The Valley Song

The Valley Song

Requested: nope, I just wanted to write this

TW: just Coriolanus’ being himself.

Pairing: possible Coriolanus x reader, Sejanus x reader, Lucy gray x platonic!reader

Authors note: Listen to this for the story. I imagine this is what the reader sounds like when singing <3, I’m also changing the lore a little to the reader wrote the valley song to fit the story :)

Part 2

The Hob was filled with people as usual. The crowd of people made the heat even more unbearable, but everyone arrived to hear the Covey preform as always. The summer heat caused sweat to drip down everyone’s faces, but no one seemed to mind as they awaited the Covery to preform.

Drinks were being passed sound eagerly as the members of the district awaited the sound of the music and voices that allowed them to escape just for a few hours.

Coriolanus Snow stood towards the back of the Hob, Sejanus by his side as they spoke to his bunkmates, what were their names? Smiley and Bug. Such stupid names, Coriolanus thought he to himself as he leaned against the back, unsecured wall of the hob.

It wasn’t always his first idea of what to do in their night off, but then again they were in District Twelve
there wasn’t much to do to begin with.

Coriolanus’ attention was turned back to the stage as eager whoops and applause filled the Hob as Lucy Gray and the rest of the Covey made their way on stage.

With their clothes and make up, the girls had flowers entangled in their hair. It made it seem like they had rolled around in a field before coming up on stage. It was intriguing, but very much district, and it made Coriolanus internally scowl.

The covey continued to play for a few hours, rotating songs and singers. Giving each other a break, Maude Ivory sang for a while before Lucy Gray returned. Of course she held the audience in a captivated gaze at the sound of her voice.

Coriolanus and the other off duty peacekeepers were no exception as she twirled around the stage with her black guitar in hand. It was a sight, certainly one that would make her plenty of money if she came with him back to the capital. She would make a pretty capital girl, once she was cleaned up and better fed at least, Coriolanus thought.

The end of the night was winding down, and everyone was exhausted from the dancing over the last few hours. Lucy Gray panted softly before approaching the microphone once more.

“District Twelve ya’ll have been amazing as always,” she said with the biggest grin, like it was a privilege to be preforming at the Hob in the lowest district in Panem.

“And just before we go for the night we got a special treat. My cousin Y/N Rose Baird! She got an awful special song for y’all tonight to finish us off.. y/n!” Lucy gray turned and beckoned her cousin up front.

A girl, maybe not much older than Lucy Gray, maybe a year or two stepped up wearing a pink blouse and off white skirt, her hair was done half up, help of what looked like baby’s breath through her hair.

Coriolanus’ eyes widened a bit at the side of her, the soft rouge on her cheeks and pink on her lips. It was soft. Not harsh make up like Lucy gray had worn, but very little.

“Oh wow
” he heard Sejanus’ voice beside him, and for a moment he had completely forgotten he was there, “she’s beautiful,”

Sejanus was right though. This Y/N Rose was beautiful. Even from the way that she held the old brown guitar in her hands, everything about her intrigued him. The softness in her eyes and expression. Glancing around the room, he felt a hot jealously spring through him as he saw many of the other men looking at her the same way.

They didn’t deserve to look at you that way. You were too gentle, too soft and vulnerable. He could tell by just looking at you. The shy way you were glancing around the room. You preferred the background, and he liked that.

Lucy gray was always upfront, bold. Abrasive. But that wasn’t you. You weren’t like your cousin, who had killed in the games, you would never hurt anyone. And you needed protecting. He could do that.

“Thank y’all for comin’” Y/N’s voice rang into the microphone and he couldn’t help but stare. In the corner of his eye he could see Sejanus almost making heart eyes.

“This is a song I wrote a little while ago. Lost someone as we all have. Hope y’all like it,” she said nervously before she gently began to strum the guitar in her hands. One note after another. Then she began to sing.

“Down in the valley, valley so low,

Late in the evening, hear the train blow.

The train, love, hear the train blow.

Late in the evening, hear the train blow.”

Coriolanus felt like he was in a trance as she began to sing. Her voice was soft and airy, almost shy. It was so different to Lucy Gray. Though his mind snapped out of his thoughts as Lucy Gray found her way over to him with a grin.

“Hi! Good ain’t she?” She asked happily, rather proud of her cousin.

“Good isn’t the word for it,” Sejanus said, his cheek flushing a bit as he looked from Lucy Gray back to the stage.

Coriolanus cleared his throat, “yes, she’s quite good. But most of the Covey is,” he said, listening as Y/N continued.

“Go build me a mansion, build it so high,

So I can see my true love go by.

See him go by, love, see him go by.

So I can see my true love go by.”

“She was always shyer than most,” Lucy Gray said, “prefers the background. But I couldn’t let her not sing this one,” she said, and it make Coriolanus think
.who was it about? Was this recent?

“Go write a letter, send it by mail.

Bake it and stamp it to the Capitol jail.

Capitol jail, love, to the Capitol jail.”

“Who is it about?” Coriolanus asked, he couldn’t help himself.

Lucy gray let out a small sigh, “someone she was with about a year ago. He was the bakers son. Honestly I never seen someone so smitten before,” she said fondly, remembering how Y/N was with the boy before shaking her head,

“but he got himself into some bad trouble with the peacekeepers. Attempted to bribe one of the commanders. They thought he was all involved with the rebels and then he was sent off to the capital jail. Never seen someone so heart broken before.” Lucy gray shook her head, her messy black curls moving as she did so.

“But anyway, she wrote this a while ago. But just finished coming up with the music. I think it’s a hit with the district. Many people lost a lot of loved ones. For things like stealing and illegal trading,” she finished explaining.

“Roses are red, love; violets are blue.

Birds in the heavens know I love you.

Know I love you, oh, know I love you,

Birds in the heavens know I love you.”

Coriolanus’ head snapped back as she continued to sing the last verses of her song. It reminded him of his mother, she would sing those same lines to him. And it made his stomach flutter. Nerves? Anxiety? He couldn’t tell.

Sejanus cleared his throat, “Lucy Gray
.do you think you could introduce us?” He asked hopefully, and Lucy Gray gave a knowing grin.

“Why of course. Once the crowd clears,” Lucy Gray said.

Coriolanus couldn’t help but internally scoff at Sejanus. What could he do for a sweet shy girl like you? Sejanus was just as weak. You needed someone to protect you, who knew better. Sejanus couldn’t do that to you. But Coriolanus could. And he wouldn’t lose to someone like Sejanus.

His pale eyes moved from Sejanus as the crowd erupted into applause, and watched as Y/N gave a bashful smile and a cute little bow.

Yes.

He couldn’t lose you to anyone.

District Boy

Coriolanus did not remember the exact moment when this happened.

Everything that had to do with you came to him very... naturally.

Before he knew it, one joint project for one of your classes turned into daily discussions in the cafeteria. You entered his very small circle of 'friends' like you should have always belonged there and unknowingly became the best friend to young Snow.

And then you started staying in the library after classes, talking about various things (Coriolanus hated himself for wasting his time when he should have been studying on pointless discussions with you, but he always ended up in the library at the end of the day anyway).

And so one day he realised that you were wonderful when you laughed at his jokes. That the smell of your perfume made him hungrier than the baked goods that spread from the bakery he passed by every day on his way to the Academy. That he was missing something as he basked in the glow of your attention. That he would like you to be with him at all times, not only within the walls of the Academy, cafes (he never ordered himself anything, trying to stop his stomach from growling as he watched you eat the cake, occasionally offering him a bite), or the park. That he would like to have you completely to himself and hide you from the eyes of other people who, in his opinion, were not worthy of an ounce of your attention.

He remembered snapping at Festus when he asked him if you were seeing anyone. As if Coriolanus' claim about you wasn't obvious enough to him.

Although you also remained blind to his obvious feelings, which Sejanus said were as visible as an approaching change in the weather in the Rocky Mountains. By the way, he wondered when Sejanus would forget those catchphrases from District 2. They were very tiring and boring to listen to.

But Snow decided to let you stay in the dark for a little longer and admire you in silence, from his place next to you as your best friend. He promised himself that when he won the Plinth Prize, he would conquer not only the world but you and your heart. After all, he couldn't imagine anyone else being his First Lady than you.

He knew that his fascination with you was gradually turning into an unhealthy obsession. But what else could he do when you took his breath away just by existing? And Coryo wasn't used to not having control over his emotions. But with you... you could do whatever you wanted with him. And he was terrified, both by the fact that you had such power over him and by the fact that you were completely unaware of it.

However, everything was going according to his plan. He stayed by your side, guarding you like a gardener's dog and waiting for the moment when he would finally be worthy of you and make you his. And you seemed to obediently dismiss every admirer.

Until the 10th Hunger Games came along.

And a certain district boy stole too much of your attention for Coriolanus' liking. After all, you were HIS. Even if you didn't know about it yet.

District Boy

"Hello, petal." He whispers in your ear, walking up to you from behind.

Surprised, you choke on the champagne you drank in secret from your parents and other participants in the reaping party at the Academy. He smiles in amusement, gently patting your back and discreetly placing the glass of champagne on the table for you.

"Coriolanus Snow, someday I'll put a fucking bell around your neck like my mother's cats have." You say, coughing. He laughs softly, offering you his arm, which you take once you've recovered.

"I thought you considered it brutal?" He replies sarcastically, glancing at the dress you were in, which hugged your curves perfectly.

A white dress that Tigris made for you 'coincidentally' matched perfectly with the outfit he was currently wearing. He had never been more proud of his cousin than he was now.

"I'm surprised that you think you're on an equal footing with my cats. You're no match for them, Snow." He rolls his eyes at you, but he can't help but smirk a little at your laugh.

"We will see." You snorted at that. You notice Sejanus in the crowd talking to his parents.

"I'll go say hello." You say, nodding towards Sejanus. But before you can take a step towards him, Coryo's grip on you tightens. You give him a questioning look, focusing your gaze on him.

"Stay with me. You know I don't like talking to them all by myself. Especially with Arachne. Sejan will be joining us soon." You sigh, rolling your eyes at him, but you don't try to fight his grip or let go of his arm as he leads you towards the group of your classmates.

"I spoil you too much, Snow."

"Nonsense, you could do better." You laugh in amusement, and he smiles at the sound of that.

But his good mood and relaxed demeanour quickly turned into a stoic expression. You feel him tense slightly and straighten, as if preparing for a fight, when you approach your classmates.

"Snow and Y/L/N. As always, together. You could finally make up your mind, darling, and choose one of them instead of hanging around him and Plinth." Arachne greets you, as always, nicely, at which you laugh artificially.

"Why should I when I can have both?" You reply with a shrug, making some of them laugh. However, you are most pleased with Arachne's grimace and the small smile on Coryo's lips.

"Usually it's the district girls who act like whores." You feel Coryo tense next to you, his eyes turning a cold, icy shade as he stares at the girl in front of you. If looks could kill, Coryo would become a serial killer. However, he could certainly make someone feel insecure and intimidated.

"Usually inheritance hunters don't complete their education and end up marrying some rich fool at the earliest opportunity, even before they turn 18. And yet here you are, Arachnie. I think that makes us both surprised then." You reply before Coryo can react. Festus shakes his head and stares at the both of you in amusement as you sinisterly glare at each other.

"Ladies, why all these quarrels? We already know who Y/N will end up with."

"And who is it, Festus?"

"Me." You shake your head at that, amused. However, Coryo, standing next to you, doesn't share your humor. He pulls you slightly closer to him, giving you a fleeting glance before focusing on Festus.

"For now, she's not on your shoulder, Creed."

"Enjoy it while you can, Snow. We'll see how things go when we enrol in university." You see Coriolanus tighten his jaw at his remark. You squeeze his arm slightly tighter, making him shift his gaze to you. You smile as he relaxes slightly under your attention.

"You made it to the graduation, Festus. You shouldn't set higher expectations for yourself than that." Sejan's voice echoes behind you. You snorted in amusement and turned around in Coryo's embrace; somehow you managed to get out of them enough to wrap your arms around your friend. "Y/N. You look as beautiful as always. Arachne, who are you trying to fool with this white outfit?" You hide your face behind Coryo's shoulder, trying to hold back a burst of laughter.

You feel Sejanus wrapping his arm around you. Now, you are held by your two friends, and the one with the lighter hair is definitely unhappy about having to share you with Plinth, but you are not able to notice it since the reaping is finally starting.

District Boy

A murmur of women's whispers echoed throughout the room as a very handsome man emerged from the crowd. You leaned forward slightly, taking a closer look at the tall, athletic, and chiselled man with tanned skin and bronze hair.

With just one look into his stunning sea-green eyes and after seeing the huge, charming smile he sent for the cameras, you knew that whoever got this man was going to be the winner. Because no tribute ever made as much money from sponsors as a sinfully hot man usually did.

And this one was a special sight for the eyes. The reaction of most of the female part of the room and the jealous and furious looks of the men at the reaction of their other halves confirmed your suspicions.

"This boy from 4 belongs to Miss Y/N Y/L/N."

You licked your lips, smiling wolfishly, and watched your tribute on the screen. You were so lucky.

"You damn lucky dog." Persephone whispers in your ear and slaps your shoulder playfully. You give her a half-smile and shrug as the cameramen spend a little more time showing your tribute.

"What can I say... maybe I'll only attract hot men from now on? I hope his muscles aren't just for good looks, because that would be a shame." She shakes her head at your words, holding back a laugh. You smile and involuntarily glance at Coriolanus.

He immediately looks away from you. His jaw is set, and his leg bounces slightly. Anyone else would think he was relaxed and calm. But you knew him too well to assume that.

He was already nervous the moment Clem took your seat, and you were forced to sit in the second row, away from him. Coriolanus doesn't like it. He would rather hold your hand, feel the warmth of your body close to yours, and smell the faint scent of your perfume than sneak glances over his shoulder to keep an eye on you.

Sometimes he knows he can be painfully obvious, but he thanks fate for at least being kind enough to keep you unaware of his feelings for you. He would have you. Just not yet. First, his tribute had to win the damn Hunger Games so he could win Plinth's prize. Then he could make his move without fear of you discovering his family's financial situation. Finally, snow lands on top. And he spent many sleepless nights imagining that he would land on top of you.

You catch his gaze, but you don't have time to analyse his attitude. After a while, Lucy Gray appears on the screen, and you see that your handsome guy will have some competition for the Capitol's favour.

And the possible competition with your best friend makes you feel very uncomfortable. So much so that you don't notice the hateful glare Coriolanus shot at your tribute as the operators once again showed off the likenesses of this year's tributes.

Finnick Odair. A new obstacle in his plan that he had to eliminate. And not just to win the Hunger Games...

District Boy

You haven't spoken to Coryo since then. Which was an extremely strange phenomenon because you were usually attached to each other at the hip.

Although you had seen him briefly during classes and now, when most of the mentors had gathered around the cage at the zoo to find their tributes and give them something to eat or drink, he didn't even spare you a second glance as he was fully focused on Lucy Gray.

Something was wrong with him.

Especially after his little stunt at the train station and his conversation with Dr. Gaul. Because of which, now (and mainly because of Sejanus' statement), you stand nervously near the bars, looking for your tribute.

And you couldn't help but wonder what exactly the Hunger Games were for. The more you thought about it, the more you started to side with Sejanus.

The First Rebellion may have done you great harm, but was it any wonder that the people of the district rebelled? After all, if any of you were born outside the Capitol, you would probably do what they did. So what was the point of murdering 23 of the young unfortunates who had been singled out for slaughter?

“You seem lost.” A voice next to you pulls you from your thoughts. You turn around, seeing your tribute leaning against the bars and watching you carefully. If he was hot on TV, he looked gorgeous in real life. His cheekbones and jaws look like they had been carved with chisels by the best of the artists. And his eyes... you wonder how such men could be born and live in any district. "Unless you're looking for something. Or someone, if I may boldly assume."

"Y/N Y/L/N. Your mentor." You say, reaching your hand out towards him through the bars. He takes your hand, placing a kiss on the back of it. You can't help but notice how soft his lips are against your skin. You blush slightly, and you can almost feel Flickerman's eyes and cameras behind you.

"I figured it out. Fate must be a little kind to me after all. Giving me the most beautiful of mentors as my guardian angel."

"You'll be able to say that when you win the Hunger Games." You reply, taking your hand from his and pulling food and drink out of your bag for him.

"When?" He asks, taking the cookie from you and immediately biting into it. That view is squeezing you with sadness, seeing how hungry he is. Despite everything, he still carries himself with grace and is extremely charming. You hope that the cameras will show him often. "How can you be so sure?"

"You are handsome. You attract women's attention. If you maintain that charming attitude of yours, you will probably earn quite a lot of money with those pretty eyes and smile. At least enough to not die of hunger or dehydration in the arena." You reply, searching for something else in your bag.

"Under different circumstances, I would be grateful for so many compliments, angel." You look up, meeting his gaze. And something inside you tells you that, in fact, if the circumstances were different, you would be talking about something completely different right now... or doing something much more enjoyable.

"When you win, who knows? Once a tribute stayed in the Capitol after winning." You say, handing him your cousin's old white sweater that he found in the closet.

"Sorry, honey, but I doubt I'd want to stay in the Capitol. Even for such a nice view." He says this, unabashedly taking off the slightly torn and dirty shirt he was wearing.

He soaks it in the water you gave him and rinses himself off, putting on a show for the entire Capitol audience to watch thanks to the cameras trained on him and the people in the zoo. You lick your lips, trying not to openly stare at the muscles on his chest and act rude (or, in this case, like a horny teenager).

"You're behind bars." You clear your throat, reminding him that there are probably no good views from the cage. You took the courage to look him in the eyes again only after he got dressed.

"And I look at a beautiful girl, what more could I want?"

You laugh loudly and honestly at this. He joins you, and the other mentors and the rest of the tributes look at you like you're crazy. You're too busy looking at the handsome man in front of you to notice Coryo giving him a dagger glare and clenching her fists in anger.

But Lucy Gray does it.

And she perfectly recognises jealousy in the eyes of others. Especially pure anger and the beginnings of forming a plan for revenge. After all, that's how she ended up here.

The day before reaping, Mayfair Lipp had a similar look in her eyes.

Which makes her come to the conclusion that maybe her mentor isn't as good a person as she initially assumed.

"Excuse me for a moment." Snow mutters to her as he walks towards the two of you, leaving her to the children who came to look at her dress.

You and Finnick chat casually about things completely unrelated to Games. Coriolanus notices that the boy from the district reached through the bars for your hand, showing you different lines on it, probably doing some trick or foretelling stupid things.

But what added fuel to Snow's anger was the fact that, in addition to the district's underdog daring to touch you, he also made your face blush. Something Coriolanus has never managed to do.

"Y/N." He says, interrupting the conversation between the two of you. Seeing that he is watching you, you move away from the boy, calming down his anger a little. "We have to get back to the Academy. We have another class soon."

"Oh. Yes." you say, the disappointment is very audible in your voice, which makes him even more angry and jealous.

Why on earth would this piece of trash from the district deserve your attention, or maybe even affection, when Coriolanus was standing right next to you?

"I'll be back again. If you need anything, I'll get it for you." You say, giving a soft smile to your tribute. Coryo almost growls in anger, knowing full well that this worm doesn't deserve your kindness.

"Everything's fine, angel. Don't worry too much." He replies with his charming smirk, making Coryo want to impale his head through the metal wires of his cage.

He wraps his hand around your waist and catches your gaze as he nods towards the exit of the zoo. Taking advantage of your moment of distraction as you watch Arachne torment her tribute, Coriolanus gives your tribute a cold look and squeezes your waist a little tighter. Odair looks at him impassively, but the slight tightening of his jaw tells Snow that the boy got the hint.

No matter how hard he tried, he would never be able to touch you like Coryo was doing right now.

Coryo shouldn't be concerned about a boy from the district, especially one who competed in the Hunger Games, but he couldn't just let that bastard flirt with HIS girl.

Your terrified gasp brings him out of his thoughts. He automatically places his hands on your shoulders, pulling you closer to him and looking around for whatever scared you. And she sees Arachne's tribute grab her by the neck and pull her towards her, holding a broken bottle in her other hand.

He feels you try to break free from his grip, but instead of letting you go and running towards Arachne and her tribute, he spins you around and presses your face into his chest just as Arachne's neck pierces the glass of the bottle.

He feels you tremble in his arms, hearing the screams and shots of the Peacekeepers, who open fire too late and kill the crazy girl from the district.

"You're safe. Nothing will happen to you. Not with me." He whispers to you as he feels your tears soak his shirt, and he falls even more in love with you, seeing you cry even for a bitch like Arachne.

He places a kiss on the top of your head and leads you out of the zoo and to your car. He glances briefly at Lucy Gray to make sure they didn't shoot her by accident. He angrily accepts that your tribute is also unharmed.

He feels a little better, though, when he sees how your tribute shoots a jealous, angry glare at him, holding you close to his chest. And Coriolanus can't help but wink arrogantly at him.

District Boy

"Focus." You tell the tribute in front of you as you discuss plans to build the Arena with him. Finnick, however, prefers to play with the bracelet on your wrist.

"Rose quartz. You know you don't get things like that from just anyone?" He asks, examining the stone. You remove your wrist from his grasp and raise a questioning eyebrow at him.

"My friend gave me this."

"That creepy blonde? Adorable. If he took his eyes off you for more than 5 seconds."

You roll your eyes at him and turn your gaze away from him to glance at Coryo. He's talking to, or rather listening to, Lucy Gray as he stares blankly at the pen and paper in front of him. He senses your gaze and turns around. You give him a soft smile, and he nods at you and goes back to listening to his tribute.

"Coryo doesn't like being alone among people he doesn't trust or know. And after yesterday, he's
 more caring. It's natural."

"And does this Coryo of yours often give you old bracelets with a stone symbolising love?" You frown, examining the bracelet he gave you for your 18th birthday.

"It belonged to his mother. He probably thought it was pretty and that's why he gave it to me. It does not mean anything." You explain to him, at which he just shakes his head in disbelief, apparently not trusting in the good intentions of your friend. You want to go back to discussing your arena survival plan with him, but he won't let you say a word.

"Hmm... if I hadn't been chosen in the reaping and we had met under different circumstances, and if I were rich, I would have given you a necklace with pearls and pieces of angelite."

"Why?" You ask curiously, hoping that once he says what he wants, you two will go back to discussing plans. But you wonder how the hell he knows the meaning of the stones.

"Pearls are a symbol of wisdom, calmness, integrity, and serenity. They also remind me of the ocean. How old fishermen told us stories about beautiful sirens who attracted them by singing."

"Like Lucy Gray?" You ask with a smirk, thinking he might like the female tribute.

"I was thinking of another beauty." He says his fingertips are brushing against yours as much as the cuffs on his wrists would allow.

You blush when he flirts with you. You can't say that it bothers you or that you are indifferent. After all, he was very handsome. You don't see Coryo frown, staring daggers at the place where your hands lightly brush against each other.

"What about angelite? Why it?"

"It's a kind of peaceful crystal. Some believe that it helps to bring a guardian angel closer to you. After being chosen in the reaping... I wasn't quite at peace. And then I looked at you, and somehow..." He pauses, staring at your hands. You grab his hands tight, making his sea-green eyes look back into yours in surprise at your sudden gesture.

"I promise I will do everything in my power to make you survive this. You don't have to trust me, but trust in this."

"Because you want the prize?" He asks suspiciously, and you shake your head with a slight chuckle. You're not surprised that he's distrustful. After all, most mentors had this in mind. The prize. Not a human life that was in their hands.

"Because I can't stand the thought of someone like you dying in the arena." You admit it. You unconsciously lean into each other as you stroke your fingers over the back of his hand, drawing little patterns on it.

"Someone like me? Underdog from the district?"

"A handsome man with a good heart. Do not look at me like this. I saw you sharing water and food with that sick little girl—Dill and the other one... Wovey I think? You are a good man, Finncik Odair." You say with confidence.

His eyes light up for a moment, and for the first time, you see his real, unforced, warm smile. He didn't play the charming boy. Not this time.

"I guess that makes two of us, angel. I saw someone giving her medicine last night and extra food. I doubt it was their mentors."

"I have no idea what you are talking about." You both laugh at your answer. And somehow you can't help but blush—the flutter in your stomach that's caused by the way he looks at you and that damn beautiful, genuine smile—that's nothing compared to his charming façade.

Someone's burning gaze focused on you, which you feel on your temple, makes you let go of the tribute's hand, embarrassed. You look around discreetly, noticing Coryo's cold gaze that makes you shiver. He's never looked at you like that... at least not in your direction. It takes you a few seconds to realise that his gaze isn't on you at all, but on the man sitting across from you.

"Can you get me a trident? And some nets?"

"Trident?" You ask distractedly, making a note of his request anyway.

"To the arena. To put on a show and collect more donations." You nod, your thoughts fully returning to Finnick. You tell yourself that you're making something up. After all, Coryo is just your friend.

"I'll see what I can do. You also need to think about what you will do on tomorrow's TV appearance." You remind him, writing down in your notebook the things you should provide him with before he goes on air. Maybe a suit? You're sure he'd look drop-dead handsome in it on stage.

"I have already got some idea. You'll probably like it." He replies with an arrogant smirk, causing you to giggle, which, for some strange reason, you're unable to hold back. His smirk widens.

"Y/N. Can I take you away for a moment?" Coryo's voice and the fact that he's right behind you surprise you. You didn't notice him sneaking up until he spoke. You wonder how many times he has managed to do this without your knowledge.

"Go, angel. I'll see you tomorrow at the arena." Finnick says, giving you another of his trademark smirks. You nod to him and accept Coryo's hand as he helps you up. He takes your bag from you, and you both walk out.

You go with him as his emotional support to Dr. Gaul's laboratory. He tells you enthusiastically about his new ideas for the Hunger Games and how the woman was interested in them, but you only half-listen, your thoughts still with Finnick. And Coriolanus doesn't like it that you so brazenly ignore what he says.

"You two are rather close." He says, getting your attention. You raise a questioning eyebrow at him, not understanding who he was talking about. "You and your tribute."

"We are. It's my job to take care of him."

"You do it rather willingly and with a smile on your face." He remarks with a strange tone of voice. You stop and frown at him, not understanding what his problem is.

"Are you suggesting something?"

"No. No. Not at all. I'm just warning you. People are talking."

"They always talk." You snap at him, furious that he's playing that card. He lectures you as if you were a little child and did something wrong. Besides, who cared? You could flirt with anyone you wanted.

"Y/N. He's just a district boy. I don't want your reputation to suffer just because
 you see him as a human being."

"Are you serious? He IS a human being. Like each one of them." You say, angry at him for even saying such a thing.

"You sound like Sejanus." He says it coldly, giving you an unreadable look. You don't know what he's thinking, but you know by the way his jaw is set and his hand is nervously playing with the strap of his bag that it's not good. And you wonder. Because Sejan is your friend after all. And he was also a district boy.

"Maybe because he's right." You respond to his remark by crossing your arms and staring at him defiantly, tilting your chin slightly upward.

"Are you really going to let some district scumbag ruin your career and future? Everything you've worked for so far? They hate us, Y/N. Each one of them. Behind that charming smile of his, there is a devil who gossips about you and laughs at your naivety behind your back."

"They are not monsters, Coriolanus."

The use of his full name makes him flinch. You see it and immediately regret not using his diminutive, but that's okay. You were incredibly frustrated and angry that he thought the way Dr. Gaul and the rest of the rich snobs of Panem did. That he didn't see these people as... people. People like you were.

"They killed my father, and because of the rebellion 10 years ago, my mother and sister, whom I never got to know, are dead, and they might have been alive if those district rats hadn't turned the Capitol into a battlefield. You, Tigris, and my grandmother are all I have left. And I won't let anything happen to you or anyone take you away from me." He bursts out, keeping his voice cool, but you can clearly see the storm of emotions in his icy eyes.

"I'm not going anywhere, Coryo. The rebellion is over. We are safe. But they are not." You decide to back out of the argument with him.

"They don't deserve to be safe. Not after what they did to us, petal."

You don't say anything at his words. You just sigh and go to hug him.

He relaxes a little in your arms, wrapping himself around you just as tightly as you wrap around him. You are enveloped in his warmth and the delicate scent wafting from the rose he had pinned to his red jacket.

You know how Coryo suffered and how he sought an outlet for his pain. And you can't be surprised that he blamed the people of the district for his family's fate. That he hated them... but you didn't know how deep that hatred had grown inside him.

And how much it had grown the moment he found out from Lucy Gray that you had promised to make sure Odair won.

When he found out you chose that district boy above him in The Hunger Games, he fully understood what Dr. Gaul wanted him to say when she asked him about the meaning of the games.

Now he had to make sure that HE would become THE VICTOR. And not the underdog from 4 who tried to steal HIS woman.

District Boy

"I hope I haven't caused you any trouble?" Finnick asks with that smile of his that makes you weak in the knees as you both walk around the arena.

You blush slightly, remembering last night.

"Here. Put this somewhere and change it when we get back from the arena. Then you two will be on TV." You tell him, handing him a bag of clothes through the bars. It is midnight. You shouldn't be here, and you might as well have given it to him in the morning, but... something pulled you to him. "If you are as charming as usual, you will win the hearts of the audience." You say, not knowing that he only cares about ONE heart.

"You're too good, angel. But I have something for you too." he says that and hands you a small bundle. You frown at him.

"I
 I shouldn't
" You say, surprised, but he pushes the bundle into your hands anyway.

You look at him in a daze for a moment and unwrap the fabric. You gasp when you see the necklace. It is an ordinary black leather strap with a silver pendant with a fish that swallows its tail, thus creating a circle shape. There was a tiny pearl inside.

"If I were a rich man, I would give you something else... as a souvenir. But I'm not... but I really wanted for you to have something that will remind you of me. Please say something, or I might start talking nonsense that we'll both regret later and..."

You silence him by leaning in and kissing him through the bars. It's a gentle kiss, as tender as the tiny passage between the bars allows, but somehow he manages to grab your hand and cup your cheek carefully, brushing your skin with his thumb.

You feel tears welling up as you think about what it might have been like in another life, where there were no divisions into better and worse districts and the Hunger Games would never have existed... but this small moment stolen in the night between you two will have to be enough. That gentle brushing of your lips.

"No. Not at all. Do you already know what you're going to do on TV?" You ask, changing the subject, trying to keep from blushing as the two of you walk around the arena while you make mental notes of the best places to escape.

"Yes. I will recite a poem. Or, rather, a song. I will not compete with our dear Lucy Gray, and I will not sing. Want to hear?"

"Sure." You reply with a shrug, completely unprepared for what he had in store.

He clears his throat. He catches your eye and begins with a tone of voice so velvety and pleasant to the ear that it's impossible for you to perceive anything other than him. And certainly not the way your blonde friend was staring daggers at you with clenched fists, ignoring the scared look Lucy Gray was throwing his way.

"We gather stones, never knowing what they'll mean Some to throw, some to make a diamond ring You know I didn't want to have to haunt you But what a ghostly scene You wear the same jewels that I gave you As you bury me I didn't have it in myself to go with grace 'Cause when I'd fight, you used to tell me I was brave And if I'm dead to you, why are you at the wake? Cursing my name, wishing I stayed Look at how my tears ricochet."

You shiver as he finishes. He was only a small step away from you as he inched closer with each line he spoke, never taking his eyes off you. You are speechless. All you can do is look him in the eyes, watching as he gently brushes away your hair from your eyes.

"It's... it's beautiful. Did you write it?" You ask, snapping out of your daze.

"No. No, I don't. I believe this is 'My tears richochet' by Taylor Swift."

"Taylor Swift?" You repeat it stupidly, swallowing and trying to calm your rapidly beating heart that aches with the desire to kiss him. You know you can't. Not in the light of day. Never in plain sight. And it hurt you that you wanted a man who could never be yours.

"In another life, I would be a London boy." You laugh with him about it. Suddenly he looks around seriously, and when he sees that Coriolanus is the only one watching you, he takes a step towards you and gently strokes your cheek with his thumb. "You're... I didn't expect anyone in the Capitol to have a heart. And certainly not as pure as yours, my sweet angel."

You shiver, unable to move away from him.

He leans down and steals you a quick but more passionate kiss than the first you two had shared under the cover of the night. His hand tangles in the hair at the back of your head as he opens your mouth with his tongue, swallowing your moan. Common sense screams at you to step away, but you can't. You cup his cheeks in your hands, pulling him closer to you, stealing another moment with him as he pushes you against a pillar, hiding you from anyone's view.

Before anyone can notice that you two have disappaired, there's a loud bang in the arena. You scream as you feel a warm gust of air make you fall onto your back. The combined scream of both Coryo and Finnick's calling your name and the pounding of your head is the last thing you hear and feel before you pass out.

District Boy

Consciousness comes back to you very slowly. At first, you think you're dead, but the ringing in your ears and headache wouldn't be symptoms of a dead person on the other side.

That's why you open your eyes slowly and very reluctantly.

You hiss as the light from the hospital lamp hits your eyes. You cover them with your hand when suddenly you feel another one on yours.

"Everything's fine, petal. You are safe with me. Move slowly, take your time."

"Coryo?" You ask, pushing both your and his hands away from your eyes as you narrow them at him. You sigh with relief and hug the blonde, who is also in a hospital gown. You managed to notice a few scratches on his face before you cuddled up to him shakily.

"Shh... it's okay, my petal. Your parents were here. They waited through the entire surgery, and when the doctor told them you were stable, they went home to get clothes for you. They should be back here soon. Together with Tgiris and Sejanus."

"Surgery?" You ask in surprise, only now feeling the grip of the bandages on your head.

"They put a few stitches on your head. Fortunately, it wasn't as deep a wound as we thought it was. You scared me. And the others." He says, pressing a kiss to your forehead as he wraps his arms tighter around you... like a snake.

"The arena... Finnick. Is he alive? What happened? Where is Finnick?" You panicked, moving away from him and ignoring his more affectionate than usual gestures. All you can think about is a district boy that you have grown to... to love in these few days when you got a chance to know him.

You don't see the anger rising in Coriolanus's eyes, nor do you recognise his fake tone as he pretends to be concerned. You're more concerned, scared, and distraught that you don't feel the weight of Finnick's necklace around your neck.

"He is dead. I'm sorry for your tribute, my petal." He says, slowly stroking your bare arms.

From the side, it looked like he wanted to comfort you, but he was only doing it because he wanted to feel your skin under his fingertips. Enjoy his reward. As well as that snow lands on top.

"What?" You ask in shock, not feeling his touch at all. Your world stopped. As if it were dying. You don't feel anything. Nothing at all.

"There was an attack of rebels. He didn't survive." He repeats it more emphatically, watching you carefully.

"No... no..." You shake your head, feeling tears welling up in your eyes. Tears that you don't even try to hold back. Just as your whole body trembles.

"It's not your fault, honey. You did an excellent job as a mentor. It could have happened to anyone."

"You do not understand! This isn't about stupid games! This is about him! About human life! How can you be so selfish and myopic?!”

You shout angrily, slapping your hands against his chest. Your tears are blurring any vision; you're still weak from the surgery, so when you get tired, he pulls you into his arms and presses your head to his chest, rubbing your back as you cry into him.

Into a man who took the opportunity to get rid of the inconvenience of your tribute. Along with the necklace he gave you. Coriolanus was furious when he saw it on your neck as he carried you out after pushing Odair right into the spot where, a second later, a large piece of debris fell from the ceiling.

Once again, Coriolanus' perceptiveness worked to his advantage.

And now you were his. Only his. He made sure there were no traces of Finnick Odair left. After all, his First Lady couldn't be sullied by a district boy.

"Don't cry over him. We are all we need anyway, my little petal." He whispers against your skin as he kisses away your tears.

You're too busy mourning your tribute and too drugged to do anything. So he uses this to his advantage and fucks your face with kisses before finally leaning in to taste your lips.

He moans into your mouth, not caring about the slightly salty taste of your tears, and gently wraps his hand around your neck. You mumble something into his mouth, pressing your hand against his chest to push him away.

But he doesn't give up. He sits you on his lap and places kisses on your neck. You gasp, clinging to him. He rests his forehead against yours and kisses you once again. He lifts your hands and makes you tangle them in his hair. His other hand wraps around your waist, pulling you in until your chests are pressed together.

He ignores Lucy Gray's singing echoing through the private room in the hospital your parents bought for you to get better and holds you close to his chest, pressing tender kisses to your cheeks, lips, nose, forehead, and neck—everywhere his greedy, eager mouth can reach.

You can't move. Because of the drugs they drugged you with, so you can't feel pain, or because you don't want to move, you don't know yet. In some strange way, the feeling of closeness comforts you, and your stupid brain and heart try to trick you into thinking it's right. After all, Coryo saved you, and he always saved you. He was always there for you. Always close to you. Unconsciously, you start kissing him back. He moans contentedly, rubbing himself against you.

He refrains from doing anything more and pushes you off of him, keeping your head on his shoulder and his arms around you as he places small kisses on your temple and tenderly, occasionally reaching up to kiss your lips as the painkiller drip he unscrews a little makes you melt and surrender completely to him.

He holds you as you fall asleep in his arms, thinking about how he can make sure his songbird wins. He reduced her competition anyway by hastening Odair's death, but he must be sure that he wins Plinth's prize so he can finally claim you fully for himself. He wouldn't endure another district boy near you.

Coriolanus knew that hope was dangerous. Love was fatal and destructive if you didn't control the one you cared for. And jealousy... jealousy brought out people's primal, animal instincts.

Just like the Hunger Games.

He looks at your sleeping, peaceful form, and he presses a kiss on your lips. He smiles, seeing how cuddled up to him you were and how you were in need of his warmth and touch, of the security he provided and will always provide for you. You were worth every sin. His petal. His little angel. His future First Lady and mother of his children. He will adore you. You'd forget about this district underdog once he won; he was sure of it.

After all, he was the only victor Panem could have.

Chapter 15: Sejanus

Fuck

Fuck

Pepper spray and a flashlight. That was all Dr. Gaul had given you before you left. You had asked for a gun, or at least a knife, but Dr. Gaul had shut you down. "Since you're not trained, this is safer. Remember, you're not there to do damage—you’re there to bring your friend out as quickly and as quietly as possible."

But you didn’t have time to complain.

"You idiot," you muttered under your breath. "You absolute fool."

Of course, Sejanus would rope you into something like this. And of course—of course—you would drag Coryo into it too. You were surprised he had agreed. Well, you hadn’t exactly given him much of a chance to refuse. If anyone else had asked him, he would have fought against it, refused to put his life on the line. He barely even considered Sejanus a friend. But deep down, in that black heart of his, you hoped he still cared—at least enough not to let you die.

Maybe another student, or even yourself a few years ago, would have protested, insisted on calling your mother or your stepfather, pleaded for help. But after the snake attack on Clemensia, the aftermath of the bombing, and Marcus’s torture, you knew it was pointless. If Dr. Gaul decided you were going into the Capitol arena, then that’s where you were going. Even if Sejanus’s life wasn’t at stake, you were just another one of Gaul’s experiments. Students and tributes alike were of no more consequence than the Avoxes in the cages—powerless to object. But you had known what you were getting into on your first day at the Academy. You had known the moment Dr. Gaul first shook your hand and made you an apprentice. You had signed your soul away.

You didn’t know if it had been hours or minutes by the time you reached the arena. You had run the entire way—it wasn’t far, only about a mile—but you were panting, your breath coming in sharp gasps. Your mind was a chaotic mess, thoughts scattered and incoherent. But one thing remained clear: Sejanus. You needed to get him out.

You scanned the area. Peacekeepers were stationed by the entrance, but they didn’t acknowledge you, didn’t stop you. You assumed they had already been informed of the situation. Still, Coryo wasn’t here yet.

Your pulse pounded. Should you go in alone? You only had an hour, and the countdown had already begun the moment you left the lab. Every second wasted was a second closer to disaster.

"Fuck it," you murmured, steeling yourself to move forward.

Before you could take a step, a voice cut through the night. "What the fuck is going on?"

You turned sharply. Coryo had finally arrived, his expression twisted in anger and concern. His breath was ragged, and there was a wildness in his eyes that you weren’t sure you’d ever seen before. "Why the hell did you call me here?"

"I don’t have time to explain," you said quickly. "Sejanus is in the arena."

Coryo blinked. Then scoffed. "Are you kidding me?"

"I wish I was. He bribed a Peacekeeper and got in somehow. Dr. Gaul is giving us an hour to get him out before she turns the feed back on."

His face twisted in frustration. "No. I’m not putting my life on the line for him. And I’m sure as hell not letting you do it either."

"Coryo, we don’t have time for this," you snapped. "If you’re not going in, I am. I don’t give a damn if you follow me or not, but through hell or high water, I’m getting Sejanus out of that fucking arena."

He exhaled sharply, running a hand through his hair. "Goddamn it. Fine. Let’s go."

As you approached the entrance, the damage from the bombing was stark. The main doors had taken a direct hit—one was entirely gone, leaving a jagged, gaping hole framed by twisted metal. The only security in place was a set of concrete barriers, haphazardly arranged. If Sejanus had planned this, he wouldn’t have had much trouble getting in.

An old Peacekeeper standing behind the barriers caught your movement and approached. "You have a token?"

Coryo scowled. "A token?"

The Peacekeeper dug into his pocket and produced two small discs. "These are for you."

Coryo hesitated, turning the disc over in his fingers. "How did he think he was getting out?"

"I don’t think he did," you muttered.

"And how the hell am I supposed to get out?"

You almost laughed. Of course, that was his concern. Selfish bastard. But you weren’t surprised.

The Peacekeeper gestured toward the barricade. "We’ll pull back the barbed wire and tilt the bars forward when you return. You’ll have to crawl under, but it’ll be quick."

"And if we can’t convince him to come out?" Coryo asked.

The Peacekeeper shrugged. "Then you stay until the mission is accomplished."

A cold sweat broke over your skin. No way out without Sejanus.

You clenched your jaw and looked past the barricade toward the field. The tributes were supposed to be asleep, but you couldn’t shake the feeling that something was waiting for you.

"We’ve got you covered up to the barricade," the Peacekeeper assured you.

"So you’ll kill any tributes who try to attack us?" Coryo asked sharply.

"Scare them off, anyway."

"Excellent," you muttered, not at all reassured.

Coryo exhaled, then shoved the token into the slot. The turnstile groaned loudly, the sound far too sharp in the stillness of the night. One of the Peacekeepers chuckled as you stepped through.

You moved in silence, your only light the dim red glow of the emergency bulbs. The air was thick with dust, the ground littered with debris. Your footsteps crunched softly against the gravel.

Without thinking, your hands found each other. His grip was tight, firm—but not painful. Just enough.

"Don’t let go," he whispered. There was an edge of desperation in his voice.

You pressed your lips together, breathing steadily through your nose. Right foot, left foot. Forward. Keep moving. No one stirred. Maybe you were lucky. Maybe Lucky Flickerman had been right—the tributes had all gone to sleep.

You reached the barricade. Just as the Peacekeeper had said, it was flimsy—clumsy layers of barbed wire and wooden frames meant more for obscuring the view than keeping anything in or out. A stage prop. Not a real barrier.

You took a slow breath, gripping the edge of the wire. Beyond the barricade, the field stretched out before you, bathed in silver light.

And at its center, a single figure knelt in the dirt.

You hear Coriolanus take a deep breath, and he lets go of your hand as he steps onto the field.

Please don’t.

You aren’t going to admit it, but you think it’s reasonable to be afraid. And you are very afraid.

Please don’t let me go.

You want to say it, but you keep your mouth shut and follow him slowly. You tread carefully across the dirt, knowing not to spook Sejanus but needing to get close enough to talk. When you and Coriolanus are about ten feet behind him, you stop. In a hushed voice, you call out:

"Sejanus, It’s me."

Sejanus’ shoulders begin to shake. At first, you mistake it for sobbing, but it’s quite the opposite.

"You two really can’t stop rescuing me, can you?" he says, laughter slipping through his voice.

Coriolanus exhales a quiet chuckle. "Can’t do it"

"so they sent you two to fish me out. What madness."

Sejanus’ laughter trails off, and he rises to his feet. "Did you ever see a dead body?"

"A lot. During the war," Coriolanus replies.

You stay silent. "A lot" is an understatement. You’ve seen bodies being dragged, seen people put down in the streets, seen them waste away. You’ve seen what people become when you take away their food, their luxuries. Animals. much like the one who are in this cage with you

You both move in closer. It doesn’t matter now, you tell yourself. No more dead bodies. No more.

"I haven’t. Not this close," Sejanus says. "At funerals, I guess. And at the zoo the other night. Only those girls hadn’t been dead long enough to stiffen up."

A hollow feeling creeps into your chest as he continues.

"I don’t know if I’d rather be burned or buried. Not that it matters, really."

"Well, you don’t have to decide now," you say.

Your eyes sweep the field. In the shadows beyond the wall—was that movement?

"Oh, it won’t be up to me." Sejanus’ voice is distant. "I don’t know what’s taking the tributes so long to find me. I must have been in here a while."

He finally looks at you, brows furrowing in concern.

"You two should go."

"I’d like to," Coriolanus says carefully. "I really would. Only there’s a matter of your ma. She’s waiting out front, pretty upset. I promised I’d bring you to her."

Your eyebrows knit together. What is he talking about? When did he speak to his mother? Maybe it’s a lie to coax Sejanus out, but you doubt it will be enough.

Sejanus’ expression turns indescribably sad. "Poor Ma. She never wanted any of this, you know. Not the money, not the move, not the fancy clothes or the driver. She just wanted to stay in Two. With my father."

He pauses.

"But he isn’t here, is he? No, he’ll keep his distance until this is settled. Then let the buying begin."

"Buying what?" you ask.

A breeze ruffles your hair, the sound of it hollow in the vast arena.

"He bought our way here. Bought my schooling. Bought my mentorship. And he goes nuts because he can’t buy me," Sejanus murmurs. "He’ll buy you, if you let him. Or at least compensate you for trying to help me."

You understand both sides. Sejanus doesn’t want to be here. His mother doesn’t want to be here. But you also understand his father’s perspective: you do what you must. Buy as many people as needed. Sacrifices have to be made.

Leaving Two behind was one of them.

"You’re our friend. He doesn’t need to pay us to help you," you say.

Sejanus places a hand on your shoulder, the other on Coriolanus. "You’re the only reason I’ve lasted this long. I need to stop causing you two trouble. I didn’t realize how bad this was for yall."

"I should’ve traded tributes when you asked," Coriolanus mutters.

Sejanus sighs. "It doesn’t matter anymore. Nothing does, really."

"Of course it matters," you snap.

They’re coming. You can feel it—a pack closing in.

"Come out with me."

"No. There’s no point," Sejanus says. "There’s nothing left to do but die."

Coriolanus presses him. "That’s it? That’s your only choice?"

"It’s the only way I might possibly make a statement. Let the world see me die in protest."

You roll your eyes. "Do you really think they’ll show this? They’ll quietly remove your body and say you died from the flu."

Sejanus falters.

"If you really want to make a difference, you have to be alive. With us."

His face clouds over. "They won’t show it, will they?"

"No," you say, your voice sharp. "You’ll be dead for nothing. And you’ll have wasted your chance to make things better."

You almost scoff at the question. Why would they show it? Only an idiot would think that. You know as well as anyone that the Capitol won’t give anyone a public fuck you by showing a capitol citizen mourn a tribute's death like that. Not in a million years. They'd bury it, pretend it never happened, and move on like it was just another day in the arena. It was always about control, never about making a statement.

Coriolanus squeezes your arm. A cough—soft and muffled but unmistakable—echoes from the stands.

"What chance?" Sejanus asks.

"You have money. Maybe not now, but one day. Money has a lot of uses. Look how it changed your world. Maybe you can change the world too. The right way," you urge. "If you don’t, more kids will die. Every year."

"What makes you think I could do that?" he asks.

"You’re the only one who had the guts to stand up to Dr. Gaul," Coriolanus says.

Sejanus hesitates. He looks tired, but something shifts in him.

"Thank you for that, Coriolanus."

Coriolanus places a hand on Sejanus’ arm—half comfort, half restraint. "Come with us."

Sejanus stares at Marcus’ body for a long moment, then finally nods. "You’re right. If I believe what I say, it’s my responsibility to take her down. To end this whole atrocity."

Then, realization dawns in his eyes. He looks toward the stands.

"But I won’t leave Marcus."

You want to strangle him. You open your mouth to protest, but Coriolanus acts first.

"I’ll get his feet."

He grips Marcus’ stiff, heavy legs. You circle his chest, heaving him up. The stench of blood and filth clings to the body as you start moving.

Ten yards. Five yards. Almost there.

Coriolanus stumbles on a rock, knee slamming into something sharp. He hisses but pushes forward. Almost—

Footsteps. Quick and light, rushing toward you from behind.

Coriolanus drops Marcus and whirls around just as Bobbin lunges, knife flashing in the moonlight.

The blade slices into Coriolanus’s left upper arm. He leaps backward. He swings at Bobbin, but only encounters air. He lands on a pile of debris, old boards, and plaster as his hand searches for some kind of defense. Bobbin springs at him again, knife aimed at his face, seemingly focused only on Coriolanus and not you or Sejanus.

Coriolanus’s fingers close around a 2x4, and he brings it up, catching Bobbin in the temple hard, sending him to his knees. Then, he’s on his feet again, using the board like a club, bringing it down again and again. Blood splatters on you and Coriolanus.

“We have to go!” Sejanus shouts, and you can hear the catcalls now, the pounding of feet down the bleachers.

Confused, Coriolanus moves away from Marcus’s body, but you grab him and yank him away.

“No, leave him! Run!” you shout.

He doesn’t seem to need any persuasion and starts running. The three of you sprint toward the barricade. When you reach it, barbed wire bites into your shirt, and you yank it free. You see them—two tributes from District 4: Coral and Mission, and Tanner, the slaughterhouse kid—making a beeline for you, armed to the teeth. Reamed draws his arm back to throw a trident. The fabric on your sleeve rips wide as you yank yourself from the barbed wire and dive out of the line of fire with Sejanus right behind you.

Only a few weak rays of moonlight penetrate the layers of the barricade. You crash into wood and fencing, like a wild animal in a cage, surely alerting any tribute who somehow missed your presence. You run, face-first, and watch as Coriolanus runs into a concrete slab, then Sejanus plows into him from behind, smacking his forehead into the unrelenting surface a second time.

Thankfully, you stop just before the tributes start making a whooping sound, rattling their weapons against the barricade as they track the three of you through the labyrinth.

“Which direction?” Sejanus gasps, but the tributes seem to be all around you.

Coriolanus starts lagging, and you grab his arm, urging him to keep moving. He stumbles blindly behind, wounded and terrified. Something must have surged through him because he crashes into Sejanus, knocking him onto his hands and knees in front of a cloud of soft red light.

The passageway up ahead starts to take shape, and you can make out the turn, still with the peacekeepers clustered at the temporary bars. You run for your life, but the passageway isn’t long—it seems interminable. Your legs rise and fall as if you're wading through waist-high glue. Black specs dot your vision, and Sejanus stays steady at Coriolanus’s elbow, but you can hear the tributes gaining. Something heavy and unyielding—maybe a brick—clips the side of your neck. Another object punctures what’s left of your shirt, and you duck behind Sejanus until it falls with a clank.

Where is the cover? Where’s the protective gunfire from the peacekeepers? There’s nothing—nothing at all, and the bars still stand flush with the floor. You want to scream at them to kill the tributes, to shoot them dead in their tracks, but your breath is too short.

Someone heavy-footed shrinks the distance to a few yards. You don’t dare look back, too terrified to waste a second.

The peacekeepers finally manage to open the unit of bars inward, achieving a gap of about 12 inches at the ground. Coriolanus dives, skinning several layers of his chin on the rough floor, but getting his hands beneath the bars where the peacekeepers latch onto him and yank him through.

You’re next, scraping your face against the filthy surface, but you reach safety. You crumble into Coriolanus as the guards go to retrieve Sejanus, who gives a sharp cry as Tanner’s knife cuts open the back of his calf before he slides out of range. The bars are slammed into place, locked down tight, but the tributes are undeterred. Tanner and Coral jab their weapons through the bars at you, Coriolanus, and Sejanus, who are peeling back, desperate to get away.

The peacekeepers are doing nothing, banging their batons against the bars. Not a shot. Not even pepper spray. You realize they must have been under orders to leave the tributes untouched.

The peacekeepers help you and Coriolanus to your feet. You’re angry, but you can’t even muster words as Coriolanus grits his teeth, shaking with fury.

“Thanks for having our backs,” he spits bitterly. The peacekeeper shrugs, indifferent.

“Just following orders. Don’t blame us if Goal thinks you’re expandable,” says one of them.

Before you can respond, Coriolanus starts muttering a long string of profanities, his anger making no impression. He hangs like dead weight, barely able to stand until they drop him unceremoniously outside of the arena. You, with only a few scratches and a mild concussion, walk the entire way.

A minute later, Sejanus is dropped behind the two of you. Both Coriolanus and Sejanus lay panting on the tiles, glancing toward the front of the arena. You’re barely standing, your hands on your knees, trying to catch your breath. You sit beside them, exhausted.

“I’m so sorry. I’m so sorry I did this to you,” Sejanus keeps saying. “I’m sorry, Coryo. I’m sorry, Y/n.”

Coriolanus glances at him, and for a moment, it looks like he’s going to strangle him. But instead, they just sit in silence. The peacekeepers watch, silent, unmoving. Sejanus just keeps crying, his voice cracking. “I’m sorry. I’m sorry.”

You want to scream at him to please just shut up, but you keep your mouth shut, feeling the weight of the situation.

Then you hear the screech of tires, and you look up to see Sejanus’s mother getting out of the car, crying, frantic. She rushes over to him, tears in her eyes.

You see Sejanus’s father sitting still in the car, not bothering to get out. It makes you wonder if they called your parents. But you doubt it, and even if they did, you doubt they’d show up.

An ambulance pulls up not long after, checking on Coriolanus, you, and Sejanus. You’re not in bad shape—just a few scratches and a mild concussion. Nothing you haven’t been through before. Sejanus is sitting with his mom, and then it’s just you and Coriolanus. You both sit in silence outside the arena, neither knowing what to say, not even looking at each other.

Dean Highbottom and Dr. Gaul eventually show up. Dr. Gual looks as excited as ever, while Dean Highbottom doesn’t look like he’s in the mood for anything. He stands off to the side, randomly taking a shot of something.

Dr. Gaul is talking to Sejanus’s parents. You and Coriolanus exchange a look, and it’s like you both haven’t looked at each other in a while. Almost like when you were kids again, scared during the war. Maybe even before that. It’s been a while since you’ve looked at each other—not in a way of hate, or anger, or even less—but in a quiet moment of recognition.

Just as Coriolanus opens his mouth to speak, you hear car doors slam. You turn your head a little too fast, and your vision goes blurry again, but not so much that you can’t tell who it is. It’s Felix Ravensdale, in all his glory.

He walks toward you first, examining you like a mother would examine a child after they’ve gotten hurt. “What happened?” he demands, his tone pissed but also deeply concerned.

“I don’t know,” you reply quickly, trying to keep the situation under control.

Felix isn’t having it. “What happened? Are you okay? You’re not okay, are you?” His voice shakes with worry, but underneath it, there’s a simmering anger. “What the hell is going on here?”

Before you can explain, Felix turns to Dr. Gaul, his anger rising. “What the hell are you doing here, Felix?” Dean Highbottom says, cutting through the tension.

Felix snaps. “You don’t think I know what’s going on? How dare you? How dare you put her out there like that? You should be ashamed of yourself!”

Dr. Gaul is standing back, watching the interaction with almost sadistic amusement.

“I’m going to tell my father about this,” Felix says, his voice cold with fury. “He’ll take care of this. He won’t let this go.”

Dean Highbottom stumbles over his words. “Felix, calm down.”

You try to calm him down too, but it’s not working. “Felix, please—it’s fine,” you say, but Felix shakes his head, his anger still boiling.

“No, it’s not fine! What if something happened to you?” he yells. His face softens for a second, but it’s fleeting.

Felix drags you back toward the car. You glance back at Coriolanus, who’s looking at you with tired eyes. For a moment, there was something—some bond—but it’s gone now. You’re not sure it’ll come back.

The ride back is painfully quiet, except for Felix’s persistent questions.

“Y/n , are you sure you're okay? You don’t look okay. You sure you're alright?”

You can barely summon the energy to answer, your body aching from head to toe. The exhaustion weighs on you like a heavy blanket, and your bones are screaming for rest. You don’t even want to talk, but Felix keeps pressing.

“I mean, I can’t believe Dr. Gaul sent you in there like that. It was ridiculous! You could’ve gotten hurt. You could’ve died, Y/n.” His voice rises with every word, but all you can do is let him talk, feeling more and more like you’re fading into the seat.

You close your eyes, wishing the world would just stop spinning.

“I’m just so tired,” you mutter, barely a whisper.

Felix doesn’t hear you, or maybe he does, but he doesn’t know how to stop. He goes on, venting about how dangerous it was, how you shouldn’t have been put in that situation, how it was a huge mistake. You nod every now and then, not even sure what you're agreeing to.

"I just don’t understand why they do this to you..." he continues, his frustration palpable. “You’re exhausted. You’ve been through enough already. And they put you through more for what? To save Sejanus?”

The name makes your stomach turn. You're so done with everything right now. You're done with the arena, done with being a pawn in all this. You're just so tired.

“You know,” you murmur, more to yourself than him, “I'm just so tired. My bones hurt. I just want to sleep.”

Felix quiets down, noticing the strain in your voice. You lean against the window, closing your eyes, and for the first time in what feels like hours, you let the quiet settle over you. But then, as you start to drift, something feels off.

You sit up, blinking, confused.

“Felix...” you say, your voice slurring with exhaustion. “Where are we going?”

Felix glances at you, his expression unreadable for a second before it shifts to something more serious. “To my house.”

You blink again, more awake now, a sense of urgency creeping into your tone. “Felix, you can just bring me home, it's late. My parents are going to freak. They’ll be worried.”

Felix doesn’t waver. “No, it’s fine. My parents won’t care. What matters is that you’re safe. You’re going to stay with me tonight. I can’t trust anyone else to look after you. You need to get proper medical attention.”

His words send a cold shiver through you, but you're so tired, so utterly drained, that you don’t protest. If you weren’t so exhausted, you might’ve said something. The way he says it, like you’re his responsibility, like he owns you—like you’re something to be taken care of, a possession—hits a little too close to home.

But you don’t have the energy to argue. “Fine,” you mutter, sinking back into your seat. “I won’t fight you.”

You let out a sigh, your mind too foggy to process it all. Whatever. It’s been a hell of a day.

When you finally pull up to the Presidents mansion, you can’t help but feel a bit of apprehension. You’ve been here a handful of times, but it’s always been for brief visits, never for a stay. The house is grand, sprawling, the kind of place where everything gleams with wealth, but right now, it all feels so distant, so unimportant compared to how heavy your limbs feel.

Felix doesn’t ask; he just opens your door and helps you out, his hands gentle but insistent. You don’t even argue when he lifts you into his arms, carrying you up the stairs and into his room.

His room is grand, but not in the way you expected. It's a bit more personal—soft, warm lighting, and a massive bed that looks almost too big for just one person. The walls are lined with books, and there’s a touch of his personality in every corner. You can tell it’s his space, and even though it's beautiful, you feel out of place here.

He sets you down on the bed, his touch lingering just a bit too long before he speaks again. “I’ll have the maids run you a bath,” he says quietly, his usual flirty charm replaced by something softer. “You need it.”

You don’t protest. You just nod, your eyes barely open. The bath is exactly what you need. As soon as you slip into the warm water, you feel your body relax in a way it hasn’t all day. It’s like you could fall asleep right there.

You’re tempted to.

When you step out, the clothes they bring you make you stifle a laugh. A pair of Felix’s pajama pants and a loose shirt. It’s so typical, you can’t help but find it funny in the only way you can right now. You know they have spare clothes, but you end up with his clothes, the ones you know he picked out for you.

You slip into them, feeling the soft fabric settle over your tired body, and when you emerge, you see Felix waiting for you, his expression unreadable.

“You’re sleeping here tonight,” he says, a slight edge to his voice that you can’t quite place.

You blink. “Felix, what are you talking about? There’s like a million rooms here. Why would I sleep in here?”

His gaze softens, but his stance is firm. “I want you here with me. It’s safer. And I don’t want you alone.” He’s standing so close now, and something shifts in the air between you two, but you’re too tired to fight it.

“Fine,” you murmur. “Whatever.”

You lie down, and Felix pulls the covers up around you both. He holds you close, his arms around you like you're the only thing that matters. Normally, you’d push him away, but tonight? Tonight, you don’t have the strength to.

You settle into his warmth, resting your head on his chest, letting the rhythmic sound of his heartbeat lull you into a strange kind of comfort.

Felix strokes your hair lightly, his voice breaking the silence. “You okay?”

You want to say no—you want to say everything’s falling apart—but all you can muster is a tired, “Yeah.”

Then, you speak again, your tone softer than before. “How did you get in there? To the arena I mean... no one was supposed to know.”

You can feel him tense, but you stay quiet, not wanting to talk. The question lingers in the air for a long moment before Felix laughs softly. It’s not a happy laugh, not a joyful one. More like one of disbelief.

“I’m the President’s son,” he says, his voice quiet. “I make sure I know everything that’s happening around here. Besides, you told me you’d be home safely. You didn’t call, so I assumed something went wrong.”

You don’t answer. You just lay there, staring at the ceiling. The weight of the day hits you all over again, and the exhaustion sets in deeper.

Felix’s voice interrupts your thoughts again, his words playful despite the situation. “You know, you look kind of cute in my pajamas. But I think I’m the only one who gets to see you like this.”

You barely hear him, too lost in your own tiredness. You think about how you ended up here, in his bed, at the mansion. How Felix is always looking out for you, even when you didn’t ask for it.

Your mind drifts, though, and for a moment, you think back to a time not too long ago—another bed, another room. You remember the feel of the sheets, the quiet tension in the air, and that blonde figure who made everything so... complicated. You try to push the thought away. It was a different time, a different situation, and you don’t want to deal with it now.

But as you close your eyes, you can’t help it. In the dark of your mind, Coriolanus’s eyes flash before you, his gaze cold, intense, and knowing. The memory lingers like an unwanted ghost, and you squeeze your eyes shut tighter, trying to push it out of your head.

You don’t want to think about him. Not now.

But as sleep begins to take you, his eyes are still there, haunting the back of your mind.

Absolutely love this!

Three’s A Crowd

Three’s A Crowd

Request: Hello! I have request for a Coriolanus Snow x Fem! Reader. Where the reader is pregnant and has to give a speech maybe during him becoming president but in the middle of it she goes into labour.

Pairing: Coriolanus snow x Fem!reader

Word count: 1.5k

warnings: pregnancy, light mentions of labor, classism, district versus capital opinions, the reader is from the capital

~~~~~~
You weren’t the first choice. You knew that. But did it stop you from turning him away his advances?
Absolutely not.
You were kind, sweet, and everyone around you knew who you were. Growing up with the Snows and your close friends, you weren’t the standout. It wasn’t a bad thing—it just was.
You came from a wealthy family. Generational wealth that had taken a hit during the War, but quickly bounced back when your family invested in clothing manufacturing. Your family helped sponsor the reconstruction of factories destroyed in Eight, and soon, the business boomed. Your wealth grew, surpassing anything you’d ever imagined.
But despite having access to the finest fashion first, you remained the same sweet girl. Always willing to give a skirt, blouse, or dress with a flaw to Tigress, saying, “It would be a shame to waste it. I just don’t have the talents to fix it.” Tigress always smiled in return.
Watching you during the Hunger Games years ago had been painful. When the games changed, and Academy students had to mentor District tributes, you were assigned Wovey, a poor thirteen-year-old from District Eight. You did everything in your power to keep your promise to get her home. But near the end, after Wovey drank some water and died within minutes, your frustration boiled over. You demanded answers, questioned the contents of the water, and felt humiliated. You had failed, and it ate at you, gnawing at your pride.
After the Games, life seemed to return to normal—for you, at least. News broke about Coriolanus Snow’s involvement in cheating and his banishment to District 12 as a peacekeeper, and the gossip spread like wildfire.
You’d liked him—been acquaintances. You exchanged basic pleasantries, nothing more. He was smart. Incredibly so. Even in silence, his eyes were constantly assessing, watching everything.
You felt sorry for him. Sorry that he was stuck in an awful district with awful people. Sorry that he’d been manipulated by Lucy Gray, that District girl who you believed was only using him. How awful those District people were.
Then, near the end of summer, after Sejanus Plinth’s death, Coryo returned to the Capital. And he was different—hardened, colder, more toned. But the way he looked at you was also different.
It began with simple compliments during classes at University. Compliments that made you blush. Then came walks to class, studying together, dinners. And before you knew it, you were standing beside him as the First Lady of Panem, ever so cold, calculating, and calculating. You saw the side of him he only allowed you to see—the soft, loving Coryo you had come to know and love.
And now here you were. Just two years into his presidency. The grand hall of your home was packed, its glittering elite seated in perfect rows as cameras broadcasted the event to the districts. Tonight, the event was designed to be a spectacle—a night of carefully crafted rhetoric.
You stood at the podium, poised, regal, your silk gown flowing over the unmistakable curve of your belly. Coriolanus had urged you to rest, to stay seated during the event, but you insisted. This speech was important.
The initiative you were launching, The Future of Panem Fund, symbolized progress—a new focus on education and healthcare for the next generation. It reinforced Coriolanus’ image as a leader who not only brought order but invested in the future. As his wife, you played a key role in solidifying that vision.
Standing before the audience, you smiled, your voice unwavering. “Good evening. I would like to thank you all for taking the time to come tonight. I assure you, it will be worth it,” you began, the polished ease of a practiced speaker settling over you. A sweet smile, a perfect face, the ideal First Lady for their perfect President.
“For too long, we have focused on the present—on survival, rebuilding, improving. But tonight, we look beyond the now. We look to what comes next. What comes tomorrow.”
A wave of nods rippled through the audience, all of them hanging on your words. You had crafted this speech carefully, balancing inspiration and strength.”
“The Future of Panem Fund is not just an initiative; it is a promise.” Your hand rested lightly on your belly. “A promise that every child in the Capital will have access to education, healthcare, and the resources to grow strong and capable.”
Applause rippled through the hall, and beside you, Coriolanus stood composed, his sharp gaze never leaving you.
You took a steadying breath before continuing. “Because the future of Panem is not written by chance. It is shaped by those with the will to guide it. Together, we will build a nation that does not just survive—but thrives.”
The applause swelled, echoing through the hall. You allowed a brief smile, savoring the moment—
And then, the contraction hit.
Your breath hitched, pain radiating through your abdomen. You gripped the podium, forcing yourself to maintain a serene expression. You weren’t going to falter.
Coriolanus noticed instantly.
Though he didn’t move, you could feel his attention shift, his calculating mind assessing every detail.
Still, you pressed on. “This fund will ensure that every—” Another contraction. This time, your breath left you in a slow, controlled exhale. You gave a short laugh, shaking your head.
Oh.
Oh, this was happening.
You turned to Coriolanus and, in a voice that carried through the microphone, murmured with quiet amusement, “I do believe I’m in labor, my dearest.”
Silence.
Then the hall erupted.
Laughter, cheers, applause—thousands of people on their feet, reveling in the spectacle. This was their perfect moment—their President, his wife, and the arrival of their child, the future of Panem.
But Coriolanus didn’t see it that way.
For the first time, his mask cracked. His usually unreadable expression betrayed sheer disbelief.
You, however, were laughing softly, gripping the podium as another contraction struck. “Well,” you exhaled, glancing back at the crowd, “it seems the future of Panem is arriving a little earlier than expected.”
More laughter, more cheers, more applause. Half the room was celebrating, while reporters scrambled to capture every moment as though it was a privilege to witness.
Coriolanus finally snapped into action.
“Go,” he barked sharply to the peacekeepers, “Bring the doctor. Now.”
The peacekeepers moved immediately, but Coriolanus was already at your side, one hand pressed to your back, the other reaching to steady you. His grip was firm, unwavering, but you felt the tension radiating off him. More peacekeepers formed around you, escorting you out of the hall and to the private part of your home.
“You should have been resting,” he muttered lowly, his voice tight as he guided you away from the podium.
You smirked despite the pain. “And miss my big speech? Not a chance.”
His jaw clenched, but a faint twitch of his lips betrayed something softer. “You’re insufferable.”
“And yet,” you teased breathlessly, leaning into his support as another contraction hit, a small groan escaping, “you married me.”
Cameras flashed as Coriolanus led you toward the exit, his grip protective, unyielding. The crowd cheered, watching their leader—newly cemented in power—prepare to welcome his heir, the new generation to rule Panem.
   It was a perfect spring Sunday not to cold and not to hot. Y/n and Steve had decided to do some spring cleaning around the house. They had almost gotten everything done except the kitchen. Sitting down at the island for a mini break, when they hear little foot steps come running in to see their 4 year old daughter Layla with a giddy glint in her eyes.
"Daddy! Please come play hide n seek with me!" Layla pleaded giving her father puppy dog eyes.
  Steve looks at Y/n as if asking if it was okay. Y/n giggled before nodding.
"Alright only for a little. You better go hide!" Steve said, as Layla shouted "yay!!" before running off to hide.
"Are you sure? I don't want you to feel like I'm making you do everything." Steve asked. Y/n waved him off before leaning in and whispering.
  Little well known fact about Steve he never wanted to be one of those boyfriends/husbands that made their wife to do everything around the house or in general. Whether it stemmed from his own father and his actions or for his actions in the past. So when occurrences like this happens he needs a bit of a reassurance.
"You don't make me do everything plus I'm just cleaning. You are awful at that especially the kitchen! Which is what I'm doing now." She said in a joking manner. Hoping to lighten his guilt.
  Steve huffed at her comment.
"I'm not that bad..." he said.
"At cleaning the kitchen yes you are!" Y/n giggled. "Now go play hide n seek with our daughter." He smiled.
"Alright! Ready or not here I come!" Steve shouted lightly before getting up off the stool at the kitchen island.
He checked around the downstairs before going upstairs and as he was about to walk past Laylas room going into Layla's room until he heard a giggle. Smirking as he headed inside.
"Hmm.. I wonder where Layla is? Is she under her bed?" He said as he checked. "Hmm nope not under there." As he heard another little giggle.
"oh no! She's not under there either! Oh where oh where could she have gone? I guess she's not in here!" Steve said playfully trying to full his daughter. As he neared the closet. Hearing a sweet little giggle again.
Before she slowly opens the door and he grabs her. She lets out a surprised scream and starts laughing as Steve tickles her.
"Ahh! I found you!" Steve said, ticking her as she laughed.
  Layla manages to stands up. "You scared me daddy! But I am so happy you found me!" She said! Wrapping her small arms around his neck.
"Oh I'm sorry I scared you.." Layla pulled away ever so slightly. "It's okay! I forgive you!" Before going back into the hug.
"I love you daddy!" She whispered. Steve smiled hugging and give her a kiss on the forehead.
  Neither of them noticing Y/n leaning on the frame of the door way as she watched how much their daughter adored her father. Steve looked over smiling which Y/n returned.
"Alright. Layla can you please go clean up your toys in the playroom?" Y/n asked. Layla pouted not wanting to do it. Looking at her father with big eyes.
"Layla you have to do it... and after we can go get ice cream!" Steve said trying to bribe her just a bit. Laylas eyes lit up before getting out of her father's arms.
"Okay I'll do it!!" She said excitedly before running out of the room.
Y/n giggled. Giving Steve a 'are you serious look?' Which Steve shrugged his shoulders. Coming up and wrapping his arms around her giving her a kiss on the lips. She kissed back. Leaning against the hug smiling up at him.
"She absolutely adores you. You know that?" Y/n said. Looking at Steve in admiration.
"Well we did have experience before hand." He said, remembering the group of kids who are now all out of school and pursuing their own careers. After everything that happened. They still were all okay.
  Y/n laughed remembering her brother and his friends that coincidentally they both ended up looking after taking the roles of the 'babysitters'.
"And to think of it wasn't for my little punk of a brother we would have never met." Y/n said.
"I really have a lot to thank that little shit for.."
y/n laughed.
"That little shit is going to be your brother in law." She said. Steve sighed before laughing."Now come on you promised us ice cream." Grabbing his hand pulling him away to get their daughter. He laughed shaking his head.
  Thinking how he wouldn't have it any other way...
Word count: 314
(Warnings: Not fullyproff read, Short & Sweet, fluff, teasing)
"Heartbreak is one thing my egos another I swear you don't embarrass me motherfucker.."
~~~

"It must be so embarrassing for you dating somebody like Junior.." Bellatrix cackled.

Ever since fifth year when Y/n started seeing Barty it was always the same thing.

"It must be so embarrassing to ever date that fool!" A student said, after Barty had caused a ruckus in the great hall.

"Sis I love you. I do but.. Crouch? Really?" Sirius/Padfoot teased.

"I'm going to have to agree with Sirius on this one.. even though Barty is a good friend of mine.." Regulus Agreed with Sirius. Y/n rolled her eyes as she saw Sirius smirk.

"Wait.. you're seriously dating him?" A Ravenclaw guy who had kept trying to ask her out asked.

Has lead to this very moment, to Barty realising maybe he is an embarrassment for her and that his father was right. Just like everyone else..

"Maybe this isn't meant to be.." Barty said, his eyes and head lowered.

One thing about Bartimus Crouch Junior is as much as he acted like he didn't care. He did.. it got to him like his father has multiple times. Which makes him second doubt.

"Hey look at me." Y/n said, lifting his head. Making him look at her.

"Heartbreak is one thing my egos another. I beg you don't embarrass me... Bartimus Crouch Junior." She declared placing a soft kiss on his lips. She pulled back giving him a small smile only for him to pull her back in.

"You have a way with words black." He said, smirking. Pressing a kiss to her jaw.

"Don't I know it, Crouch." She replied. He pulled her down flipping her onto the bed as she squealed and laughed.

Taking Back What’s Mine

Henry Creel/001 x reader

Taking Back What’s Mine

(Summary: Peter/Henry/001 has come to take back what's his...)

Masterlist

(Warning!: Possessiveness, Dark!Henry, Manipulation, Yandere Themes, Forced Relationship, implications of violence and murder.)

   When you first met Peter/Henry you thought he was sweet kind caring.

  When you both started to call it a 'relationship' he became very different.. he became very possessive, Manipulative, and dare you say Jealous no matter who you talked too. Whether if it was one of the other faculty members or one of the children.

  The one orderly you used to talk to all the time was Lucas, he was the first one you met in the lab, he showed you around as well as helped you when ever you needed it. One day, after he helped you with some files. You were called to Brenner office be told the god awful news that he had an accident in one of the experiment rooms and passed away.

  You knew that it was an 'accident' you knew that someone had done it and you had the very suspicion that it was your 'boyfriend' Henry. You started to become, nervous...scared even, you didn't know what to do, so you went to Brenner... or tried to. Before, you could get to his office somebody wrapped a hand around your mouth, with a cloth wrapped around it, and dragged you into a room.

  When you woke up, all you could hear was screams, gun shots, and the blaring of alarms. You opened your eyes to see a little girl with her knees to her chest not just any girl but, eleven. She looked even more terrified than you.

"011?" You asked to make sure it's her. She looked at you with teary eyes. You quickly got up and went over to her. "What happened? What's going on?"

"It's all my fault.. I trusted him.. b-but.." "Hey, eleven you need to calm down for me for a second and tell me what happened... please." I said, looking at her with pleading eyes.

"T-the blonde orderly... he said that him me and you would escape. I-I took the thing out of his neck so that we could a-and he has powers as well and k-kil-killed the men and brought me in here and showed me that he's 001. A-and now I-I think he's killing everyone else e-ev-even the other siblings." She explained with a shaky voice, and tears rolling down her eyes.

  My breath got lodged in my throat. I knew it was him... "Eleven, did he show you a way out?" I asked, she nodded going over to a pipe. "T-this is where he said I could escape.." she said.

"Okay, eleven I need you to go in there and meet me outside okay.." "N-no I don't want to leave you here." She said. You sighed.

"O-okay. I need you to wrap your arms around my neck and also hide your face into my neck okay. Please do this for me. I'm going to get us out of here.." She nodded as I lifted her up and did as you told.

  You took a deep breath and opened the door, as soon as you did you could have instantly gotten sick or fainted when you were faced with the smell of blood, seeing it everywhere along with bodies of staff members, guards, and the other children. You heard elevens breath hitch you put your arm on her hand whispering,"it's okay don't look.."

  You began walking towards the office to get your keys, seeing more and more bodies blood, you came across the testing room where 010 and Brenner that was next to where you needed to get your keys, seeing both of them gone. You tried to stay as calm as possible for eleven but she could tell you were just as terrified. You quickly and quietly opened the door, got your keys and closed it. When you came back out, you heard a horrible high pitched scream not that faraway from where you were. You hesitantly looked over to see the bodies ended near the rainbow room. Your breath hitched.

Without another thought, you took off speed walking to get to the stairs so Eleven and you can both get out safely. Trying your best to not make any noise while you had eleven in your arms. Not looking back for a second you made it to the door to the stairs. Used the key card pushed the door open and took off running not caring how loud the door slammed. You ran as fast as you could with Eleven in your arms until you got your car. Putting Eleven in the back seat and you in the front, driving as far as possible from the awful place.

(Two years later)

After, that night at the lab you took Eleven to your home. You both decided you wanted a fresh start so you did or at least tried until El came across a group of kids looking for their friend Will Byers. You both decided to help them as well as Joyce, Jonathan, Nancy, and Hopper. Unfortunately the lab had found both of you but thank the heavens the demogorgans got them.

After, that huge fiasco Hopper let you both stay at his cabin in the woods to protect El and you. You couldn’t be more grateful the three of you became close it felt like an actual family. It was peaceful for awhile. Until, their was more problems going on with Will and more demogorgans. El going missing or well to find her true parents, to reuniting with everyone, to closing the gate to the upside down, and to Now, Eleven was currently hanging out with the gang and her newest friend Max.

While, you were peacefully reading on the porch of the cabin. You got up to start some cleaning to help hopper out a bit when you suddenly heard a all to familiar voice behind you..

“Y/n..” You slowly turn around to see him.

“W-what h-how d-“

"Oh, Y/n I told you I'd come back for you.." He took a step closer, which made you back up into a wall. "Didn't I?"

You still couldn't believe he was right in front you after all this time, thinking you and Eleven had gotten away. Of course, you were wrong.

“I’ve missed you so much. I tried to find you ever since.” He said, caressing your cheek.

You slapped his hand away and tried to push him away but because of his damn mind powers he kept you in place.

“I went back to the room but you weren’t their
 you left.. without me
” he wrapped a hand around your neck forcing you to look at him. “We’re you just going to leave me their? Hm? After all of our plans we had made?”

“T-those plans changed after, I found out who you really are and for what you have done!” I snapped.

“I did it for us baby. So that we could be free.” “What about the children? They didn’t have to die.. you didn’t need to kill them..” you said tears streaming down.

“Oh.. but I did.. the hurt you and Eleven. Why do you still cry for them Y/n after everything they to the both of you? You think you need them, but you don't. You don't. Oh, but I know you're just scared. I was scared once too. I know what it's like to be different. To be alone in this world.” He said, wiping away your tears.

“Come with me.. Come back to me
” He said.

“A-and if I don’t come with you..” you asked.

You saw his eyes go dark with a sinister look.

“Then, I will make sure everything for you hell. Either way you will be coming with me with or without your permission..” he showed you what would happen if you didn’t (which is pretty much everything that happens in seasons 3 and 4) he grabbed your jaw so that you are now fully looking at him. “Your Mine! You belong to me! And I’m not letting you go this time!”

“I-i will come with you.. but please leave them alone.. I will do anything, I won’t run, I won’t get help, I will give up everything
 , just please just leave them out of it
 please. No more..” you asked with tears. He looked at you for a moment debating then smirking.

“As you wish darling.”

And, with that you packed some of your things and left both Hopper and El letters. Before, taking Henry’s hand and leaving.

You’d be lying if you didn’t still have any feelings. Those just don’t just go away. You knew he’d find you and bring you back to him. Tho it hurts you for what he has done and leaves you feeling guilty and a bit disgusted. But, You had no other choice to save your friends family Hawkins. You had to do it. You had no choice.

You knew you could never escape him.. like Henry said you were his so he took back what’s his

“Papa, I’m chasing a ghost
 I don’t know who she is
”

~~~~~~
"Am I going to get in trouble?" 011 asked, her doe eyes looked at Henry with sad expression. The same way you used to when one of the children got hurt..
"No.. no why would you think that?" Henry asked in a sickly sweet voice.
~~~~~

During the 'game', it was 002 against 007, who was only 5 at the time. 002 had thrown him hard against the wall with a hard smack.

Y/n looked at the little boy with her sad doe like eyes with an equal sad worried expression. Once the session was over and all the kids went to the rainbow room.

She left to the nurses station to check on 007. She was glad to see him wake but he had bruises slowly forming. She gave 007 a sad smile.

"Look who's awake." Y/n said with a comforting smile. 007 opened his eyes again with a small smile. "I'm really glad you're okay. And I have something that i think is well deserved."

Y/n said leaning forward slightly in the chair whispering to him. 007 looked at her with a curious expression. As y/n reached into her uniform pocket holding out a piece of candy. 007 eyes widened with a smile. Before jumping up and hugging her.

"Thank you, mummy." 007 said. Y/n's expression halted as tears formed in her eyes and wrapped her arms around the little boy.

"Keep it a secret. Okay?" Y/n said, as she pulled away. 007 nodded hiding it in his sweatpants pocket. "Get some rest."

Y/n smiled as 007 nodded laying back down cuddling up next to his stuffed animal.

Y/n got up and walked over to the station getting it ready for the next shift. She closed the door wiping her tears once she got to her room evidently was the one without any cameras. Not noticing the figure that had been waiting for her.

"Why are you crying?" Henry asked concerned. Which caused y/n to jump started by the voice. She let out breathy laugh.

"You really know how to startle someone.." she said. Turning to look at him. He was right in front of her.

"What happened?" He asked/demanded, whipping away the stranded tears with his finger.

"It's nothing. I promise." She replied, Henry was not convinced but let it go. Wrapping his arms around and kissing her.

~~~~~
"You remind me of someone..." Henry said, while sitting next to 011.
011 glances at him her eyebrows furrowed with a little crinkle between her brows. The image of you came into his mind.
~~~

"I-I just don't get it.." Y/n said, eyebrows furrowed with a little crinkle between her eyebrows.

"They are so young and have so much ahead of them. But instead they are pit against each other in some sick game.. and some of them aren't even old enough to-" She looked over to see Henry looking at the ground. Y/n sighed.

"I'm sorry.. I just wish that I could help them.." y/n said , the second part barely a whisper.

Henry grabbed her arms and kissed her forehead. She laid her head down on his chest and his arms wrapped around her.

"Someday we will..." he said..

~~~
"Who?" 011 asked Henry.
"A girl I used to know. She was confused just how you are now. When she found out what papa was doing... but that story doesn't have a happy ending I'm afraid.." Henry said, his eyes drifting off sadly.
"What...what happened to her?" 011 asked hesitantly. Henry looked at her.
"How about we save that story for a different day.." Henry said, giving the confused girl a slight smile.
  And if Henry was being honest he didn't know the whole story of what happened to the woman he loved for a long time.
~~~~~

  Henry heard 011 got attacked and snuck off to the nurses station to check on her. He saw her and all he could see was you. How her face looked calm and collected yet with a hint of pain etched on to her face. So tired that she couldn't keep her eyes open. Those doe shaped eyes with the long lashes just like you..

~~~
"What happened?" Henry demanded his voice almost sinisterly yet also concerning.
  Y/n furrowed her brows slightly in pain as she sat up. Eyes drifting closed and opening. Henry grabbed her before she could fall laying her back down against him. Her head on his chest.
"That day when you saw me crying. I was with 007 i-I gave him a piece of candy and somebody heard him call me..." y/n heisted the last part.
"Call you what? What had lead to this besides you giving him candy?" Henry asked.
  Y/n sat up steadily her doe eyes drifting off. Whipping the tears that were starting to come.
"Somebody heard 007 call me mum..." She whispered.
  Henry's eyes widened slightly looking at her. He gently pulled her back so she was lying on his chest as he ran a hand up her arm comforting her. Not long as she drifted off to sleep her face calm and collected but with a slightly pained expression from the torture he had to endure not so long before he found you.
  That night Henry made a silent vow to get you out of that hell hole. And make a wish for you to come true.
  Neither of you knowing that, that wish, that want was already alive and growing.
~~~~

"Mama is dead." 011 slightly snapped at Henry.

"And who told you that?" Henry asked. His eyebrows raised with a knowing look.

"Papa!" 011 Whisper shouted. Henry gave her a knowing look. 011 eyes widened with realisation, just like you used too. "Who doesn't always tell the truth..."

~~~~
Y/n's eyes widened with realisation as she realised why she has been so tired and nauseous lately. Y/n paled at the fact she just bestowed upon.
"Hey, you okay?" Henry asked. As he noticed how pale you had gotten. Y/n nodded slightly before collapsing. Henry caught her as her eyes rolled back.
...
"You can't see her." A nurse said blocking Henry from seeing her.
  His eyes drifted to see Brenner giving him a stern look and whisper to a guard. As the guard took him away. That was the last time he saw you.
"You will be put into a secluded room and will be watched and taken care of during the 9 months and when you have the baby it will become part of the system." Brenner said sternly. Y/n nodded slightly before looking away with tears.
~~~~

"I didn't lie 011. When I talked about your mother." Brenner said. 011 looked at him confused.

"Your mother is gone. She had died not long after she had you. It's wasn't because of you.. she got sick." Brenner said. 011 realised.

"Henry said that I reminded him a woman."

"That woman was your mother... and Henry.." 011s eyes widened as she processed the information.

"No.." She whispered. Staring at Brenner in horror.

"Yes 011. Henry is your father and that wom- Y/n is your mother. They were secretly together when they were in the lab. And that is how she had you." Brenner said.

  011 swallowed hard before asking the question she's been pondering on.

"Do I look like her?"
