๐ revisiting a developmental psych essay to apply some feedback i recently received. today has been so busy, but iโve been more mindful of each task and reminding myself how important it is to take it slow (no matter how overwhelming the to-do list is to begin with). iโve realized that a lot of my work-related anxiety comes down to feeling like iโm racing against the clock. so once those worries start creeping up, i take a second to breathe deep and get a sip of water. itโs been changing the course of my days in the most positive of ways. i hope you are all having a safe wednesday!
The semester is almost over and now i have more time on my hands to read :โ) which is great bcs i missed it, and its my favourite me time activity. How is everyone doing these days? <3
A mood
Learning languages is fun because I love being able to embarrass myself internationally
A BOOK, A BUJO, AND AN ART JOURNAL = the essentials
Something great happened!!
Yesterday I was in an online lecture about qualitative research, everything was pretty normal until I noticed that I was writing in English instead of Spanish. I'm so excited because I finally reach the point where I can think in English.
Thanks for the tag @mindscistudies ๐

3.ZODIAC SIGN: I'm a capricorn (I don't really believe in this)
5.LANGUAGES SPOKEN: Spanish and English (still learning).

7.FAVOURITE SEASON: Tbh I love them all, I love how beautiful everything looks at autumn, how I can stay at home and watch the rain at winter, how colorful is spring even though I'm allergic to pollen, and how I can can get out and know new places in summer.
8.FAVOURITE FLOWER: Sunflowers. I think miniature roses are extremely cute.
9.FAVOURITE SCENT: I love a lot of scents, for example, vanilla, coffee, strawberries, forest, sea breeze or the smell of a natural Christmas tree. Now let's move to something less common, I love the scent of cumin, Idk why I just love it.

20.RANDOM FACT: In Chile people have something called "once", which can be translated as "eleven". It's called "once" because "Agua ardiente" has 11 letters. In the past when miners were working but wanted to sneak off for a sip of agua ardiente liquor they would say "let's go to take"๐๐ง๐๐" so their boss wouldn't know what they were up to, as time goes by it degenerates in a snack that take place something between 6 and 9 pm. Now we eat bread and drink coffee but it started as a code word.
Don't feel obligated to answer this, I just tagged you because I'd like to know you.

๐จ TOXIC PRODUCTIVITY ๐จ
๐Have you ever felt you didn't 'deserve a break'? Or felt guilty when you did take any?
๐ง Then I think you might have a bout of toxic productivity!
โ๏ธWhat the heck is that you ask?
Well, it's essentially the unhealthy need to be productive all.the.time.
๐๐ปI remember watching a reel where the creator said their toxic trait was not going to the ๐ฝ until they finished whatever work they had to. Tons of people in the comments agreed that they similarly had toxic traits too like not eating dinner until they 'deserved it'.
What the heck. No one should ever hold their pee or not eat dinner. You'll just get a UTI and starve yourself.
For what?!!?! No one should be rewarding themselves with basic human needs like food and going to the bathroom!!!! Those are literally things that keep us alive!!!
๐ฅฒDear students and academics alike, please don't do this! ๐ฉ๐ฉ๐ฉ
Taking breaks is being productive
Self-care is being productive. Self-care is not just using face masks and taking bubble baths. Self-care is having boundaries, self-care is holding your ground and saying no when you need to. Self-care is putting yourself first.
Taking time out for yourself is being productive.
๐ At the start of the pandemonium there was some post on Twitter from some butthead that went along the lines of "you better come out of this lockdown speaking another language and having an online business or you suck" to paraphrase.
๐Buddy, why are you patronizing strangers? We're all just trying not to die here. There was so much stuff online about being productive 24/7; yeah sure a lot of people's businesses thrived and tons of people put themselves out there. But shaming people for not doing the same was really a shitty message at a time when people were afraid of what was going on and were losing people they loved.
๐ง You are not a machine, you have needs, and taking breaks and time to yourself is one of them. ๐ซ

Here you have my personal tips to learn English (could work with your target language too) in a more effective way. Some of them may be too obvious:
Watch series and movies in English with English subtitles until you're prepared enough to understand almost everything without them. You will acquire many grammar structures without consciously learning them.
Focus on fluency rather than on accuracy.
Follow English-speakers on your social media.
Read in English things that genuinely interest you so that the learning gets more meaningful.
Avoid memorising words without context.
Don't rely on translations too much, try to guess the meaning from the context. Think in English.
Read the lyrics while listening to an English song.
Quizlet is a great app to make flashcards and study vocabulary. However, instead of creating them with translations, do it with definitions and pictures.
Change your phone language to English.
When you're learning new vocabulary or structures, write down examples related to your life.
Write a diary in English.
And maybe the most important one: don't be afraid to talk, to communicate, to make mistakes. Don't worry about your accent. Forget about what other people may think about you. Keep trying and keep improving.
To all my gals on studybrl.
Remember this is not a race!
You can start late, you can fail, you can start all over again!
I doesnโt make you less of a person. We all fail, we all start somewhere, the important thing here is being patient with yourself and consistent and overall be happy with what youโre doing!
Donโt be afraid of learning and taking care of your mental health at the same time!!
Please yโall, take care and be proud of who you are today and everything yโall did today, keep on the good job guys.
