Question for y’all…

In your fics, if the alternates are there, why?(I know that sounded rude let me explain) Like, were they also reborn/resurrected/whatever or are they just random people chosen to be alternates? I’m just curious because they are mentioned in a lot of fics but I don’t think I’ve ever seen this explained. ✌🏼
