Kesava is one of the names of Sri Krishna. Arjuna, in the Bhagavad Gita, calls Him by this name three times. Kesava means “the one with luxuriant hair (kesam)” or “the one who killed Kesi, the demon.”
However, in defining the word Kesava, Srimad-Bhagavatam reveals one of its secret meanings, which is available only to Rasika Vaisnavas (devotees who are expert tasters of pure and transcendental rasa). Srila Visvanatha Cakravarti Thakura explains the meaning of the word Kesava with the phrase "kesan vayate samskarotiti - because Krishna arranges the hair (kesa) of His beloved, He is called Kesava."
