Media Day at the Emilia Romagna GP | 15 May 2025
Idk why but this reminds me of that video from Vegas (I think?) where he says that one of the things he likes about Charles is that he “just doesn’t care”. Idk if there’s a connection there but I’m connecting the dots anyway
I don’t think people understand just how impressive carlos’ performances have been lately. for the first time in four years, he’s working with a different engine, one he said he’ll take at least half a season just to adjust to. despite that, he put in the fastest lap in pre-season testing, in p2 in fp1 and a p11 on mediums in fp2. mind you, he’s had about a 100 laps of practise in the car. sure, at end of the day these things might not amount to anything in actual races, where it matters, but to produce a decent lap in a position like his would be a feat in itself, let alone laps like that. he’s said multiple times to not expect big things season, that the goal is to get better than where the team was last season, and I think the team is already well on their way there, in no small part thanks to carlos.
Jeddah GP '25 // Carlos on the Post Race Show
"Today, probably, the first race where I maximized what the Williams can do. It's only my 5th race with the team... I think we did a good teamwork, we did everything we could, even though we didn't have the easiest of times in the pit lane with the slow pit stop. The mechanics have been amazing this year, today got a bit stressful for a minute, but then...we managed to bring home the P8." "I just need to keep doing what I'm doing, taking it step-by-step, race-by-race... Following my way of doing things and my philosophy of learning a car, it's just working and going in the right direction. We'll still face setbacks and difficult moments along the way, learning the car and in this adaptation process, but as long as I keep it cool and keep doing my own thing, I think I can get to a very high level in Formula One, like I've shown before."
When I say no other duo( atleast in the current grid) could have pulled Singapore 2023 and actually succeeded, I'm not being dismissive at all. It is just true. Mind you, they were driving for different teams too. Bet you, even if it had been their teammates, the one behind would just try to overtake 'cause they thought they were faster and got DRS( not really catching that it was 'on purpose' ) from the front runner and in turn make both of them vulnerable from the much faster paced Mercedes behind them, potentially losing a p1 and a 1-2.
Spare me for being so entranced, or don't, but "it's on purpose" is so beautiful, not only because Carlos had it in him to call it, but also because Lando actually perceived what Carlos was trying to achieve. Carlos might have done it to benefit himself but he also only did it 'cause he knew Lando would be able to catch on because they have pulled those before, and of course it would help Lando in return too.
I LIKE.
so happy that carlos is getting to do all these cool things and have all these partnerships and ambassadorships rather than before when he was with that horse team
“He’s fastest! Carlos Sainz!”
