Introduction
Age regression is when someone mentally shifts into a younger state of mind. This can be a voluntary or involuntary experience, and it's often used as a coping mechanism for things like stress, trauma, or mental health struggles. When someone regresses, they may act, think, or feel like a child, toddler, or baby.
It’s non-sexual and should always be SFW.
People might use comfort items like stuffies, pacis, cartoons, or soft blankets.
It helps some people feel safe, comforted, and emotionally secure.
Age dreaming (sometimes called age sliding in certain contexts) is when someone daydreams or fantasizes about being a different age, but without actually regressing. It’s more of a creative, fun, or identity-based experience, and isn’t always tied to coping or mental health.
It can be like imagining yourself as a kid, teen, or even a different age entirely.
It’s often more about aesthetic, comfort, or self-expression.
Unlike regression, people in an age dream state usually stay aware of their current age and don’t mentally shift.
Why Might Someone Regress?
To escape overwhelming emotions like anxiety, depression, or stress.
As a way to feel safe during or after trauma or flashbacks.
To manage dissociation or emotional shutdowns.
Many autistic and ADHD individuals naturally regress when overstimulated, under pressure, or seeking comfort.
Regression can help with emotional regulation or sensory overwhelm.
It brings back the warm, safe feeling of being cared for or protected.
Helps with inner healing, especially for unmet childhood needs.
Some regress to recreate a childhood they never had.
Regression can be part of reconnecting with your inner child.
It allows people to explore past emotions in a safe, nurturing way.
Sometimes encouraged in therapy for healing purposes.
Some people regress because it’s cozy and fun!
Playing with toys, watching cartoons, or cuddling stuffies brings joy and relaxation—no deep reason needed.
Voluntary vs Involuntary?
Voluntary regression is when someone chooses to enter a younger headspace on purpose.
You decide when, where, and how to regress.
You might use triggers like cartoons, stuffies, or soft music.
It's usually done for comfort, self-care, or fun.
You stay aware of your current age even if you’re acting younger.
Involuntary regression happens without trying or planning it—it just happens, usually in response to emotional or mental triggers.
Can be caused by trauma, stress, overstimulation, or flashbacks.
You might suddenly feel younger, helpless, or confused.
It’s often harder to control or snap out of.
Sometimes people don’t realize they’ve regressed until afterward.
Disclaimers !
Note that age regression/dreaming is ALWAYS 100% NON-KINK/SFW. Age regression is usually used as a coping mechanism; do not make fun of anyone's regression. Respect a regressor's boundaries. SYSTEMS ARE 100% VALID WHEN THEY HAVE LITTLE ALTERS! Terms that are nsfw are such as cgl, ddlg, kink, littlespace (sometimes, unfortunately!) and most abbreviations. Appropriate abbreviations are things like Agere, Agereg, Petre, Agedre, Petdre, Cg (just caregiver, or crgv or a less similar to cgl abbreviation.) SFW meaning safe for work. all age regression is SFW. there is no such thing as NSFW agere; that's just kink invading privacy. Minors & Adults are both capable of age regressing or caregiving. there is not a "right" way to regress other than keeping kink out of the community.
Hello! I'm back with another au idea for you all on this fine day! I hope you enjoy! :D
In this au, Arthur learns of the prophecy of Emrys and the Once and Future King before he learns about Merlin's magic. Because of this, he thinks that the golden age of Albion will result in Merlin becoming Emrys and thus losing his soul to magic. So, to ensure that Merlin is never taken from him by magic, Arthur resolves to make sure that there is no peace in Albion, so the golden age can never come to pass.
While this premise might seem angsty, I personally would see it more as a crackfic where everything Arthur does to try to prevent peace and prosperity winds up making everything more peaceful and prosperous instead!
Arthur would try to plunge Albion into chaos and war in a variety of ways, but all of them backfire on him. As a method of last resort, Arthur repeals the magic ban because he thinks that it'll ruin Camelot forever, only for that to be the last thing that finally brings lasting peace to the kingdom.
At one point during this, Arthur would try to reach out to Morgana on ways to ruin all the peace in the land (since, in his opinion, she's the expert on that), but Morgana realizes that Arthur is trying to burn down Uther's legacy and is going to repeal the magic and takes it to mean that Arthur is finally seeing things her way and decides to be friends with Arthur again, since they're now united in their goals of spreading chaos and ruining everything Uther built. Which would, inevitably, lead to more peace and unity in Camelot, against Arthur's best efforts.
I think that the funniest (or most heartbreaking) part of this entire idea is that Arthur is fully willing to deliberately ruin his kingdom and plunge the land into war if it means keeping Merlin by his side. This is because, in Arthur's mind, nothing Arthur can do to ruin his own kingdom can be as devastating to him as the consequences of Merlin being taken from him.
Something I learnt a while ago is that having ADHD and understand it fully doesn't mean you can also understand an Autistic just cuz they are neurodivergent too. I know many autistics hate bright lights, I can't understand why though, I never have an issue with them and just can't imagine what that feels like no matter how much I try. I know facial expressions and implied meanings in sentences can be confusing and often very frustrating for Autistics, but I just...can't figure out why or how that feels. maybe this is also why explaining executive dysfunction to NT's is as difficult as it is, :/ its difficult on both ends, to explain it and to understand it but its worse if they dont even try to support you or get you help when you need it, you dont have to understand it to be a good person :/
‘sugary sweet characters that actually embody horrors beyond human comprehension’ gotta be one of my favorite tropes

Hi 💔
I’m sorry if this message feels sudden—I truly don’t want to bother anyone. I’m Areej, a 27-year-old English teacher and writer from Gaza 🇵🇸, and I’m reaching out because my family is in desperate need of help.
The war has taken everything. We’ve lost our home 🏚, and we live each day under the constant threat of bombing and starvation 🥀. I’m trying to evacuate my family—my parents, siblings, two small children, a newborn , and my sister who is deaf —to Egypt, where we hope to find safety 🕊️.
If you’re able to donate 💌 or even just share our campaign 🔁, it could bring us one step closer to survival. Every act of kindness means the world right now 🌍🤍.
Thank you for taking a moment to read 🙏
And if you'd prefer not to receive messages like this, please just let me know—I won’t message again.
With love and hope,
Areej 🤍🌿

I considered writing and representing an Autistic OC among my other OC's in their story but while I have ADHD, I don't know a whole lot about Autism so I've been trying to research it but medical documents teach me nothing about the daily struggles, how complex it actually is or all the minor details no one ever talks of, so I tried asking Reddit but it keeps deleting my posts and accounts :/ so since I joined Tumblr now, I am considering continuing with that idea and I would really love if those who actually have autism could help me understand it better and teach me what its like <3 To make it clearer what I'm looking to know: What are some everyday struggles or ‘small’ autistic experiences that most people (or medical docs) don’t talk about? Like sensory quirks, social misunderstandings, or routines that feel vital to you? How does autism affect your emotions or relationships in ways that might surprise outsiders? Are there traits or habits you have that you love about being autistic? (I want to avoid making the character just a list of struggles) Do you have any pet peeves about how autism is written by non-autistic people? Tropes to avoid? Literally any detail you’re willing to share would help—even random anecdotes! I want to write this character with depth, not stereotypes. any help is appreciated! 💖
