What’s sad was that I did like it for the first season but then I started to get annoyed with weird plot holes, character motivations, occasionally off putting music, bad acting and horrible dialogue. I binged it in three days with no spoilers. I watched it right after watching SOTL which in hindsight was a bad move because it created an expectation that was not matched at all. Something tells me that I won’t like the books either because the red dragon plot was boring as hell.
The characters were okay but I thought Will was a better character than the character the show was named after. I know it’s different actors so different interpretations of the character Hannibal but he seemed really lack luster and a little repetitive with all that cooking nonsense and talking in riddles and metaphors. Don’t even get me started on Bedelia’s way of communication through breathy whispers of constant riddles that always sound like questions than statements.
...
The one slightly hilarious thing about Bedelia was that she broke confidentiality to casually make a gay joke that only her and the viewers are in on. It was the only human thing she had ever done in the entirely of her character arc.
I watched the arc with no context and it was the most depressing thing I’ve seen in a while. I remember little Sasuke and Sakura doing their shenanigans in OG Naruto to randomly see a flash forward to a shotgun wedding, daddy issues and single mother/deadbeat father tropes. It’s so weird and not the happily ever after I thought the series would have as someone who hasn’t seen all of the episodes.
I’m sorry but this is so bad. Boruto makes me sad for both Sakura and Sasuke tbh. It makes Sakura look super desperate and Sasuke just doesn’t act like he loves her. They don’t have enough organic chemistry. It’s so mood dampening and reads like a bad fanfic.
What ACTUALLY happened in that scene with Cid and Clive....
Naruto is like the greatest love story told accidentally by a guy who with the best intentions, really needed a second opinion.
As someone who is watching Naruto for the first time as an adult, despite being an anime fan for years- I think I honestly may have underestimated how impactful the show is.
I vaguely remember having some friends in elementary school in the year 2008, secretly shipping Naruto and Sasuke but I never bothered to learn more about that because I didn’t watch the show.
Now I see the vision. Honestly I’m quite shocked parents didn’t learn how gay Naruto and Sasuke were and didn’t protest to stop their kids from watching it in the early to late 2000’s. Like you’re telling me, millions of children were watching Naruto and Sasuke declare their love towards each other (platonically I suppose) and just staring at the TV screen, taking it all in with eyes glued to the action. Inspirited by what they say, they went to a website called YouTube and made some of the first AMV ever with Linkin Park playing over the two characters fist fighting eachother in the most angsty way ever?
Damn
Shipping is such a funny thing...
Cause, like... I wholeheartedly believe that Gaara is, or at one point in their youth was, in love with Naruto. Like, the kind of one-sided love that you learn to be at peace with but never truly get over, you know? And I really don't mean that in a depressing way. It totally works for me that he doesn't end up romantically involved with anyone at the end of the canon telling of this story. It just fits with the way I already read his character and relationships.
BUT AT THE SAME TIME...
Sometimes I rewatch those filler episodes with Fu and can't help but think... I could get behind that pairing.
Like, logically, it could never happen, as she's dead for most of the canon timeline... But... Her energy and enthusiasm paired with his overly formal awkwardness? They could have been something really cute and fun, guys. Nobody's gonna convince me otherwise.
I love how Tristan and Duke seem genuinely surprised that Joey actually managed to woo a woman.
{x}
I wonder how much hate I’d get if I said that despite, all of the sns content I post or repost, I don’t actually ship them.
I noticed the change in Naruto’s behaviour towards Sasuke during Shippuden and rather than more earnestly be upset about it, I coped and made jokes on here about how Naruto’s feelings towards Sasuke derailed the character the potential Shippuden had.
MY BIGGEST ROMAN EMPIRE/QI DYNASTY THOUGH has to be Naruto x Sakura or NaruSaku. ALSO JUST SAKURA’s marriage.
I’ve never made a single post about it but I genuinely really warmed up to the ship early Shippuden because I thought Sakura developed a crush on Naruto and they had a better dynamic there.
I also really grown to adore Sakura so I love her as a character. I CANNOT stand how much Sasuke disrespects her in Shippuden thou. Holy shit I was so mad when he fake-killed her at the end of the war arc OMG. She’s already disrespected by the authour and fans, I just want her to have good things happen to her fully, not some half assed manner like her ending. I understand that the authour genuinely believes that his writing of female characters is acceptable, which is why he continues to write them that way and call it a happy ending but still.
She’s done so dirty everywhere, I just want her to have one genuine win with no strings attached.
I know she married the love of her life but she didn’t get what she wanted. She’s still seen by most people and in-universe characters as a lonely wife and “single” mother raising her child all by herself while her husband doesn’t contact her. She’s in a marriage where I don’t think she expected Sasuke to have some dumb ass plot barrier stopping him from coming back to the leaf when they initially got together. Of course, she loves him enough to deal with his absence but canon wise, she’s not happy about it but has to keep a brave face when questioned about it by Sasuke. Cuz that’s her character, she’s not going to complain about it, it’s out of his control (ugh). There are times where she’s clearly settled with her circumstances but LIKE AS A GENUINE FAN OF HER CHARACTER, I dont want that for her. It’s not a happy ending if she’s still lonely and never gets to see her man. For Christ sake, it was clear in the anime that she’s not even used to his touch because she hadn’t felt his touch in a decade by then. It’s so sad and I wanted better but the authour refuses because he believes it’s in character and makes sense for their relationship to still have barriers.
Like she will always accommodate for him but he just “can’t put in the same effort” and she might as well just deal with it with a smile on her face.
Like she’s so successful but she chose to marry a bum. Sure it might be true love but double standards much?
I understand that Sasuke is written a little bit like Jiraiya where he’s never at one place for too long and Sakura likes more serious personalities in her men (and I guess men who go against the grain?) but she prefers that kind of guy but also someone who is there for her. They’re just not compatible and it’s like upsetting to watch. Sakura can only enjoy half of her marriage because she only got half of what she wanted.
How does this connect back to Naruto x Sakura thou? Again I thought the feelings were mutual during Shippuden and was sad when they weren’t but for Naruto, he seems to at least like his wife.
Please be mindful that if her marriage isn’t written the way it is, I would not be complaining like this.
can you imagine cadet cloud seeing seph being all "such a puppy" to zack and then furiosly writing his own self insert fanfiction where sephiroth says that but romantically
Sephiroth and Zack are having a legit tender moment sharing something that was once used as a term of affection by Angeal and meanwhile Cloud is right there aggressively spamming paragraphs of fic in his head.
I can't wait to see more tbh. It's really, really fun to see them acting so weird and chummy around each other. Glad to see that Seph and Zack were at least pretty warmly bonded to each other before...you know.
It’s weird. I’ll watch Banana fish, Sk8, JJK, Buddy Daddies and even Link Click and come to the conclusions that the main mlm ships (Ash x Eiji, Langa x Reki, Geto x Gojo, Kazuki x Rei, & Lu Guang x Cheng Xiaoshi) are all just good friends and have no romantic chemistry.
It’s honestly really jarring to not really engage in previously named fandoms until much later after completing the show and being surprised by people’s interpretations of character interactions.
For example, until Reki and Langa talk about something else besides skateboarding, I don’t see any romantic chemistry. Same with Kazuki and Rei with something else other than Miri and their jobs, Lu Guang and Cheng Xiaoshi with their time traveling, and I think Geto and Gojo just needed more moments together. Ash and Eiji are an unique case, I read the manga first and I didn’t get queer vibes from the story. They also just seemed like good friends to me :/
However, I’ll believe Yuji and Megumi from JJK are totally into each other. I feel like it’s because they had more interactions within the story that suggested a stronger bond than Geto and Gojo. I don’t really get me either.
Dude I can’t imagine being Tifa in AC.
I know it’s not confirmed that her and Cloud are in a serious romantic relationship, but if they are - she’s deserves better.
She knows that Cloud never got over Aerith and in his worst moments, he ghosts her for months so he can die alone and squat at the property of “the one who got away”.
Tifa knows that Cloud high key hopes for death/returning to the planet so he can be with Aerith.
I just cannot imagine being in a relationship with someone who still reminisces about the one who got away. There is no security in the relationship.
Even at the end of Advent Children, Cloud still plasters his wall and desk with printed photos of flower fields and grass. Not because he picked up a liking to photography, but because he still only connected flowers and landscapes to Aerith alone. This is even after everything. He can’t just see it for what it is because if he did, he would be on the right track to healing.
For those who experienced a breakup, maybe you don’t get over a person fully but you know you are on the right track when you don’t entirely connect one thing like an object to your ex and obsess over it. Again, you just see it for what it is. It’s a flower. They existed long before Aerith. Cloud only appreciates flowers now that Aerith died.
Going back to Tifa, I think she knows she’s second-best in Cloud’s mind. He put so much energy into a memory. Sometimes I feel like he’s written in a way that he’s never going to move on. If you’re in a relationship, you don’t talk about exs and unrequited loves with your partner. Not only that but have your partner be very aware about it too.
The moment Cloud ever tells Tifa that Aerith spiritually talks to him sometimes, it’s over lol. Imagine your current partner admits he’s still in contact with his ex.
and it sucks because Tifa and Aerith were really good friends. It’s honestly just Cloud. He loves both of them but I personally would not accept that because no one else does what he does so openly.
