One thing about Shauna and her beef with Mari is that she wants to be respected and worshipped and if she can't have that she want people to fear her. And Mari never did either. Mari never worshipped her nor felt like she had to walk around eggshells around Shauna like everyone else did. She didn't pity her. And she wasn't scared of her. Which is kind of stupid at times, but also really telling. The others saw Shauna as if she was the Terminator, but Mari always saw her as a pathetic teenage girl with a lot of insecurities. Which is how Shauna feels deep down and it drove her mad, having someone whose very presence reminded her of those insecurities. And she becomes leader and and Mari still wasn't afraid of her! She becomes Nat's biggest supporter instead! Nope, she never showed her fear toward Shauna. Not even when she was hunted. She was afraid of dying. Not of Shauna. Mari didn't even give Shauna the pleasure of looking her in the eye when she put the necklace on her. Shauna never had the treat of seeing fear in Mari's eyes. Instead Mari tried to take her out with a knife and then told Shauna off one last time, telling her she deserves everything (bad) that's gonna happen to her.
No respect. No fear. Ever. The only time Shauna could have any control over Mari was after Mari was dead. Which says a lot about Mari as a person.
YELLOWJACKETS 3x09 SPOILERS
“how could melissa do that to van!!??!” idk probably because van was totally chill about shauna breaking into her house and van tied her up and then saved everyone in the house and came back in just to stand over melissa with a knife and talk about how she wanted to kill her but couldn’t. like idk if i was melissa id probably do the same thing. what was she gonna do? sit there and wait for van to get a grip and kill her? stay in the house and wait for shauna to kill her? leave van alive and try to run away, probably resulting in van killing her as she fled? van is my favorite character and i’m devastated that she’s dead but… what did you expect melissa to do in that situation? lay down and die?
Coach Ben: I wanna show you a picture from last night that really upset me
Nat: Ok, but in my defense Shauna bet me 50 cents I couldn’t drink all that shampoo
Coach Ben: That’s not what I wanted to- You drank shampoo?
Mari what are you doing using gaywad as an insult? Look at your team
I started Yellowjackets recently (yes, I'm always super late at fandoms) because I saw a lot of content about it, especially about jackieshauna and other non-canon wlw ships and I tought that maybe people were esagerating about all of the characters soo queer coded (since complicated and well written lesbian/sapphic characters are kind of rare) but holy shit you weren't joking, this really is the cannibal lesbians show I've never been so happy to be wrong
babe are you okay i saw you posting without tags again
They had to kill off Laura Lee.
Otherwise Lottie would be all "Oh the wilderness said all the blankets are for Laura Lee." "No one eats until Laura Lee does."
People expecting a character like Caitlyn who has shown so many times her clear disdain for communicating her feelings verbally, to have lengthy conversations and never ending apologies for everything she has done wrong is a bit disappointing.
Caitlyn is a politician’s daughter. She knows that words are always there to smooth the rough edges of the conflict or to make promises that another age won’t see coming to fruition and, essentially, mean nothing without the action following.
People offer their sympathies and she just doesn’t acknowledge their words, Cait just moves past it and changes the topic or tries to make up a plan to just do something, to fix and salvage.
She shows, not tells.
She doesn’t say a word as she rushes to bring her father in a tight embrace after being on the brink of death and allowing herself to stay like that for a few moments with a person she thought she’d never see again.
She doesn’t say a word as her eyes are slowly drifting lower as if preparing herself to face yet another of her mistakes that she can’t erase. She’s reaching out to gently graze her fingers over an injury and the spot that she hit the person who she loved so much in, sorrow and remorse all over her face.
She doesn’t say a word as she puts every obstacle out of Vi’s way to make sure that nothing would stop her to free Jinx: to free the person who tormented her mind even before she knew her name, to get her out of the cell and out of the punishment Caitlyn was determined to bring on her with all the rage and ferocity of a grieving daughter.
She doesn’t say a word as she gives up her inherited sit in the Council for a Zaunite who she faced in a fight that she barely got out of alive by sheer luck and is there to represent the interests and stand for the rights of the city she poisoned and regarded the residents of with a loss-reinforced contempt and prejudice.
Why would she need to say anything when she shows so much?
And why would you, as a viewer, rob yourself of the opportunity to appreciate the nuance of the character like that?
