Experience Tumblr Like Never Before
If I see anyone ragging on Ncuti as fifteen in an instagram comment section again I’m gonna amputate hands and slash wind pipes because that man is a fabulous actor and I won’t hear otherwise
So sorry to keep going on about Doctor Who but I find it really interesting in the revival era (2005 onward) that it's always hammered home that the Doctor is the last of the Timelords. But it's almost never talked about that they are NOT the last of the Gallifreyan's.
Because we know that timelords are the high society dudes that went to college and are granted regenerations and all that. And yeah, when the Doc ended the Time War they destroyed all of Gallifrey, including all the regular people.
However, we seem to have forgotten the Sisterhood of Karn chilling on another planet.
They're basically the Gallifreyan equivalent to nuns and they protect the Sacred Flame and all that, but they're still around. The 12th Doctor even went to them looking for help during "The Magician's Apprentice", and they reappeared later that season in "Hell Bent."
So what I'm saying is even though Gallifrey was destroyed for the billionth time, we could have seen 13 go and hang out during the "Timeless Child" arc to try and recenter herself. Maybe 15 can go since he's so much more in tune with his past than previous incarnation.
Don't you hate it when your father is smelted and you have to carry his packed remains in a bank vacuum canister?
Also, Susan Twist again! And they know there's no way we could have missed her so many times because the next episode is an old woman following them around menacingly. Who is she, and what does she want?
Either 14 or 15 should offhandedly mention his wife like “my wife would have liked to see that” or something and the companion preset just stares at him before going “you had a wife?!”
While I think we all agree 15 finding rouge would be great I think we've all missed the opertunity to have 14 be disobayig Donna and finding a strange man being chased by birds to witch he grabs Said
"hey I think I found a missing companion of yours do you wanna come get him"
"what? Ive only got one companion and she's with me"
"oh so is the handsome man currently playing dnd with rose and Donna anouther river situation or-"
"ROUGE!?"
And so 15 just drags ruby over to the nobles house and ends up back with his boyfriend
Also if anyone writes this please share I would love to read it
"A companion piece."
Illustration concept I wanna do but it'd take way to long so-
have 2am whiteboard doodle I touched up today
So after Church on Ruby Road, what's everyone's theories on Mrs. Flood?
And the last, but not least, Fifteenth! Stylishly sitting for The Doctor × Posing
Don't remember if we saw any chairs in his TARDIS, so... I improvised a little...
Thank you, guys, for following this series with me, it was fun ^^
Stay tuned for other arts, little break for, probably, OCs and characters I wish I could call my OC, but they are picked from films for meeting in my and my bestie's stories 😌
Ok so might be my only post that’s not a repost or something but I don’t know and i need to talk about this
Also might contain spoilers to the new dr who episode
In both episodes dot and bubble and rogue their was no snow
None at all, I get dot and bubble because Ruby wasn’t really there until the exact end but why in rogue? I personally don’t have theories and also don’t know if I just missed it or not
So I think I figured out what Fifteen's problem is. Not as a flaw in the writing, mind. A flaw in the character.
Every New Who Doctor has been a reaction to the trauma of the Time War.
Nine raged
Ten ran
Eleven repressed
Twelve wallowed
Thirteen regressed
Fourteen finally admitted he had a problem and sought help.
And Fifteen, I'm certain now, relapses.
Fifteen started out doing great. All his trauma processed. Ready to face the world. And maybe at first it worked (though sadly we didn't get to see his many offscreen adventures with Ruby). But like... you don't stay better. You have to work at it. And he's very much not doing that.
There's a brittleness to his good cheer. Be it the gods of chaos, the loss of a lover, or his first real confrontation with racism, he doesn't deal with adversity very well. He breaks down, he hides, he acts like everything's fine. It's not fine though. He's not okay. He might've dealt with his problems, but he didn't equip himself with the tools needed to deal with new problems.
He's gonna crack eventually. We can already see it happening.

Okay… I liked that!
There were so many better, more organic ways to introduce Ruby’s search for answers about her bio family then that awkward time skip/ clip show. It could have just been two days. But that interview is just such a blatant excuse to dump her name, age, education level, the fact that she
Because here’s the thing…everything I liked about Ruby, I learned watching her go about her life. I liked watching her with her friends, be a real person. All of the other character work happened once she got to the house and I watched her with her mom and Cherry. We learn very naturally that she’s looking for her bio family, that she’s upset about not getting answers, but also is clearly happy with her family as it is. Her reaction throughout the entire kidnapping is weird, there’s not enough urgency on her behalf.
The gloves are cool? Like in theory, they’re cool, but I do think they get a bit marvel-ish at the end.n
The goblin ship design and interior set are cool, just doesn’t feel very Doctor Who. I like the explanation of how the goblins work though.
Doctor, I have seen you untie ropes with your sonic.
“I am learning the vocabulary of rope!”
The goblins are kinda unthreatening, they just let the Doctor and Ruby stand there. The goblins look good though, they did a good job combining practical and digital effects.
I wish that maybe Ruby felt guilty for being distracted that Lulubelle was kidnapped, (not that she should feel guilty, it would just give more emotional depth to her).
At first I didn’t like how rushed Ruby’s disappearance is, but I think it gives more disorientation to the episode. I love the lighting switch, how everything becomes desaturated. It’s very subtle and I didn’t notice it the first time. Carla’s sudden switch is horrifying.
The Doctor’s tears…I love how much compassion he has. This is the Doctor I love, that I’ve missed. I do wish that he and Ruby had gotten a quieter moment to bond, just to make this feel a little more desperate, and the reunion even sweeter.
The episode does feel like it has two climaxes, Lulubelle’s rescue and baby Ruby’s rescue. The rescue of Ruby does feel rushed and I still don’t understand the crack in the ceiling or why the ship just disappears.
Okay…Ruby Sunday. Millie Gibson is really fun. Her dramatic moments are also really well-acted. But…I was really hoping we’d be going back to the type of companion that’s just a person. Like Rory, Rose, Donna, Martha, and Bill. They all have extraordinary things happen to them yes, but they aren’t introduced as mysteries. That’s my least favorite type of companion, because their character is always secondary to the plot. And, I’m going to be honest, I don’t care who Ruby’s parents are. But…oh well.
I do love the scene of Ruby piecing together that the Doctor is a time traveller, and she just thinks that’s cool and wants to go see it, but like…most companions are like that to some degree. At least she has a family though, which is one of my favorite parts of companion stories.
Mrs. Flood could be a cool mystery.
Alright…Ncuti Gatwa is tied with my beloved Ninth doctor. He’s fun and flirty and heroic and empathetic. His theme music rocks. He can do angsty moments really well. I like how the Timeless child is being handled.
All in all, I’m excited for what’s coming.
Ncuti Gatwa has my favorite Doctor intro. No sadness of a fan favorite departing hanging over him.
There’s something new, something other than the Doctor being sick or erratic. (It worked for especially well for Ten because of the story and because it gives his eventual reveal so much weight, and it gives him 15 minutes uninterrupted to showcase the full-range of his character), but that doesn’t have to be the formula forever.
This time we get so much time with a genuinely kind, energetic, supportive Doctor who said, “it’s okay to take a break. And while you do that, get the one thing you never let yourself have, I’m going to go be amazing. He straight up says “sit down, I’ve got this”
For the first time since I originally watched Born Again, I felt like I made a friend.
I don’t want this incarnation to actually be some weird limbo version of the Doctor that’s going to eventually regenerate into 15, because that means you’re taking away the beautiful, wonderful positivity and kindness that Fifteen innately possesses. Gatwa’s doctor is just an incarnation that is born ready to finally let go of angst and sadness that has defined the last two decades of the show.
Someone he loves (his past self) is going to take care of themselves and heal, and that’s what makes him okay. He’s not ‘fixing’ anyone, he’s not ONLY there to help. He wants to head back out into the stars immediately (well, evidently the club) and he does. As he should.
Fifteen is absolutely the Doctor. The Doctor who is kind and beautiful and fun from the word go. I can’t wait to watch his adventures.
Fourteen, for me, will forever be the Doctor in a garden telling stories and basking in the love of his family that he always wanted and finally has and can sneak his family off for low-stakes, but no less magical adventures. No future regenerations, no merging with Fifteen later down the line, no becoming the Valeyard.
If that’s not what the intent was…honestly I don’t care. If that’s what is revealed later… honestly I will probably ignore it.
Fourteen is explicitly told to just sit down for awhile, so I don’t feel like he’s hanging over 15. But if David comes back, I’ll still be in for a phenomenal performance of a wonderful incarnation of a character I adore, by an extremely talented actor who loves the show as much as any fan because he is one, and one who is getting the chance to continually fulfill his greatest childhood dream.
The specials are not perfect, but I can connect with them in a way I haven’t been able to connect to the show in a long time. There was a real focus on character again, something I personally enjoy in storytelling.
If that isn’t what you like, that’s fine. My opinions are just that, and by definition can’t be right or wrong.
Doctor Who is science FICTION. It is an endless web of retcons and contradictory lore. It is a show where an alien ship that fits an entire dimension inside of it, that can travel anywhere in all of time and space, looks like a police box and requires a key.
Sometimes I don’t need it to make perfect sense. Sometimes I just want to watch a character I love get something nice after being saved emotionally by his awesome queerplatonic bestie and his happy, supportive mitosis brother!
Sometimes the real world is hard, and I just want a happy ending in my escapism.
QUICK REVIEW OF NEW DOCTOR WHO EPISODES:
Ncuti Gatwa is bringing us a joyful Doctor who is happy to be alive, and honestly, that is so wonderful and brings me such joy. Ruby Sunday is also just a delight, and I can't wait to see how her story progresses. Space Babies was a fun silly story that I liked (although whatever cgi they used to make the babies talk weirded me out). The Devil's Chord was ICONIC and just filled me with glee. Jinkx Monsoon is such a wonder, and I absolutely adored the Maestro. I'm so happy to see Doctor Who that is fun and exciting again. This might be blasphemy, but Ncuti Gatwa is taking over the role of my favorite Doctor. Move over David Tennant, there's a new guy in town and he is THE COOLEST. Can't wait to see more.
Thoughts about the Doctor Who Christmas special:
This episode was SO FUN. It was sweet, funny, but above all, this shit was GOOFY. I think doctor who is at its best when it doesn't take itself too seriously. This episode had goblins in a big pirate ship and the Doctor doing a musical number. It was so silly and I loved it. The Doctor is finally allowed to have fun and serve cunt, as God intended. Ncuti is so cool and is already becoming my new favorite doctor. Ruby is super cute and spunky. I can't wait to see more of both of them.
i never draw real people so this one was a STRUGGLE
The different doctors count as different people cause I say so.
15- lead singer
Ruby- key board and backup vocals
12- guitar
Bill- bass
13- drums
River- backup signer
Yaz- security
Martha- manager and medic
Rose and Jack- groupies
Donna- handles the money
Don't ask where this idea came from it kinda feels like a fever dream.
Yessssss!!
And based on the teasers, Rogue is going to be another very doctor who camp episode, so I can’t wait!!
I feel like each episode of the new doctor who series has been better than the last, like at first I was a little concerned, but now each episode just feels like pure doctor who.
Just my opinion, but I really enjoyed 73 yards and Dot and Bubble, and I’m excited to see what happens next!

accepting the fact that i’m about to read doctor who fanfics in the year of our lord 2023 for THE FIRST TIME is quite the harrowing experience
The TARDIS is sick of the Doctor forming toxic relationships with companions and she is not relinquishing control of the jukebox.
obsessed with the Doctor making a promise he can’t keep, kissing Belinda’s hands, and then Toxic by Britney Spears immediately blasting over the TARDIS radio.
yes TARDIS. you have accurately assessed the dynamic there for sure
