make a deal with god
Some states are stepping up where others are stepping back. Connecticut is the first state to pass a "safe state" law that will protect people who are seeking gender-affirming care or abortion care if it becomes illegal in their home state. Connecticut's law also means criminalizing states can't use out-of-state warrants to arrest parents or guardians for helping their child get care there, and would restrict other states from subpoenaing the medical records of families who sought gender-affirming care outside of their home states.
Some other states are on track to pass laws like this, too. While not everyone has the resources to be able to pack up and move, states passing "sanctuary" laws like this want to make it clear that we are welcome. đłď¸ââ§ď¸
Kestrel-dad not sure how to dad but heâs trying his best.
America is absolutely disconnected to meat
I think I realized this when I had went to see my dad and stepmom one day and asked if I could place my hawkâs food. (A rabbit leg) in the freezer. My step mom was disgusted by the idea that a leg from an animal was in the freezer meanwhile an entire chicken was sitting in the fridge.
Your rotisserie chicken is an entire chicken.
Your pork chop is a hunk of pig.
Your rack of ribs are from a cowâs rib cage.
Itâs like Americans view meat as colorful red and pink hued shapes that just exist and come into the world packaged.
You see so many people getting harassed or even having their content flagged for showing how to process or field dress meat when itâs at itâs freshest. Right after culling. For some reason this is considered âgoreâ by many folks when in reality itâs no more different from plucking a processed chicken after cull.
You also notice that Americans have an idea of whatâs normal meat and what isnât normal meat and thereâs racist undertones that Iâve noticed in a lot of these comments left on foreign cooking videos
You have people that claim a video of a man in a different country preparing something like this is âeating a dog.â Meanwhile this is roasted goat.
You have people whoâs only perception of an edible fish is in fillet or fish stick form and they call something like this nasty because âEww thereâs a head!â Yeah.. most animals have heads..
Some of yaâll need to realize what your meat looks like prior to processing and that itâs prepared in different ways. We also need to erase the stigma behind non traditional meats.

Now that college students no longer have access to their libraries in the same way we used to and have to do most of our learning at home it would be just terrible if we all knew about https://1lib.eu/ a website which has books on basically every topic ever available for free including college textbooks. Imagine if people were researching their thesis without paying for it.Â
DO NOT USE THIS SITE AND DEFINITELY DO NOT NOT TELL YOUR FRIENDS ABOUT THIS SITE, THEY MIGHT START DOING THESIS RESEARCH FOR FREE OR JUST START READING BOOKS THEY FOUND ON THERE FOR FUN BECAUSE THEY THOUGHT THEY WERE INTERESTING. This would be terrible :( :(
Reblog to spread the word so that everyone knows to avoid this site!
actually can we as a community please talk a bit more about how we don't allow people to be neutral on things for some reason. can we talk about how messed up that is.
expecting people to feel very strongly even on things they're not educated on is super dangerous and unhealthy, especially for people who are mentally ill. not just one kind either; the indecisive people, the people with black and white thinking, the people who already have an incredibly hard time not feeling super strongly on something.
it encourages people to basically take a huge stand on something for the sake of not being ostracized and nothing else, and it's just so messed up. it leads to both them getting hurt, AND a higher likelihood for misinformation.
"We'll fire you if you tell others how much you're making" The National Labor Relations Act of 1935 specifically protects employees who discuss their own wages with each other (you can't reveal someone else's wages if you were given that information in the course of work, but you can always discuss your own or any that were revealed to you outside of work duties)
"If we can't fire you for [discussing wages/seeking reasonable accommodation/filing a discrimination complaint/etc], we'll just fire you for something else the next day." This is called pretextual termination, and it offers your employer almost no protection; if you are terminated shortly after taking a protected action such as wage discussion, complaints to regulatory agencies, or seeking a reasonable accommodation, you can force the burden onto your employer to prove that the termination wasn't retaliatory.
"Disparaging the company on social media is grounds for termination" Your right to discuss workplace conditions, compensation, and collective action carries over to online spaces, even public ones. If your employer says you aren't allowed to disparage the company online or discuss it at all, their social media policy is illegal. However, they can forbid releasing information that they're obligated to keep confidential such as personnel records, business plans, and customer information, so exercise care.
"If you unionize, we'll just shut this branch down and lay everyone off" Threatening to take action against a group that unionizes is illegal, full stop. If a company were to actually shut down a branch for unionizing, they would be fined very heavily by the NLRB and be opening themselves up to a class-action lawsuit by the former employees.
"We can have any rule we want, it's only illegal if we actually enforce it" Any workplace policy or rule that has a "chilling effect" on employees' willingness to exercise their rights is illegal, even if the employer never follows through on any of their threats.
"If you [protected action], we'll make sure you never work in this industry/city/etc again." Blacklisting of any kind is illegal in half the states in the US, and deliberately sabotaging someone's job search in retaliation for a protected action is illegal everywhere in the US.
"Step out of line and you can kiss your retirement fund/last paycheck goodbye." Your employer can never refuse to give you your paycheck, even if you've been fired. Nor can they keep money that you invested in a retirement savings account, and they can only claw back the money they invested in the retirement account under very specific circumstances.
"We'll deny that you ever worked here" not actually possible unless they haven't been paying their share of employment taxes or forwarding your withheld tax to the government (in which case they're guilty of far more serious crimes, and you might stand to gain something by turning them in to the IRS.) The records of your employment exist in state and federal tax data, and short of a heist that would put Oceans 11 to shame, there's nothing they can do about that.
Iâm officially becoming apart of the 4% of Black therapists in the U.S.
In studying for (and passing) my licensure exam, finishing up my last hours of internship, and focusing on getting through finals I have had to miss weeks and weeks of work.
I am running low on funds trying to get through big girl job interviews, graduation expenses, and just regular life costs.
If youâve been apart of this journey I thank you, and if anyone wants to offer any support through this last stretch I would greatly appreciate it.

I really wish people would understand that there are other forms of queer rep besides two same gendered people kissing.
A queer character is queer rep regardless of their romance or a lack thereof even. Ace and aro people exist. Trans people exist. Bi people exist. Queer characters are rep by existing, not just by who they interact with. If a character is nonbinary, they are queer rep whether they kiss someone or not. A bi character in a relationship with someone a different gender is still queer rep because they are still bi. Queer characters can even just be friends with one another. They can be single! And still be queer because thatâs who they are not who they do!
This whole trend of deciding if art is valid representation based on romance and ships is reductive and dismissive of identities existing within individuals. And of the communities that we all need.
Just please, stop reducing entire identities down to relationships. Its all good and fun to enjoy your ships, but you have to remember the community is bigger than just romances.
I hate when people feel the need to assign a mental illness to every bad person ever. "this serial killer/politician/abuser probably was a narcissist/had ASPD/schizophrenia/autism/whatever" maybe they weren't though. maybe harmful behavior doesn't always arise from some innate Wrongness. maybe sometimes healthy sane people do bad things on purpose. maybe emotional, empathetic people can be cruel. maybe sane people are fully capable of doing awful things. maybe your normality won't save you from culpability.
when i was a teenager and i learned about how light pollution and a certain billionareâs satellites obscure the night sky and all of its glory that humans have looked up and admired for hundreds of thousands of years, i always kept the mantra âthey would steal even the skies from youâ hidden deep in my gut like a warning
but now iâm in my 20s and in the midst of a plague, having to watch corporate entities like space x and jeff bezos scramble for a piece of the infinite vastness of our universe while weâre all down expected to toil for their gains, live in an age of widespread sickness where we canât be granted healing or rest without a profit, have every single piece of our lives cut up and dressed for sale like a butchered animal, from basic human needs to human expression. and now that same mantra comes to mind, but now instead of a cautionary warning it sits in my chest and my throat bc it has gone from a warning to a certainty. they will steal even the skies from you.
The next time they tell you Americans are âhappyâ with their employer provided health insurance remember that that âhappinessâ is fueled by willful ignorance of what the alternatives are really like and fear of losing what little crappy health care they currently have.
they're cheap for a reason, let them stay that way.
If you buy shit at goodwill with the intention of reselling it for twice what you initially paid for you are not a "sustainable depop girlie" or a "vintage shop" or a "thrift curator," you are a shark.
While there are so many terrible things and stuff to fight for, it's good to stand back and realize that with everyday we're creating a better world.
Have some good news.
Loving men is fun and good actually. Men can be soft and wonderful and caring and kind. My boyfriend has actually improved my life and I donât get why I would feel bad for that. If I see any fellow bisexuals pull the whole âtoo bad I have my (yuck) boyfriend when I could have a good woman :((â bs one more time I will scream.
Men are hot, theyâre handsome, theyâre pretty, theyâre wonderful. Theyâre spectacular, theyâre soft, theyâre caring, theyâre silly, their laughs are like music. Men give some of the warmest hugs, and the best snuggles. This goes for ALL men - yes, even the âfatâ man you saw, even the punk guy with the tattoos and piercings, and men of color. Men are WONDERFUL. Men arenât inherently violent, dangerous, angry animals. Can we please stop vilifying men and men who love men please?
I post this every year but itâs worth it to remind myself to plant flowers, in the garden and in my mind and whenever I get a chance, in the hearts of others.
Please check out the sources and educate yourself more on this!!
not to get political but im begging you guys to stop coming to hawaii. in maui theyre asking to put a âpauseâ on flights bc we literally do not have enough room or staff to service you. the roads are so full that its causing a major backup when ppl need to get to work.
on top of this, i heard that by September? theyre expecting to get rid of the mask rule (if 70% of ppl are vaccinated/all goes well) but ill be honest w/ you, i know many locals arent getting the vaccine and i know plenty of tourist arent gonna take the necessary precautions.
Felt like I needed to post this here, too.

I have been made fun of for not understanding people because I can't process speech sometimes. Snapped at/ yelled at for taking a while at the till because I have arthritis and can't move my hands as fast, or because I use a cane and that makes getting out of the way slow. Told off by people for dropping things in a store because my hands cannot hold on sometimes. Belittled by staff for getting locked in a bathroom because the accessible one wasn't in order or available and I can't always open locks. Told that if I can't handle walking up 3 flights of stairs when the lift is broken I'm probably not cut out for education. That because I can get around with a cane, using my wheelchair is deceitful. That because I can stand for a short time I'm not entitled to a seat. These are a few examples off the top of my tired, currently foggy, head of the way people have used words to belittle, joke about and dehumanise me for being disabled. Words are not "just words" when they humiliate or hurt vulnerable people who are suffering already. Things like this lead to less accessibility, support and resources for us. Ableism isn't "just words" and it never will be.

Even if you donât think vaccines and autism are related ⌠these are some staggering numbers!
The best thing u can do for an indie artist (besides buying our stuff) is to tell ppl about work you like
Recently a couple of the autistic kids I work with have inspired me with openly, unapologetically owning it.
Like one kid saying âif I donât make eye contact itâs because I find that hard and itâs easier to concentrate on what youâre saying if Iâm not looking at you.â
And another one asking for clarification of an ambiguous statement to check understanding instead of just hoping for the best.
And one saying âIâm going to stim now, this conversation is hardâ
I have so much respect for them for being able to voice those things! Itâs inspired me to try harder to do that instead of masking until I meltdown because Iâm so scared of how people will react.
