Growing up, you hadn’t realized the orphanage that you had resided in had a secret purpose. Most kids who were too young or too new didn’t know. At least, until you showed potential or until you grew up just enough to realize that there was a competition held among some of the top children in the House.

It was a test of intelligence, of wits. Of cleverness and survival.

You learned about L and his legacy.

You learned about the rivalry between Near and Mello (weird names in hindsight, but you couldn’t really say anything about yours).

But the thing that really affected you the most after that sudden realization was this:

Nothing changed.

If near wrote mikami’s name in the deathnote would that make him more ruthless than L?

I know that in Near’s profile in HTR13 it’s suggested that he could be more cold-blooded than L, but I personally still think it’s the other way around. While I can see why someone would say that nothing L did would be as ruthless as writing a person’s name in the Death Note yourself, I have a hard time seeing Near as worse when you look at the full picture.

Both certainly are quite pragmatic and willing to make sacrifices. But when I think of one of the very first things L did (letting Kira kill someone live on TV) and the last thing he planned (using the Death Note on an execution), I see someone who’s much more ready - and used - to use human beings as pawns.

Especially when I also contrast L considering letting Matsuda die when he infiltrated Yotsuba vs Near communicating very clearly with his team, even giving them the chance to cop out of certain dangerous missions. Near certainly seems more considerate.

Also, I can’t think of any reason why L wouldn’t write someone’s name in the Death Note, if he were in a similar situation. Personally, I see him arranging Misa’s torture as bad enough. And since we’re in the realm of speculation; the one thing I can see that could lead Near to be more cruel than L, would be that he seems more emotionally invested in the case.

But I don’t think that Near is, at his core, more ruthless or cruel than L.

Lavender Dreams Sims Save File!

Hey guys! I’ve been working on a new save file for a while and its finally completed! This started off as me wanting to replace my old save file for personal use but other people was interested so here we are! ALL PACKS NEEDED! This is a CC-Free save! *download link at the very bottom of post* Lots: - Only 1 lot was created by me, all the others lots are from the gallery with the creators origin id in the description of the lot. I don’t take credit for any of the builds - All lots have been replace, except for : 3 apartments in San Myshuno (my game freezes whenever I try to enter BB mode in them so be careful, others haven’t had that problem so it maybe my game) The apartments in Evergreen Harbor (I liked them as basic starter apts) and 3 lots in Windenburg (the ruins, the buff and the house with the maze in the back) - Every world has at least 1 starter and other affordable houses - There are a few houses and apts that are unfurnished - Every world has at least 1 restaurant so dine out is definitely a must have - There is a wide arrange of spas, country clubs, restaurants, gyms, coffee shops, bowling alley/arcades, parks, etc. - I tried to make sure a lot of lots are family friendly Households: - Every pre-made got a makeover by me! - There are a few new households (thank you macvsp, xSimmyTeex, and @nomorebadtownies) - There is at least 1 new household added to the bigger worlds I also added some new holidays, I plan to add more sims and clubs to the save but that will be later. I would love any suggestion you have, I plan to keep this save file updated as much as possible!

“Young master. What’s wrong?”

Through his tears, Nie Huaisang looks up to a soft gaze and a smile as gentle as the spring breeze. “Meng Yao,” he says, voice keening, dragging, at the second syllable.

Meng Yao’s mouth curves, dimples deepening at the corners. Every meeting with Nie Mingjue leads to the same thing—Nie Huaisang weeping over a fresh lecture for his “frivolous” hobbies. He closes the gap between the door and the bed where Nie Huaisang lies, curled in a ball, knees to his chest.

“Did Sect Leader Nie reject the bigger cage for Xiao Qi?” he asks, softly, lowering to the edge of the bed.

Nie Huaisang nods, hiccupping. “He said—he said the small one is already a waste of space as it is…”

Meng Yao hums. His fingers reach out to brush hair off Nie Huaisang’s face. “I’m sorry, young master. Perhaps I can put in a word for Xiao Qi the next time I speak with your brother?”

“Will you?” Nie Huaisang’s eyes are big, his lips parted and trembling. In his cage, Xiao Qi bounces on the bar and lets out a little trill. “I don’t know what I’d do without you, Meng Yao!”

“You’d do perfectly well,” Meng Yao says. He presses a kiss to the crown of Nie Huaisang’s head, breathes in the scent of lavender incense and fresh-baked pastries. Sweet as Nie Huaisang’s smile as he looks up at Meng Yao through glistening lashes.

Meng Yao’s heart does a little flip.

It’s that same smile that makes Meng Yao—no, Jin Guangyao now—shiver with anticipation every time Nie Huaisang returns to consult him on sect matters. Makes his breath grow ragged when Nie Huaisang, teeth bright and eyes still ever so big, pins him to the wall of the conference room to mouth his jaw, the curve of his neck.

Times like these, Meng Yao feels sorry for murdering Nie Mingjue. For causing the lines on Nie Huaisang’s forehead, the wet trails down Nie Huaisang’s cheeks.

Only at times like these.

Mello: I just wanna go over there, grab Near, and kiss him. How can I kiss him and not let him know that I like him?
