Hold Ryan Walters responsible for his role in Nex Benedict's death

In Oklahoma, a non-binary high schooler was severely beaten and died from their injuries. Their name was Nex Benedict. It was a failure from multiple points: the bullies, their parents, the school not seeking treatment for the student, and the state school superintendent for encouraging hate toward LGBTQIA+ individuals.

As a parent in the state, and a parent to multiple kids that identify as lgbtqia+, the very real fear that these things will happen to my own family (and extended to orher kids i care for) because this use of hateful rhetoric is, in a large part, the most useless thing only designed to gain favor from undereducated individuals in a desperate bid for tiny amounts of power.

There is no freedom while hating people that don't prescribe to your own religious or other systems of belief. Seeing this entire country slide backward, i'd say by now we are looking at a loss of 40 or more years of progress, depending on which rights you examine. Why is this being allowed to happen?

I am ready for the majority in America, who doesn't want to impose limits on other people's freedom, to change the trajectory of this country. In the meantime, I will do what i can to make that change, butI will continue to look at houses in other countries, because what can i do in the end but protect my own people?

I have this headcanon that I really plan to turn into a fic but I felt like sharing it until then. So one day a woman Will had slept with two years ago knocks at his door and she basically puts a baby into his arms and tells him that from now on it's his responsibility and then she is gone. Will of course has no idea he had a daughter and he is freaking out so the smartest thing is to call Hannibal.

Fast forward, Will is a great dad and he loves being a dad and Hannibal is very helpful and he is also a great "dad" and he is usually the one to babysit her so he plays a huge part in this child's life. Will bonds with her over catching bugs and fishing and Hannibal teaches her to play the piano.

And Will (he didn't have any beef with Alana in this hc) wants to involve Alana as well cause she is his friend that he crushes on (not as much as he crushes on Hannibal tho but he is just stupidly oblivious). But for some reason his daughter doesn't love spending time with Alana as much as she loves spending time with Hannibal.

By the time she is six she is calling both of them "dad". Did Will object to her calling Hannibal that? No. Did Hannibal? Absolutely not.

Alana is a lot into Will cause he seems more stable since he got this child in his life so she is thinking that he could handle a relationship. Will is confused cause he is not sure if he is still into her as much as he once was but he is not rejecting her attempts either. He is trying to hide it from his daughter since it's not something official but you know how kids are. They know what's going on. Especially this child who is particularly smart.

"I hate Alana." Is what she says to Hannibal one afternoon when he is babysitting her.

"And why is that?"

"Cause she is stealing dad from you!"

Hannibal was unaware of this situationship as well so he is kinda "maybe the kid got it all wrong but at the same time kids are so honest" so he says

"No one is stealing your dad from me. I promise."
