This character is absolutely amazing, probably my second favourite in Nevermore.
He's pragmatic, but also tries to follow his morals. He never tries to be cruel on purpose, and the only time he did was because Ada had crossed so many lines with him, that he couldn't stand it anymore. Yes, he said horrible things to her, but in the end he is ready to help because he's not a little shit like Monty. Go save our girl(s)!
Please don't die you deserve happy things.
The fact that despite everything that has happened between them, Prospero still cares more about Ada’s well-being than her own ‘boyfriend’ and is immediately prepared to put himself at risk to go back and help her
THIS IS WHAT I'VE BEEN THINKING!
Had a conversation with someone who said that "Ekko was in love with Powder, not Jinx. Jinx is not capable of being in a relationship" and I absolutely think otherwise. It's not like Powder and Jinx are two different entities, they are the same person with two different experiences. The Alternate Timeline only shows us how things could have been in a kinder world, but Ekko knows that there is something worth saving, because Jinx is not only her mistakes (everyone is fucked up in this series) and OBVIOUSLY SHE'S NOT JUST HER MENTAL ILLNESS. Jinx still deserves love from her sister, from Isha, from Ekko. This season shows us that, no matter how broken she is, she loves and she loves deeply.
In the end, Timebomb is a tragic love story in Arcane, it's a "what could have been", but the possibility was there. It's just that the world is not kind enough for them to have a happy ending. And I don't think that the only way this would have worked out was with Powder instead of Jinx, because Jinx showed us she was capable of improving, loving and caring for others.
I'm a bleeding heart for characters like Jinx, I know.
Sorry if it doesn't make sense, English is not my first language and I'm also writing this at 1.30 am.
I would be happy to hear other people's opinions on this.
As somebody who has struggled with mental health all of their life and still does, Jinx's romance with Ekko means the world to me.
I'm sick and tired of people considering mentally ill people just "not interested in love" or, on the other side, "not healthy enough to be loved". Which is utterly stupid. Ekko falling for Powder but clearly showing signs of wanting to learn more about Jinx and on his way to love her too, realizing that her damaged past and issues do change her but she's still his girl. It's brilliant writing.
He can't be a savior to her, because there's nothing to save. There's nothing to fix. The whole message Jayce gives with "there's beauty in imperfections" goes hand in hand with Powder's "sometimes taking a leap forward means leaving a few things behind". Ekko goes from wanting to save her to wanting to see more of her and leaving Powder behind to know about Jinx. With Ekko loving Jinx nevertheless it shows that mentally ill people can be loved. And with Powder reciprocating and Jinx making amends with Ekko (with the romantic context behind already seen) it's breaking the whole stereotype of her being this "insane maniac with no remorse and unable to show love".
So I guess what I want to say is that their relationship would've worked in another universe, but I want to believe it could've worked in this one (with time), too.
I am Italian and I was sixteen when korrasami became canon. I remember crying, being so happy to finally see a wlw ship in a cartoon. I will always defend them, they were the first ray of hope for little me.
In all seriousness though---
Korra got a ton---and I mean a TON---of hate, for daring to be a headstrong, non-genderconforming woman of color. So forgive me if I don't react well to "korrasami doesn't deserve it"
Korra already fought through enough misogyny and racism while it was actively airing. She already got enough criticism for not being the "target audience" of 8-12 age males who buy action figures. She already got enough criticism for having flaws as a woman, for not "acting ladylike". She already got enough criticism for not being white or white passing in a show that has ZERO white characters. So when you come at korrasami fans with "they don't deserve it"? Don't be surprised when korrasami fans look at it with a lens of suspicion, because korrasami already fought through the criticism, already fought through being stuck in the "dead slot" air time in nickelodeon (which they were moved to in season three, when the show runners actively started hinting at a wlw ship), already fought through being pulled off air and onto online viewing only, in 2014, for those of you who are a bit young. (Obergefell vs Hodges, the Supreme Court case which legalized gay marriage nationwide in the US, happen on June 26, 2016). "They only held hands in the finale" because that's all they could get away with at the time. They were the FIRST. Bubbeline came later. Rupphire came later. Catradora came later. There are still no notable mlm ships in children's media, so the work ISN'T done. Korrasami fans "screech and yell" at you for not understanding because you accuse them of "queerbaiting" without understanding that they were the FIRST in their time to OPENLY hint at being gay on a a children's television network. In a time, for most intents and purposes in the US, being gay was still ILLEGAL.
And by the way? The Owl House, a recent, animatec children's show on Disney, was recently canceled for not being "the Disney brand". It features a bisexual woman of color (in an EXPLICITLY wlw relationship) as the main character, not unsimilar to Korra. Misogyny is not dead. Homophobia is not dead. Know your history, and know the work isn't done.
Nobody pays her enough for her service.
The way Sevika doesn't even question the way Isha just is with the group now she's just like "Oh shit, not again" Like, she's in the middle of beating the shit out of Smeech, looks over and there's just a kid vibing with the resident homicidal schizo maniac.
About Maddie Nolen, at the beginning I was like: "you seem kind, but cops are bastards and you are going to suffer because of this. You've got a giant X on your back."
Then, I saw her being so excited about Ambessa's plan and I thought that she was going to get corrupted, rather than killed by the system.
In Act II I was back to my first impression, because she seemed against Ambessa's metods (I was probably blinded by emotional damage). I also was a little bit sad for her, because she was a rebound.
At least I can respect that she fooled me, but I will still laugh at her death because it was hilarious.
Also, this girl had really bad relationships if she thinks that what Cait was giving her was "warmth".
Okay, I'm an idiot, but please follow me for a second.
Old Villain with sad eyes, seeing the young hero for the first time: "you're really young"
Young Hero (also an idiot): "I've been younger"
Hello, my name is Alex and before I start speaking my mind about the Natlan (&Sumeru) situation, I want you to know that I'm a white Italian and for that my opinion on racism will always be less important that POC opinions. Also, I'm aware that my anger is nothing compared to the anger and suffering of the minorities that are being misrepresented, but if I don't talk then I would be complicit in the racism that's spreading online.
I'm angry because I'm seeing white people talking about "forcing diversity" and removing "representation" from white people (geez, that's cringe bro). I've also seen really racist offences on every app I'm in.
To all these people: fuck you. We are the most privileged and represented group on this motherfucking planet, everything is about us.
Also, it's not forced diversity, they are using non-white cultures but refuse to properly represent them. This is cultural appropriation.
We stole everything from these cultures: their lands, their freedoms and now we still steal from them. And then we have the audacity to ignore their existence, because god forbid something is not for white people.
You are all quick to complain if there's a black protagonist in a game about Japan, even if he is an historical figure, because the reality is that you are racist, plain and simple. And if you think you are not, you probably can't understand your privilege and the fact that every one of us has been raised in a racist society, and we should listen and learn from others experiences. But noooo, you're all complaining because...what? Why does melanin bother you so much? Get over yourselves. You are trying to silence people, the same thing that we have done to them for hundreds of years. They are tired and they are fucking right to feel like this.
Also, saying that entire countries (Japan, China) are racist is generalising and, considering what's happening with racisms in a lot of weastern countries, we should stop infantilizing another country and start seeing how our governments are enforcing racist behaviours.
My personal story is different, but I know for a fact that if someone creates something with an all POC cast, you will be screaming and having a tantrum because you hate not being the center of attention. Why do I know that? Because it happened in my community with queer creators, where straight people complain if there's an all queer cast. Privileged people H A T E when something is not about them.
To all of the beautiful people who are fighting for their right to be represented correctly: you are incredible, strong and you deserve respect. And I'm deeply sorry for what you're going through.
(Sorry if my English isn't perfect)
