Houses as types of friends

Gryffindor: the adventurous friend. Shouting I love you across the classroom. "Are we there yet?". Midnight snacks. Wanting to pull all nighters but being the first to fall asleep. Last minute plans. Being ready for anything. Wanting to be with your friends 24/7.

Slytherin: the friend who loves you so much but shows it differently. Enjoys pulling pranks. Actually pulls an all nighter. Always steals the blanket and blames it on someone else. The friend who either takes 0.2 seconds or 3 hours to reply. "I send you memes because i love you". Will laugh if you fall over then immediately check you're okay. Always wants to make you laugh.

Hufflepuff: the friend who will wait for you to tie your shoelace. Always brings food to sleepovers. "Can we watch a film?". Your favourite feeling is waking up to see your friends around you. Picks up your call no matter what. The friend who hugs you when you're sad and tells you they love you. Will always hang out with you. Wants to feel wanted.

Ravenclaw: the sarcastic yet funny friend. Bursting out random thoughts. "Its 12am already?". The friend who wishes moments never end. Randomly texting friends to listen to the rain or look at the stars. Random i love yous. Passes you notes in class. Always wants to learn new things about you.

Fuck this. I’m gonna just frequent a cafe and sit by the window with a classic, whose title wouldn’t appear on the cover page, and sip my coffee looking outside until I bewitch someone body and soul by my mysterious aura.

The Ravenclaw Common Room

The Ravenclaw Common Room

(As imagined by me)

Key Points:

*

*Controlled Mess

- Messy areas are better for creativity

- Clean areas are better for studying

- Solution?

Self cleaning clutter, most of the objects in the room, books vases, etc. have the ability to move around. They tiddy themselves up around kids who are cramming for an exam, and hang around students working on their sketchbooks.

*

*Take a Book Leave a Book Library:

- the shelves in the common room have everything from Mockingjay to Kingsley Shacklebolt’s autobiography.

-kids will leave behind their old textbooks for kids who can’t afford them

- there are also some full sketchbooks and aesthetic bullet journals just because kids wanted to share their work with everyone without looking like show offs

- and there are the more sketchy shelves full of folders of student’s essays and notes to be “referenced and repurposed”

- because Ravenclaws get that sometimes you will literally scream if you have to read one more word of that pretentious textbook

- or you hate arthrithmancy and don’t know why you took it and so you’re just going to borrow Jenny’s essay from six years ago and see what happens.

*

*Group Study Areas:

- larger desks and benches, both for a comfortable amount of space for studing alone, and to encorage collaboration.

- two heads are better than one

- but sometimes you just need a lot of space for your eight textbooks and seventeen reference photos and that’s fine too.

*

*Closed Off Beds:

- stained glass canopies that cast beautiful colored light, but that you can’t see into

- folding dividers instead of curtains that are enchanted to be sound proof when latched so that you can sing or scream your heart out

- some much needed privacy in the dorms

- sound proof walls are better than curtains (suck on that Gryffindor)

*

*Most Importantly:

INNOVATION!

-students want a ceiling like in the great hall? They figure the heck out of that enchantment.

- don’t like it anymore the next year? They undo that shit.

Bulletin boards filled with group study sessions

- a magical explosion from someone trying to make up a new spell happens about once a week

- all in all the Ravenclaw common room changes more drastically and more often than any other.

*

*

*

(Imma draw the other common rooms and dorms too, so if you’re a Hufflepuff, Slytherin, or Gryffindor with suggestions for what you would want in your dream common room let me know)

types of dark academia

classic academia: beige trench coats, wool sweaters. plaid skirts. think femme fatale, but educated. sobbing in bed late at night over the secret history or dead poets society. tea with milk and sugar. subsequent tea stains.

darkest academia: running through the rain, dimly lit by streetlights. brown tweed jackets, dress shoes. cold fingers and colder gazes. french-pressed black coffee, piping hot. dark, candlelit rooms with ancient wood floors/walls.

light academia: white cable-knit sweaters, sparkly eyes and foggy glasses. going to art museums and falling in love with every portrait, every sculpture. caressing the petals of a rose, hearing the crinkle of leaves underfoot.

witchy academia: burning candles while reading or doing homework. black turtlenecks, velvet skirts. walking through the forest in autumn. passing a graveyard and feeling a greyish presence. waiting anxiously for samhain.

romantic academia: writing flowery poetry about someone you’ll never speak to (guilty oops). a cozy alizarin sweater, pleated skirts. slow dancing around your room to the beatles. curling up with warm, pallid cups of tea and a book.

scholarly academia: impeccable notes in class. leather bound bags crammed with textbooks and pens. lots of coffee with scones, and even more late nights. a wide vocabulary (that people constantly comment on). lives in the library.

theatre academia: shakespeare, all the time - quoting, reading, praying for a school production of a midsummer nights dream. or the crucible. memorizing lines in the wings. taking on your character’s traits, even outside the theater.

gryffindor: bonfires, dancing alone in your room at midnight, coffee stains, steaming showers, can be a bit socially awkward, licorice, jean jackets, photograph sessions with friends, road trips, sunrises, animal lovers

hufflepuff: determined, leather jackets, earphones, works hard and smart, sarcastic smirks, treats people with kindness, blasting music, respects rules, constantly sends memes to their friends, not afraid to stand up for what’s right

ravenclaw: inspired by nature, scrunchies, bullshits an entire essay and still gets a high grade, really messy, oversized hoodies, artistic, goes to coffee shops for the aesthetics, loves reading fantasy books, street smart, random facts

slytherin: very emotional but doesn’t show it, houseplants, old cottages in the woods, probably an artist, cries during sad movie scenes but won’t admit it, loves hiking in the forests, greek mythology, easily embarrassed, sharp minded

types of people: cities x study szn

london: brown leather book bags, windy walks to the library, writing with fountain pens, notes that are infused with the scent of cinnamon, history, architecture, afternoon sunlight streaming through the windows

tokyo: dot-paper notebooks, colour-coding notes with gel pens, studying + eating candy, setting up a diffuser for study times, beanbag chairs, minty lip balm, biology, fashion design, notes with lots of diagrams

paris: studying to the sounds of birds singing, taking well-deserved breaks by walking in the park, hair tied back with a pink ribbon, putting on a pair of round glasses, art, french literature, small neat writing

new york: writing notes in a high-rise apartment that smells of vanilla, almost illegible cursive handwriting, using little potted plants as paperweights, film analysis, mathematics, scribbles in the margins of textbooks

rome: revising classwork by fountains with gorgeous sculptures, reading small yellow-paged books, riding a hand-me-down bicycle to classes, ancient languages, physics, smelling of wild violets as you rush into the lecture hall

sydney: humming to yourself as you take notes, studying by a big window with a breathtaking view, or beside a fish tank where you can hear the water bubbling, cream soda, mechanical pencils, pleated skirts

theme requested by @positivespacepuppy & study playlists made by @playlistcenter !! click on the city that matches your study vibe to get an instrumental playlist :D
