Here me out, fic idea:

Regulus, Remus and Pandora are all theatre kids, Pandora and Regulus were already besties previously, all three audition for a play (Hamilton obviously). They all get accepted, who plays which character? Regulus-Hamilton, Pandora-Eliza, Remus- Burr. Anyway so they all become besties because like they're all in the play together so they're in close proximity and all three have major rolls. When the time comes to perform the play Sirius who hasn't seen his brother in years and is just there to support Remus is forced to sit there for like three hours and watch his brother that he abandoned absolutely slay at being Hamilton, James is just like watching in awe because he has never met Regulus and Sirius doesn't tell him it's his brother so he's just drooling over Regulus the entire time. Lily, who went to support her bestie Remus, is drooling over Pandora because we love pandalily. Barty and Evan are just at the back of the audience cheering on Regulus and Pandora (they end up getting kicked out for being too disruptive). I haven't really thought any further about this tbh, maybe I'll continue it on eventually.

au where james and regulus have been dating since high school. their relationship started to get rocky during their law (james) and med (reg) school years. one night, during one of their most heated arguments, james decided to take a break and leave for a while, where he ended up in a car accident that left him unconscious for three days. when he finally woke up, he had no recollection of anything. overwhelmed by guilt, regulus asked their friends and family to refrain from reminding james of their relationship.

regulus packed everything that could remind james of their relationship and moved out of their home. he focused on graduating from med school and kept a distance from james. then during his first year of residency, james was rushed to the emergency room by his boyfriend to the hospital where regulus was working.

regulus was attending to another patient when he heard james’ boyfriend screaming for help. as he tended to james, James suddenly felt a sense of familiarity and asked james if they had met before. regulus quickly denied it and handed him over to an intern. ever since that encounter, james has been unable to get regulus out of his mind. he has made it his mission to learn more about him and uncover if regulus is one of the things he had forgotten. that’s when he stumbled upon an old polaroid photo of them beaming at each other, with regulus showing off his engagement ring.
