you had run into her a couple times at school, bumped into her at a couple parties

but other than that, you never really talked to her

except for when you were younger

you and cassie were best friends, inseparable.

and you were in love with her

every second of every day, you were in love with cassie howard.

every hour, ever day, every week, and every month of every year.

until tenth grade.

cassie started hanging out with different people, started standing you up when she was supposed to come to your house after school

slowly but surely, she was leaving you.

you were never together in the first place, but you never thought she would leave you

but she did

you barely talked anymore, but you always made eye contact in the hallways

a feeling deep inside of you made you think she still cared for you, still wanted to be your friend

but she wasnt, so you wouldn't give her the time of day.

you started hanging out with a bad crowd, doing drugs and getting into trouble

cassie hated it but she thought she couldn't stop you, so she never tried.

one day, you sat next to her at a party and she started talking to you, trying to catch up with you

you had a feeling she was trying to make up for leaving you

you didnt care.

soon, she started talking about nate, how much she loved him, how much he loved her

only, you knew he didnt. you knew what real love felt like, and that wasnt real love that nate felt.

you hoped she wasn't actually in love with him

instead, you got blackout drunk with her at every party over the course of four months, and that was enough.

but one night, at a pre-graduation party, when you both were very, very drunk, you and cassie had sex.

or at least that's what you told yourself.. and what she told you..

the morning after, you woke up next to her in your underwear, and you somehow still remembered what happened.

so when she woke up, you asked her if anything happened the night before, as a way to see if she remembered it

she said she didnt think anything happened

you were upset, but didnt say anything. the more you thought about it, the more thankful you were that she forgot.

a couple days later, you finally graduated

but.. you didnt show up to graduation, you were getting high with your friends instead

cassie was worried, to say the least. really, really worried.

you see, over the four months before you two hooked up, you and cassie got close again, whether you liked it or not

you were hesitant, but cassie made you feel better about it, telling you that she wanted to go back to you every day that she wasnt around you

but she finally realized something, and she needed to tell you.

cassie tried looking for you after graduation. eventually, she ran into one of your friends at a liquor store. she asked where you were, they told her. when she saw you, she ran to you as fast as she could, because somewhere between looking for you at graduation and seeing you on the side of the road, high as a kite, she realized something. she felt differently about you. something was different. she knew you loved her, you told her at the end of ninth grade. she never told you, but that's the reason she left you. she couldn't be around you knowing she was hurting you by not loving you back. she hoped that leaving you would make you lose feelings, but she quickly realized it never did.

she ran up to you, embracing you in a tight hug. she never wanted to let you go, but you pushed her away. "fuck off, cassandra." shit, you were really mad, huh? you never called her cassandra, never in the 13 years you knew her. you met in pre-school, and you never once called her cassandra, not even when you were screaming at her about how much of a bitch she was. she sighed and backed away. "I know you're still in love with me, y/n."

you and cassie met in math class

even If math wasn't your forte, you still got pretty good grades

you had always been proud of your ability to get straight A's

cassie sat next to you, talking to maddy about how much she hated math class

you turned away, not wanting to speak to the two popular girls in fear that they'd make fun of you

but cassie turned to you and asked you for help on the upcoming assignment that day

"hey, you're smart right? could you help me with the assignment?" you looked at her with wide eyes, unsure of what to say. your face turned slightly red as you nodded your head slowly. "um, yeah.. sure" you were confused, why did she ask you? I mean sure, she sat next to you sometimes but it was usually a coincidence. she muttered an 'okay great!' and smiled at you as she moved closer. you could hear your heartbeat through your ears and you could feel it through your chest. why were you so nervous? why were you so afraid of what she thought of you?

after that, you and cassie started hanging out a lot

she was pretty much the only person you talked to

she encouraged you to do things you never thought you'd have the guts to do

like going to parties, sometimes drinking and smoking

and like kissing her.

you were sitting on cassie's bed, it was a cold thursday afternoon and you two were planning your outfits for a party you were going to go to. she picked a blue dress and white heels, and she picked out a blue outfit for you to wear. you were matching. "you um..you look really pretty" you spoke softly, looking at your hands that were placed in your lap. cassie was standing in front of you, modeling her outfit. she turned a dark shade of red and thanked you before stepping towards you and placing her hand on your chin. she lifted your face gently to look at hers, and spoke. "can I kiss you?"

you said yes, of course.

the kiss was short but super romantic

you two didn't talk about it until it happened again.

you were at school, walking to the bathroom. you went in and saw cassie crying, looking at herself in the mirror and cussing at herself under her breath, "maybe they don't fucking like you, cassandra. maybe they never will." you were upset, thinking she was talking about someone else. see, you had caught feelings for the blonde girl way before you kissed her. you turned to walk away but accidentally bumped into a stall door, causing her to look at you with wide eyes.

you looked at her, finally seeing her red, puffy eyes. your heart broke and you immediately wanted to hurt whoever made her feel like that. "y/n, how much of that did you hear?" you paused, staring at the worried look on her face before answering her. "uh, only the last part.." she cursed under her breath before walking towards you and grabbing your hands. "well, now you know" you looked down, trying to think of how to comfort her but you couldn't think of anything. "um, who's the person you were talking about?" she laughed in disbelief, before kissing you gently. after a few moments, she pulled away and leaned her forehead against yours before speaking. "y/n, its you"

nobody really knew who you were, so they were surprised when cassie introduced them to you

you were maddy's closest friend growing up, you would share everything and you would tell each other everything.

through the years, maddy began developing a crush on you, even if she didnt know it. she was confused about her feelings towards you, thinking she was just your platonic soulmate or something

and when you knocked on her door one day after school, telling her about your newfound love with a girl at your school... she didnt take it amazingly.

"maddy, I mean it! I really think I love her.." you two were sitting on her bed, discussing your new relationship while she practiced a new makeup look on you. she looked you dead in the eyes and sighed, rolling her eyes and turning away, "whatever, who even is she? what'd you say her name was? catty?" you laugh at the dark-haired girls attempt to remember cassie's name and quietly correct her before scooting towards her, grabbing her hand and bringing it to your face, silently encouraging her to finish your makeup. the two of you sat in silence, you didnt move or speak, in fear of messing up the makeup she was caking onto your face, and you also didnt want to upset her anymore than she already was. your partners had always been a touchy subject for maddy but you never knew why. you decided to leave the subject alone for the night. even though you knew she'd never hurt you, maddy's scary when she's mad.

"can i?" you asked for her consent as you took your hands away from hers and placed them on the sides of her face. she said something quietly but you were focused on her lips, images of you two making out crossed your mind and you shooed the thoughts away, telling yourself you shouldn't think about her like that. she said something about cassie but you still managed to make out a 'just kiss me' in her words. so you did. you pulled her towards you, connecting your lips and you dropped one of your hands to the back of her neck and the other dropped to hold her hand. you pulled away but she pulled you closer.

you and cassie had talked about it the next day, starting off as a conversation about cassie saying maddy kept looking at you like you hung the moon and stars. when you told her you made out with maddy, she was fine with it, telling you she wouldn't mind being in a threesome. she said it as a joke, but when she saw a sparkle in your eye after she said it, she actually began considering it.

it turns out, the both of them shared mutual feelings for you AND each other. they came to you about this, expecting you to turn them away but to their surprise, you told them you felt the same.

your friends didn't know how to react, they thought you were cheating on cassie with maddy but when they saw cassie kissing you and then maddy, they asked you about it and you explained the situation.

cassie and maddy are the best girlfriends you could ask for.

when you're sick or upset, they absolutely will not leave your side.

nate hates you. he absolutely hates you. in fact, he came up to you at school one day and threatened to beat the shit out of you if you didn't leave maddy and cassie alone. you didnt. instead, you kicked him in the balls and threatened to stab him there if he talked to you again, he didnt.
