hold up can we take a moment to appreciate how adorable the doctor’s reaction is to the whole “down boy” exchange

at first he’s all gentlemanly and genuinely concerned that she might have misinterpreted his question about doing young things with young people

and then he gets all exasperated when he realises she’s messing with him

and it’s not until he’s walking away that the insinuation behind her “down boy” comment finally sinks in

I just want to say a Happy Birthday to the 11th Doctor himself, Matt Smith!!!!

Personally he’s my favorite Doctor tied with 10th.

Also Matt is primarily the reason why I started to watch Doctor Who since I watched him in The Crown.

Oh bow ties, Stetsons, glasses (because I’m a glasses wearer myself), fezzes, bunk beds, and a 1960s EVA suit are cool.

If your father-in-law is one of Britain's finest actors, a former heart-throb who played one of the most beloved incarnations of Doctor Who, then it's true. David's not that special.

For the rest of us, he's special.

People don't talk enough about how fascinating Elevenclara were. Like on the surface they seem like a very cutesy couple, they're sort of in the 'honeymoon phase'. But really the doctor sees clara like a puzzle to be solved, their relationship, as much as I love it, is actually a little fucked up.

Even one of the most popular "whouffle quotes" is a sign of this, "you are the only mystery worth solving". Clara thinks the doctor just asked her to come along because he liked her, and that's not entirely false, but its clear the main drive for him in series 7 is finding out who she is.

Meanwhile we also see the start of clara trying to prove herself to the doctor, putting herself in danger for him and taking charge when he is unable to. This obviously continues a lot in series 8-9, this is what I see people talk about as "doctorification".

But what's also interesting to me is that in series 7, the doctor seems to be Clara's only friend. The only other people we see her interact with outside of adventures is the kids she's nannying, and even they end up getting into trouble bc of the doctor. It creates an interesting dynamic where it seems like both their lives revolve around each other, and neither is trying to change that, in fact they're both driving it harder.

A: "But, like, only season 8 and season 9 Clara. I just wish they made the Victorian Clara an actual companion, I hate the Impossible Girl, she was so stupid and had no personality, and also she flirted with Eleven who was so sexist-horny-gross about her skirt, and they both were too flirty, but thankfully that ended, and Clara's relationship with Twelve was so deep and mature, they had all this beautifully written drama that still makes me cry, it wasn't pointless horny flirting, because..."
