wicked posting twice within a few minutes. crazy

anyways we're painting a mural in my elective art class on lgbtq, poc, female, etc artists rn and the other week we were listening to the wicked soundtrack while painting (bc the teacher and 4 out of the 5 students are theatre kids) and popular came on and during that one part we all banged on something and screamed "RIGHT 👹"

can y'all imagine a room of middle schoolers screaming that bc I can and I giggle every time I remember it.

anyways thought y'all might appreciate that.

But unfortunately my school can only do musicals appropriate for young kids (we're a K-12 school) and the local community theatre doing ride the cyclone you have to be 18+ so 💔 probably not gonna do ride the cyclone ahshshs

honorable mention to Jeremy heere from bmc, I could play him very well because my range is within the range they have him sing in, and I kinda act like him, but I fear I am afab non binary (though i do play a man in the current production im in..) and again my school is a K-12 school so no 💔

I'm part of my high school theatre company's set crew (im the only one on set, the only other person on stage crew is the stage manager) and I just went into storage to measure some of the set from last year's show and got hit with memories.

Oh, Valentine's Day? Hahaha, I have rehearsal.

I might make a few posts throughout the week expressing my love to these songs. You have been warned.

Just listened to 'Confrontations' in Jekyll & Hyde, and THAT SONG IS AMAZING!!! The deep parts of Hyde were so powerful, and the rapid switching was great! I especially love when notes were held and stretched out, send shivers all over my body! It also tells a really cool narrative.

Having a migraine during a tech rehearsal is legitimately the worst thing ever.

Backstage is busy and chaotic, then you go onstage and the lights are so blinding it feel like you're getting stabbed in the head with a dagger.

I put together an audience to watch me practicing my audition song for the school musical. They're very kind and non-judgemental. Except the one standing next to the computer. He bit me.

Waiting for the school theatre director to announce the spring musical is killing me... apparently she said it would be announced in 'a couple hours', but that was 4 hours ago.

I may be fucking my chances of going to college right now, but at least the GPA is high enough that they won't kick me out of theatre.

(But seriously, if I make it through high school, I don't think any college will want me with the grades I have)

we decided on this semester's show, yall! and I'm going to be acting in this one, too

it's called Murder at the Ballet by Jeffery Goffin, its a cool 1940s murder mystery with all the gender roles swapped

I'm actually really excited for this one

the moment I start referring to asking if I can leave rehearsal early to work on things for the show at home as "asking for the day off" you know I should be getting paid

anyway, we're split into groups to practice our monologues with/to and cuz the teacher trusts me (this is my 4th year doing it after all) I'm with 3 newbies

well one of them likes to sass back when I tell him what to do, I mean he'll do it but I think he doesn't think I should be bossing him around

hey guys remember that time when the entire tech/stage crew of the Music Man was sick right after the show last year cuz we worked ourselves to the bone in close quarters but refused to admit any of us were sick until the show was over

Hello! Some People may see this as "chronically online" take bur I disagree.

So, I'm non binary and I am also someone who's very passionate about musical theatre and singing, I've had almost 8 years of theatre experience and I've been thinking. A lot of people typically will say "girls" when they mean higher voices, and honestly it can cause a lot of dysphoria for me. So i think its important we start using the terms lower voices and higher voices more when describing a song or a role, especially considering even for cis people not everyone's voice fits into the typically male or female vocal range.
