life hacks for not being able to function
most of these are reminders for me but feel free to use them
if you don't feel like takin a shower, stick your head under the faucet and just wash your hair. i do this a lot and it helps feel a little bit cleaner
if you don't want to leave the house, it's good to get exercise. walk some laps around the house/ your room.
give yourself 1 thing at a time to do. take it slow
brush your teeth! if you don't shower or change clothes today there's no permanent damage but if you don't brush your teeth there is.
stretch! do some simple stretches, it can wake you up and give you some exercise
wear your fancy clothes. if im feeling gross and icky on the inside it cheers me up to have fun and dress up nice. wear your favorite clothes whenever you want.
do your laundry. it doesn't take long, and clean clothes feel really nice. bonus: don't want to do it? hide your clothes in a family members basket of laundry and they'll do it for you.
text someone you love or care about. gets your mind off of stuff. definitely a mood booster.
call someone. just talking to someone over the phone makes you feel like you're doing something.
if you have pets- cuddle them! spending some cuddle time with a cat or dog is really nice.
make lists- maybe it's your favorite flowers, or places you want to visit. but it's a fun pass time. also you can look up the things on your lists and learn new stuff.
open the window! let some fresh air in. in the summer ill sit and stare outside for a while every day. if you can't open a window just pull the curtains back and let in some natural light too.
eat healthy snacks. try to have granola bars on hand, they're tasty and good for you. and they come in a ton of yummy flavors.
that's basically it, add on anything if you want! these are just tips i have from my experience. im not at all a professional or therapist or anything. just a sad kid jfhsjab.

i have seen so many posts that are “depression tip” posts and lemme tell ya
good lord
it’s a whole lot of “shower. seriously it’ll help. clean your entire fckin house, less clutter. cook yourself a four course meal cuz food” but when depression gets bad, like to the point where you can’t get out of bed, i feel you. so for those moments where you really can’t move,
° stretch. you don’t have to stand. you can stay laying down, roll your ankles and your wrists, stretch those legs, maybe pull up your knees if you’ve been laying flat. no standing necessary.
° put your hair up. having it in your face and on your neck can be uncomfortable. you don’t even have to brush it, just get it up
° if you keep water by your bed, drink a few sips. you don’t have to chug it or go buy some fancy lemon water, take a few sips. if you don’t have water by your bed and you live with someone, text them to bring you a bottle of water
°if you keep food in your room like i do for moments like these and it’s been a while since you’ve eaten, take a few bites of a granola bar. if you don’t have food ask said person to bring food with the water
°music. chances are you have your phone with you. for me, music is an outlet. if it helps you, use it
°brush crumbs off your sheets. trust me it feels way cleaner. take off your dirty clothes. you don’t have to change them you can just slip em off and toss em. now you have cleaner sheets and no more dirty clothes and chances are you’ll feel more comfortable
° rest. sleep if you can. this shit takes a lot of energy, you’ll need as much sleep as you can get
° if you have someone to turn to/ if you have the energy to text or call someone, do it. it’s said a lot but i really am here for you guys. reach out to someone. you do not have to fight this alone
