a reminder that
• the Rev Awdry named Mavis after his neighbor
• Daisy and Mavis were the only diesels to have a redemption arc
• Daisy was the first diesel owned by the NWR, and the first diesel to not be prejudiced against steam engines (every female diesel would follow this trend)
• Chris Awdry chose a pair of female diesels to succeed Gordon
• despite both Daisy and Mavis undergoing similar character development, they are unique in personality. They are also friends and don't try to undercut one another
• Annie and Clarabel are written as more sensible than Thomas, the Skarloey coaches are written as unruly and mischievous to their engines, and Henrietta is written as Toby's equal (character diversity)
• the Rev Awdry's wife is the whole reason we have the books, and ergo, the TVS
The man never cared about gender. He cared about good characters.
i will... draw for fun... the things that..... bring me joy ...
WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU
fuck it. [furry-fies your trains]
hey hey! don’t do this!
'lol what drugs did it take for u to come up with this' i lay on the floor and listen to music to have wretched visions
Queer 👏 people 👏 are 👏 not 👏 all 👏 fucking 👏 activists 👏
Stop quizzing us on queer history and asking us questions we aren’t qualified to answer about the world and about politics and about our identities
Stop trying to back us into a corner so you can justify your discrimination on the basis that we don’t know what we’re talking about or can’t “defend” ourselves to you
Stop treating every queer person that stands up and says “I want to be treated like a person” as if they’re an activist
Cut that bullshit out
Marginalised people just want to exist and be happy
I don’t know everything, and that doesn’t make me undeserving of your respect or my human rights you fucker
I don’t even owe you the stuff I do know- I still am entitled to basic fucking respect
I won't stew in silence any longer. My grievances will be heard. AND tagged.
Why is there such a huge emphasis on Edward's 'old age' amongst fans and sometimes in the series itself, but more importantly, fan depictions of him as this decrepit old man. He's at most 17 years older than James. Look at this guy's face, he's like, the face of eternal youthful beauty. He looks like a wry and mischievous fae folk charming you away into a forest where you will fucking never be seen again. GOODBYE.
And don't get me wrong, I like describing/thinking of him as older, it gives his struggles and his dedication more merit and weight, but he's not anyone's peepaw by any means. People act like this poor guy was made in 1806 as opposed to earliest 1896.
Maybe at the time, when he was holed up in the sheds, he was 'older'. Marginally. Like how you look at your Samsung S10 and frown because it's not the S21 ultra. I wouldn't call that a grandpa, would you?
Anyway that's my two cents for what it's worth. If anything.
