'm not very optimistic unfortunately but here's hoping something changes for the better. I miss seeing my best friend smile.

Trying something a little different today, here's my first attempt at pixel art. The design can be found here, it was made with stickers in mind but it is available on a lot of products.

Here are some examples of products with this design: a sticker, poster and pin. I'll probably try to make a few more pixel art things sometime in the next couple weeks and then put some of them together in a sticker pack for people who want small versions (extra tiny stickers seem to me to suite this art style well).
Thank you to everyone who has helped out so far! We greatly appreciate it.
Poppies are common in Palestine and are often used as a symbol, representing the colors of the flag and blood shed upon the land.

The watermelon first emerged as a symbol of Palestine after the six day war in 1967. Israel made public displays of the Palestinian flag illegal so Palestinians would try to circumvent the ban by using the watermelon, which has the same four colors. I just added a second watermelon design (left) to my shop (just a simple combination of open source assets, map made by Anditii Creative). Watermelons are also basically my best friend's favorite food, he gets SO excited for them in the summer, it's adorable. One of my favorite memories with him is when we impulsively bought a watermelon on our way out on a hike and ate the whole thing with our bare hands in a hollow in a tree. I didn't know then that the watermelon was also a symbol of his home. I'm glad it is, since it already makes me think of him.

I have seen a lot of people out protesting without masks. I want to point out that masks are not just for safety from illness! If you're at a protest that seems at risk of turning violent or being extra controversial in some way (being held in a hostile conservative area, for example) it is a very good idea to have a mask on you to avoid facial recognition software. Even if you don't do anything wrong there is always a chance law enforcement could give you a hard time for simply being in the wrong place at the wrong time (particularly if you are a minority).
Other useful tips: Keep your phone turned off or carry a burner, wear long clothes to protect from chemical agents (and cover identifying tattoos), bring water (to wash eyes and drink), don't post photos of people without their consent, avoid contact lenses and eye makeup (due to pepper spray), don't carry anything you wouldn't want to get arrested with (drugs, valuables, etc), avoid loose hair and jewelry that can get caught or grabbed, write down (maybe on your skin) or memorize contact info for people you are with.
This post was prompted because I noticed throughout my fundraising that I have not sold any masks. This is totally fine, I've made plenty of other sales and stickers usually have the highest margins anyway. I do hope this means most of you are using keffiyehs or masks you have left over from Covid though! It's good to be safe (I'm always nagging the friend I'm raising money for to take more safety precautions at his protests, haha).
Here is a small sample of some of the masks I have:
As usual, ALL PROCEEDS from these are for my Palestinian best friend, to help his girlfriend afford to join him safely in America and to help his friends and family in Palestine and around the rest of the Levant who are being hurt directly and/or financially by the attacks on Gaza, the increasing Israeli raids in the West Bank and the collateral damage in surrounding countries. All designs found here (Redbubble will show you a random product, click on each to see more product options such as masks, stickers, shirts, mugs, etc). I'm still adding new ones nearly daily.

The watermelon first emerged as a symbol of Palestine after the six day war in 1967. Israel made public displays of the Palestinian flag illegal so Palestinians would circumvent the ban by using the watermelon, which has the same four colors. I figured it was about time I added a watermelon to my collection, it seems like every shop in this niche has their own version of it. Also the friend I am fundraising for absolutely adores watermelon, he'll eat a whole big one a day during the summer. We grabbed one last second for a hike one time and ate the whole thing with our bare hands out in the woods, it's a really nice memory. So this seems extra fitting.

These stickers are edited photos of the keffiyeh my best friend gave me soon after things started up back in October.

My friend is such a sweet person and it's been heartbreaking seeing him so constantly stressed out and sad these past couple of months. It's been really nice to be able to at least help with the financial burden. Thank you so much to everyone who has helped out so far!
This poem, If We Must Die by Claude McKay was written during the Red Summer, 1919. It has since been adopted to represent many groups facing persecution. I pair it here with a field of poppies and a faint keffiyeh pattern, emblematic of the Palestinian struggle. I may make a more elaborate version in the future, I have some ideas. For now, this is available on stickers, shirts, prints, etc.
As usual, ALL PROCEEDS from this are for my Palestinian best friend, to help his girlfriend afford to join him safely in America and to help his friends and family in Palestine and around the rest of the Levant who are being hurt directly and/or financially by the attacks on Gaza, the increasing Israeli raids in the West Bank and the collateral damage in surrounding countries. Thank you to everyone who has contributed!
Trying something a little different here, at the recommendation of a friend. Some people use stickering as a form of activism, you've probably seen it for one cause or another if you live in a big city. Most of my stickers are mainly meant to look nice, but I thought I would change it up a bit and make an informational one, with that use case in mind.
As usual, ALL PROCEEDS are for my Palestinian best friend, to help his girlfriend afford to join him safely in America and to help his friends and family in Palestine and around the rest of the Levant who are being hurt directly and/or financially by the attacks on Gaza, the increasing Israeli raids in the West Bank and the collateral damage in surrounding countries. A few more typical sticker designs if that's more your thing:

A minimal poppy design, just an open source image with some lettering I thought would make for a nice water bottle sticker. This flower is common in Palestine and is often used as a symbol, representing the colors of the flag and blood shed upon the land.

For now his girlfriend is safe, plans are underway and we hope to see her here in not too long. His immediate family is safe for now. Some of his extended family are not doing so well unfortunately. We likely won't know the extent of the harm until things calm down a little. I will keep posts vague to respect his privacy, but the stuff in the West Bank has hit them quite hard. They've also lost some friends in Gaza.
You can buy the designs above on various products (shirts, stickers, etc) here and here. All designs found here (Redbubble will show you a random product, click on each to see more product options). Thank you to everyone who has helped out so far!
This is an edit of L'Heure du silence, an 1897 work by Henri Georges J. I. Meunier. I took a photo of my keffiyeh (a present from the same friend I am raising money for) and edited it to match the print. I also gave her a vintage key, a common symbol in the Palestinian struggle for the right of return (حق العودة), the principle that refugees have the right to return to the property they were forced off of.

For now his girlfriend is safe, plans are underway and we hope to see her here in not too long. His immediate family is safe for now. His extended family not so much unfortunately. We likely won't know the extent of how bad it is until things calm down a little. I will note that a lot of his loved ones who have been hurt are in the West Bank, not Gaza. If you have not been paying attention to the situation in the West Bank you should take a look, it's getting pretty bleak there too. I will keep things vague to respect his privacy.
