august 27th: what is your favorite season? why?
winter! definitely. i just love the vibes - i love sweaters and sweatpants and cozying up indoors with a good book. and also, of course, snow ( although it doesn’t snow much where i live :/ ). also christmas easily beats any other holiday ! 🎄🌨
day 25 - what’s your go-to study method? are there cases in which you wouldn’t use it?
my go-to study method is flashcards! i use it for prettyyy much everything, but definitely not math. for math, i watch videos on khanacademy as refreshers, and do their practice problems. for anatomy and geography, i play games i find online. so i def don’t use them for everything, but flashcards are extremely useful to me!
day 24 - what’s on your desk? do you function best in a tidy or messy space?
here are very realistic photos of my desk ! i didn’t edit them or anything and i didn’t clean my desk after doing hw so ! um i would say it’s a good combo of tidy and messy. i have lots of things out, but i don’t have loads of trash or papers soooo yeah :)
day 22 - do you use color-coding? explain your system!
yes!! i have a very elaborate system :) red is for circling notes that go together. yellow is for definitions. green is for numbers/formulas/dates/equations. teal is for highlighting subtitles. light blue is for people/names. darker blue is for sub-subtitles 😂 purple is for important things. pink is for examples. red PEN is for the most important things. and lastly, purple pen is for parts of the body (i rly only use that for anatomy lol). this may seem like a lot of work, but it’s really not, and it genuinely helps me find stuff within my (usually) very detailed notes. :)
p.s. sry for the super dark picture, i have trash lighting in my room
Do you ever just make weird notes in the middle of the night?
1-9 notes: your post was seen 10-99 notes: your friends found your post good, possibly some of their friends too 100-999 notes: strangers in your broader circle find your post good, many people whose names you’ve never seen 1000-9999 notes: your post is popular and widely circulated in your subculture; it has circulated to people with wildly different worldviews who are still basically united by some interests 10000-99999 notes: people’s commentary on your post has started to become repetitive; people melt together into a samey mess; every possible misinterpretation of your post has happened a couple times 100000-999999 notes: your post is less and less seen as something written by you and more and more seen as “one of those things from the internet”. people openly talk about you in the notes as if your identity is a mystery, despite there being a link right there 1000000+ notes: people start to make pilgrimages to your blog to ask you if you are the source of the post; possibly someone writes an article on a news website about your post and how many notes it has
The semester has hardly started and you think it's already a good idea to start studying for finals?
I think its a good idea to avoid the panic looming at the end of the semester. I don't need a crystal ball to predict the posts on Facetumblinstatwitter - students stressing about what grade they need on the final to pass their class rather than actually studying. In attempt to snuff this distress I have a few proven habits if used throughout the whole semester will make finals week more zen.
1) Office Hours
As intimidating as the master behind your grade may seem the value of visiting your professor during office hours well outweighs the fear. Sometime not even the internet has the answer to your problems. After exhausting the knowledge of your friends, teaching assistant, and solutions manual studying can feel hopeless. Professors can often detect when your thinking is heading in the right direction and how to help you out if you are completely lost. Remember that they want you to succeed as long as you are willing to put in the effort. You can get the most out of office hours by trying the problem first, and coming up with question beyond "I don't get it". It is obvious when you are putting forth your best verses just fishing for an answer.
2) Optional Homework Is Mandatory Homework
Don't be fooled by a professor's modern teaching ideologies of "graded homework is a waste of time". Even if the professor assigns optional practice problems for your success in the class "optional" in professor speak means"mandatory". Why not become as comfortable with the material as possible? Understanding concepts a little at a time is much more manageable then cramming at the end of the semester.
3) Allocate Study time
Studying for courses between classes and attending your weekly study group may seem like enough time was dedicated. After recollecting the number of times you checked twitter you realize not a lot of studying went on. Printing out a copy of your class schedule and blocking out time strictly for studying will help you visualize how much time is needed. Two hours of study time should be dedicated for every credit you have per week. As a full time student of 12 hours that would be 24 hours of studying a week. As an engineering student with a 12 hour course load you square it and get 144 hours of studying (just kidding). If focusing for longer than the duration of a Spongebob episode is difficult for you consider using the 50/10 study rule. Study for a solid 50 minutes and then take a 10 minute break (not the other way around).
4) Take Useful notes
While attending lectures (and not sleeping in) be mindful of what you jot down. Will you be able to decipher your chicken scratch by finals week? Reconsider what will be useful to write down as a homework reference and what to underline for review during finals. Take advantage of presentations and notes professors posts online so you can record only what's most important to you. As the only person in your study group with legible notes you have rights to charge a Chipotle burrito tax every time they want to copy them.
I've started learning Clair de Lune on the Piano, the piece is wery beautiful. The piano piece itself is not so hard to play, the hardest part is too keep the sheets ON the piano. Clair de Lune is TO LONG! I can't read the notes, because the sheets constantly fall down (especially when i try to move them)
I want to play a shorter piano piece next time....

I studied for 6 hours today. It feels so good to study. I wish for academia to take over my life and consume me. I want to be a workaholic.
03/26/16 // 9:15am // My outline for my philosophy paper on William Lycan’s essay, Robots and Minds, it’s actually a really interesting topic! One of my favorites from the semester so far for sure. Next step, actually writing the paper hahahaha ohno

8/100 days of productivity
Started doing my maths homework today and I’m planning to get all my homework done as soon as possible. Nothing feels better than having all the stuff already done. And I got really excited about planning the birthday party for my sister and figuring out new posts for my blog. I’m thinking about inculding some studyblr inspired posts because this community is so motivational :)

Day 8: notes
Today was a productive day where I made notes for two of my tests coming up - maths tomorrow (see the arithmetic and geometric series formula cards) and then biology the day after (pages and pages of osmoregulation notes because it’s so content-heavy that I had to handwrite them to actually memorise properly!) The colours I used for both notes just happened to coincidentally match, so I stuck them together for today’s photo. Now is it a coincidence that my tests are one day after the other or are my teachers just messing with me?
16.01.17 // Thank you for 7000 followers! Haven’t been able to post much lately, but here’s a peek to my mathematics notes back from my IB years!
