i had a lil vision ...
I watched the “Saving Bikini Bottom: Sandy Cheeks” movie recently, and there’s this one part out of many that solidified the feeling that this movie was definitely a low point in the list of SpongeBob movies.
Nearby the end of the movie Sandy’s family gets called using a whistle and they easily enter in the lab that the main cast are trapped, which is weird because I thought it was established that it’s a pretty hard place to enter but idk, I wasn’t taking notes.
Anyways, the family tries to save bikini bottom all by themselves but it seems like they can’t, until they quickly come up with a plan that involves more people and then Pa Cheeks takes a steel beam and bends it as everybody watches and SpongeBob says “[sigh] he’s so masculine.” and then Pa responds “Yep, even my muscles got muscles!”. That part stood out to me for a while and I didn’t know why, until I realized that:
1. Why would they spell that out for everyone when it was already established earlier in the movie that Pa is the strongman of the circus family?
2. I’m not sure if this is a real thing, but I think some characters have a original voice to them and I think SpongeBob would never say that casually, he’d use the word ‘macho’ in that scenario. I guess the word masculine is just too precise and long for it to be in SpongeBob’s casual vocabulary?
They probably did that part just to fill the air, but they could have had it where Sandy gives out instructions to everyone, and then we see them all doing what’s needed through a quick montage to each person so then it feels like it’s a bit more build up to the escape and it’d feel much more busy instead.
BTW be aware that I might be wrong because this is based off of a fuzzy memory of the movie. Anyways, thanks for reading my first small movie criticism!!
Thinking about painting this all the way down the side of some jeans I have… 🤔
Apparently I have to make this as a separate post to get it into the feed, reblogging only notifies the associated post or something. I'm learnding.
Max hasn't changed much from 2D to 3D but Sam gained entire dimensions to his face that were difficult to translate strictly from Steve Purcell's drawings.
I want to talk a bit about visual schedules, and why they help me.
I really struggle with memory, for multiple reasons.
I also really like to be able to know EXACTLY what's going to happen.
Both of these things make visuals very useful for me. As well as the fact that I tend to process information better when a visual is involved rather than just text. Sure, I could have a schedule or shower instructions written fully in text, but I won't be able to understand and follow it as easily that way.
The visual I use the most is my shower visual schedule. It tells me what to do when I shower, which is very useful for me because before I got it I would forget many many steps, and most of the time in the shower would be spent by me just fully disassociating or trying to remember what to do. The visual keeps me a bit more "on track".
I don't see many teenagers or adults using visual schedules, just young children. So if you are a teenager or adult who uses them I want to tell you how cool that is /pos
I’m finally done painting these jeans, pretty easy, calming process
Foster’s home was actually created by real humans like Craig McCracken and Lauren Faust. The team at Cartoon Network back then is excellent at creating stuff just like that show where everything is original and not copied like how ai did make a copy Bloo off a website. I feel like real animators like talented humans may help with working on great shows like gravity falls and even foster’s. I can’t believe how AI is ruining animation like what? Like said on an essay I did, Ai isn’t creative at all. Its all copies, copies, COPIES And unimaginative creations. So more human animators should be hired other than AI since AI isn’t creative at all. No more greed and hire more real human animators!

I found out recently that a lot of musicians (or at least musicians I listen to) don’t have any symbols which is weird to me because I don’t think your face or text should be the symbol for everything you make, right? I think merch where it’s only text is fine but it can feel too plain, and when it has the face of the artist I imagine it’d be awkward for me to wear because it gives obsessed “I know this artist’s entire life” vibes when in reality, I just like the music and I usually just like the artist a normal amount.
btw when I say “symbol” I mean stuff like the Gorillaz skull, the Apex Twins A, even the Blur Circle counts for me, just small designs that could be readable even from far away
