An update - 2 June 2022

Where have I been? Why have I not posted in MONTHS? Despite feeling like it, I didn’t die!

Learning about library management so I can take better care of my own book collections and potentially get hired for it

Trying my absolute best to understand bioinformatics (It’s not going well, I feel like I’m too mentally worn down for this level of computer stuff.)

Writing out pages in the rough draft and background research phases for some of the open textbooks I want to publish

Sharpening my HTML/CSS skills to make a good website

Coming to terms with the fact I have kidney issues but being ignored by my doctor despite them being the one that tested me

Hoping to start learning Russian again when I have enough free time between studies and preparing experiments

Taking a break from data science for a bit (My understanding never got past pre-calc, technical math expects way too much from me)

...And last but not least, practicing my non-science related essays, because maybe I’d like to try my hand at cultural analysis (for fun)

Anyways, thanks for stopping by, I’ll keep posting art, but that's how my life is going at the moment. I wasn’t expecting to pass 500 followers, but here you guys are! Thank you!

I’m trying to learn how to paint so I can make my own website banners and panel icon things.

I know absolutely nothing about biochemistry but your blog gives off the Best of vibes and I hope you find yourself a very cool rock tomorrow.

Thank you kindly, Anonymous! I'm sorry I hadn't seen this sooner, but I will be on the lookout for collectible Earth formations in the future :)

Revision of some notes on the grapefruit juice effect on drugs, because pulling up a wikipedia page in a room of doctors would be a mistake

Nothing quite like doubting your own legitimacy as a researcher because of one brightly coloured noodle.

When I first got started with directing my own experiments, I had that “I don’t want to be seen with my fancy textbooks because I’ll look like I don’t know what I’m doing!” outlook going on almost constantly.

Now I’m here saying “Hold up, I forgot how this works, let me get the book that I remember learning it from.”

Quick introduction

I share lab notes and doodles relating to medical biochemistry. Hopefully you can learn something new while passing through my page!

⭐ Please don’t use my posts for medical advice. I'm a scientist, not a physician (If I happen to get something wrong or forget a fact, let me know and I'll have it fixed right away)

⭐ I don't tolerate exclusionists, gatekeepers, performative ethicists, or charlatans

⭐ My drawings aren't meant to be taken seriously, I'm doing this for fun

⭐ I have a moodboard page, and it's @peroxide-foam if you're interested in some crispy cleancore and labcore

Sometimes I think "I am an expert in this field and all domains it spans over" then in comes Khan Academy to make me feel like it's asking "hey how did you even graduate, you have the math fluency of a 4th grader"

This is the most simplified I could make it... Here’s a histology “slide” of a human adrenal gland for y’all who “don’t do cells.” (Placement may be a bit inaccurate, cause I stole this from a borrowed notebook.)

Fun fact: I once had someone try to argue with me that the adrenal gland is a “kidney warmer” that does not actually produce hormones, because “it doesn’t look like a real organ.”
