Michael Wolf: Tokyo Compression (2008)
Kendall also seems to be the only sibling who hasn't spent much time living outside of new York as an adult (except spending 6 months in Shanghai for waystar, but I think that was to prove to his dad he can still do the work after rehab) I think his dad maybe dangled the carrot of the future CEO in front of his face for so long and kept him close for most of his life. They way that Logan goes about Kendall's addiction both from the little we get about his past and how he takes the relapse throughout the seasons; in the back of my mind I think that logen didn't really have too much of a problem with the drugs as long as Kendall wasn't dead or embarassing the company (either from not being able to work or a very public part lifestyle). Other than that aslong as he did what logen wanted him to do, it wasn't a big deal. I mean logen pulled Kendall out of rehab after less than a day in s2e1 because he needed him to appear on TV.
There's also been a lot spoken of logens possessiveness, both of the company be built and the people around him. Kendall for the longest time being his most likely heir to his empire; he kept him close and under his thumb protecting and maturing what could be his biggest investment. I also think logen battled with the letting go of his other baby, waystar to someone who definitely hasn't work as hard as him. Handing other the empire he built from the ground up to some rich kid who was handed everything. In season 1, I saw him fight tooth and nail to keep waystar under his full control even if it meant burning Kendall and once he did then he went back and got his 'kendall'.
Ugh ugh ugh Logan's way of always sending Roman off somewhere to keep him occupied, like St Andrews or LA or management training or the deal with Eduard where he got held hostage and so on, while he keeps Kendall up in a tower with only him for company, and I'm imagining them as kids with Roman intruding on their "special moments" together and Logan being like, "do you mind? Fuck off."
fuck yeah!!! Yes greg abandoned his inheritance to play for Logan's team, but that also means that greg has lots some of his leverage with his uncle because his also given up the board seat we would have gotten from his grandfather. Greg is soft, easily manipulated, inexperienced and seems to focused on the superficial side of wealth rather than the power, reach and major influence. i think Logan brought Greg into the inner circle yes as another 'Roy' at the table, a loyal family member, a lacky under Tom and but most of all to piss-off his brother that Ewan's grandson his working for him especially at ATN which ewan hates. Logan knows greg is just there for the money and for himself and would never be a loyal as tom; Greg would never sacrifice himself to go to prison for Logan.
Logan was willing to fuck Roman, shiv and Kendall all at once' he would think nothing of fucking over Greg. A lot is going to happen in season 4, pieces will be moved, alliances formed and destroyed, and people need to play their hands carefully and properly ; and Gregory hasn't been playing for very long. Gregory is going to make one wrong step and i think even tom wouldn't think twice about fucking over greg
oh the post is about. okay. yeah I totally didn't read this title and think it was about greg having sex with tom

He didn't suddenly love his son after he killed that waiter. Logan saw a great opportunity to use it to manipulate Kendall into giving up the bear hug and come back to Logan's side. Logan knew all the right buttons to press; sending in very intimedating Collin to fetch Kendall from breakfast, wearing his 'dad is here for you' jersey, mentioning the key card the police found at the crime scene, mentioning that this could define his entire life. Then the final blow l, 'daddy will fix it, daddy will make it all go away'. Logan's number one boy is who ever needs to hear that at that moment to get what Logan wants from them. "You're parent know the right buttons to push, because they sowed them on" and that scene was a masterclass in parental manipulation of a situation. If Logan saw more benefit for him in selling Kendall out to the police, I think he would have

Immoral Women / Les héroïnes du mal (1979) | Dir. Walerian Borowczyk
“Marceline”
something about the scene always makes me smile. So cute.
You are Connor Roy, and you are the only child of one of the most powerful men in the country. Your father eclipses everything in your life, and you are rarely denied anything. Anything that is, but his time. There are nannies for that after all. You are raised to believe that the business he is building before your very eyes is your birthright. You're a little fidgety, true - a little bit soft. Your mother will sometimes rest her forehead on yours and call you a dreamer. You think she means it as a good thing, so you aren't sure why she says it so sadly.
You are Connor Roy and when you're 10 years old, your mother decides that she's had enough of everything you've ever known. She takes you with her to find "something different, something real." She calls it the adventure of a lifetime, but the faraway look in her eyes when she grasps your shoulders like a lifeline makes your stomach turn. So what does your old man do to get you back? What does he do with all that power his friends are always reminding you of? Absolutely nothing. With every day you spend without him, the reality of who your father is seeps into your bones and you feel real fear for the first time in your life. The reality is that being soft will not be tolerated and that family is only what Logan Roy says it is. The reality is that you are weak, and your father would never fight for a weak boy.
You are Connor Roy and when you're 13 your mother is carted away to a place upstate. No one asks if you'd like to visit her, but your father scoops you up and tries to sit you on his knee the way he did when you were younger. You're much too big for that now though, awkwardly sliding off and sitting next to him instead. She's a psycho he says. She put you in danger he says. Part of you is furious. Part of you is seething at him for saying that, for abandoning you, but mostly you feel relief. For the first time in three years you have more than enough food to eat and are not constantly worried that the alimony check will be spent on booze and pills. Your father, for all his faults, is sturdy and secure. He's your old man and he came back and this time he'll be all the strength you need.
You are a twenty year-old Connor Roy and you are peering into the eyes of your replacement. They're dark, not like yours, but the tufts of hair peaking out from the blanket that swaddles him remind you of your own. You hold him in your arms and he peers up at you, a soulful gaze that sucks you in until you're completely lost. Spellbound, you pull him a little tighter and sink into the nearest chair. You should hate him, you know, but the idea of hating someone so small makes you sick. In those eyes you can see the same promise your father probably sees; This one doesn't have a crazy mother in the middle of nowhere, this one is a clean slate, this one can be strong when all you can be is weak. Holding that newborn in your arms you resolve not to fight as your birthright is snatched by a tiny thief - to instead cling to this new, better family your father is building and to build them up in return. After all, family is what Logan Roy says it is.
You are Connor Roy and you do what you can. You stay present, stick around when you could be off making something of yourself. You give yourself to them in little ways, in ways you wish Logan had given himself to you. You take your little brothers on fishing trips, you let your baby sister climb on top of your back and dig her heels into your kidneys as you crawl on the hardwood. But part of you will always want to be as far from your father and his overbearing presence as you can. The houses you have built are always rural, always quiet and lonely, everything that Logan Roy isn't. You don't want to think about why that is. When you aren't there you know he pits them against each other, you know that they're starting to claw the weakness out of each other. The love you offer them is met with derisive snorts and rolled eyes - they become more like your father than you could ever dream to be. You're left behind, abandoned again, deluded and desperate in thinking that someone - anyone - could love you the way you need.
I think it's going to be Connor's season to shine. All his siblings are out of Daddy's good books, waystar and logen are making money movies and restructuring the trust, man's is getting married. I feel like Conner has had enough of his siblings messing things up (the rebel alliance) and is going to get his promised bag as his rightful place as the oldest son.
Teaser trailer fuck yeah let’s look at costumes!
Everybody’s favourite reprehensible people show is ready to tease us, let’s see what we can glean from the attire, shall we? The resolution is Twitter shitty, and I’ve pumped up the chroma so we can see colour themes on the blurry pile of screen caps, but let’s go anyway!
First: Team Logan. He’s still in the blue and blue squares we’ve come to recognise as being his attire of loyalty signalling. Hope you choke on your cheesecake, Logan! The Egg and the Egg Sucker got dressed together over FaceTime. Note the entire room of core yes men and women cloaked in blue, and Gerri is wearing PANTS, which is such a radical departure for her I worry for her mental health. But she’s also rocking a punk for her triple ear piercing (J Smith Cameron’s IRL ear piercing), and I’ve decided to imagine Roman talked her into that at some point. Kerry in a blue suit version of her Italy pink suit says, “Who’s got the supermax pussy grip now, Marcia? I’m bringing Business Pussy. His favourite.” I am vomiting up my lunch. That purple circle is possibly Laird! Bring back Laird! Logan also addresses his blue and grey company drones, with a beige assist from Cyd Peach.
Now let’s deal with Team Progeny:
ALERT! Roman’s wearing his Probably Fucked Gerri In An Alternate Universe YACHT SHIRT. But also a little piece of flair on his right wrist. What does it mean Miley Screaming dot gif?! I wish I could see his pants. Roman’s always been blue too, but the fact he’s holding on to his blue status despite being booted from the Waystar nest? He’s still bootleg Logan, and still connected in his heart and mind. Gerri in blue, Roman in blue. Can you feel the YEARNING? Connor in blue, no surprises there. Shiv still dragging her beige behind her from season 3, only she’s added some Kendall signature brown to indicate her emotional landscape is fucked. Kendall is still skulking in Earth tones, pretending he’s in touch with planet earth. They’re in LA and Shiv is happy about it. That pink room in (presumably) some LA house! That pink karaoke bar! Just when you thought Roman’s undershirts couldn’t get sluttier than Italy, somebody put this one on a really hot wash and now it’s so tight we have no choice but to jerk off suffer. Is he feeling constricted, or sexy? Why not both? Undershirt plus business pants including belt is basically Roman’s pyjamas, so his moody hot beverage on a balcony enjoyment tracks with that. Roman, you’d better be on the phone to Gerri (10-20% chance he is) and I’d love it if that bracelet was somehow meaningful in a wanting Gerri to love you way, but I’m not holding my breath. But your long distance couples costuming has been noted!
Bets on which song Connor makes them sing at karaoke? And how much peer pressure will it take to make Roman join in? If it’s We Are The Champions I will catapult myself into the sun. I have a feeling Gerri might be living some season 1 plot deja vu.
Bonus: Excited for Norway!
