i missed killugon so much that i went back to the manga to reread some of their moments together, and this scene during greed island is one of my favorites.
i love how childlike they look in the art. it reminds you that even though they have moments where they fight enemies to the death, they are still children at the end of the day. things like friendship are normal to kids, but killua was never able to experience any of it until he met gon.
the way killua’s eyes widen, almost shocked someone thinks of him as a friend and that it’s gon of all people who feel that way. killua is so used to a world with no emotion or joy, and now he gets to spend all his time with his best friend, who ALSO feels the same way towards him.
to gon, being upfront and honest with his feelings is normal. he was raised by his aunt, a very caring woman, and it was easy for that kindness to become a part of gon's personality. it's easy to say that killua is important to him, that killua is someone he can count on no matter what.
for killua, hearing this means the world. a boy isolated from the outside world, taught to be an assassin, tortured, and ignored, is now face to face with someone who cares about him and isn't afraid to say it.
it's such a simple scene on the outside, but these boys have only recently met, and it is almost like fate brought them together. killua and gon have become so close in such a short time, and yet it's hard to imagine a moment when they weren't by each other's side.
this scene brings back so many memories for me. it reminds me of how, as a young kid, you may be embarrassed to tell someone how much they mean to you, so you duck your head, trying to avoid contact while you think to yourself how happy you are.
since i watched hxh, killugon has become such an important duo to me. as individuals, they are incredibly written characters, and watching them become friends was my favorite part of the series. they mean so much to me! every scene they have together makes me so happy, and i hope we are able to see them again soon <3
my biggest jinmao fantasy is them both getting a full night's sleep. no subtext just pure sleep
one of the many things i love about haikyuu is the care furudate puts into each character. obviously the main characters are tobio & shoyo, but throughout the series we see the other members of karasuno and the other characters on different teams in hq have their own goals & dreams. i think it’s such a big sign of great writing when so many fans of hq have multiple favorite characters besides the ones on karasuno. characters like oikawa, kita, akaashi, bokuto, suga, & hirugami are my favorites because of how well written they are. they are so memorable, relatable, & so easy to love. it’s amazing to see a series where side characters don’t FEEL insignificant. they have their own goals and flaws like the main characters. furudate is so talented!!
THIS IS SO CUTEEE AHHHHH
mitsumi found a friend!
i really do think hakyona is the perfect example of a slowburn. the pining, the angst, the 100+ chapters until a confession. kusanagi wrote peak slowburn and i will always be grateful.
my most beautiful gorgeous prince
Tied up redraw
as always, this chapter was insanely well written. chapter 263 was already "creepy" enough with the dragon gods pretending to be the dragon warriors, but this chapter made things so much scarier.
the dragon gods making a hak clone just to make yona stay was so infuriating. all of her loved ones being used as puppets to keep her stuck in the chalice while yona fights for her way out was so heartbreaking to read.
yona is incredibly resilient, and even when facing the gods themselves, she doesn't back down. she loves the dragons more than anything and has already decided she won't leave them behind no matter what. it's what king hiryuu wanted, and yona will carry his dream out.
hearing the dragon gods say yona is going to the heavens brought me to tears. although she's willing to sacrifice herself to save her loved ones, it's another thing entirely to come face to face with the idea she will never see them again. her terrified face as she falls through the flowers is a beautifully haunting scene. the art and scenery are gorgeous, but the reality of the situation is awful. she has so much to live for and do, and yet it seems like there's no chance for her happiness at the moment. she was given a chance to save them but at the cost of her own life? i don't think she ever thought a moment like this could happen. after all, she always envisioned her reuniting with the dragons and live together again.
finally, seeing the dragons again made me so happy to know that they ARE, in fact, alive, but the scene after made me so anxious. becoming humans at the expense of yona's life isn't something nobody wants. even if zeno is willing to do anything to die, he says he needs to bring yona back to the real world. doesn't matter if zeno no longer sees himself as a part of yona's dragon family; at the end of the day, he will protect her.
zeno's face in this panel tells me he knows what happened to yona. this is one of the most anxiety-inducing cliffhangers we had in a while. i believe the series will end with everyone together, but i have no idea how yona will make it out of this. i'm assuming that zeno might put himself in a life or death situation to bring yona back. or perhaps it's yona herself that has to come back to earth.
this chapter was so insane but so amazing. i'm so excited and very scared for what comes next.
there’s something about mitsumi being so happy that shima is now apart of the theater club that makes me so emotional. she really loves shima so much & seeing shima in this new light, actively working on himself makes her so happy. what a beautiful chapter!
