He’d been looking forward to this get together, a chance to get out for the day and relax. It was fire season, so he was constantly on call in case of forest fires and this was just a chance to see someone other than his crew. As if on cue his phone chimed, the nail in the coffin. Sorry can’t make it. Raincheck. Cursing softly, he motions to someone hear by holding up a coffee cup.

“Hey want a free cup of coffee? I haven’t touched it, I just preemptively got it for a coffee date who bailed on me”

Laurel feigned a gasp in flattery, holding a hand over her heart. “You’re asking moi? Don’t mind if I do. Can’t have enough coffee,” she said gesturing the latte in her own hands before taking a seat across from Zeke. “Damn--what’d you do to be stood up this time, Z? Gave them a preview of the goods before they paid for the show?” Laurel teased, clicking her tongue against the roof of her mouth before taking a sip of the free beverage, neglecting the one she had already purchased. Free things had a better taste on her tongue.

“are you saying it’s scary cause the titanic because it’s true and can happen now?” maybe not so much the sinking, but what did kirby know. cruise ships were not something they’d go on. “i guess it’s scary. i wouldn’t dare go on a cruise. so sure. i stand by that decision too.” they said with a nod. “what other movies did you watch with your family?”

“there are just some scenes in that movie that are so gruesome and there are scenes that you had to just fill in the blanks. sometimes... it’s about what you don’t show.” laurel nodded in agreement with kirby. “cruises are vastly overrated. i’ve been on a couple--my time could have been better delegated.” she picked up the bong off her coffee table before leaning back into her apartment loveseat. “we watched coming to america a lot. at some point we watched the first four harry potter movies. nothing too... memorable.” she sighed then lit the bowl. “what movies did you watch as a kid?”

Hearing the woman’s brash question made Cammy softly snort before responding with another question, “Does that actually work on people? Using horror movies to try and jump someone else’s bones?” She started to lift her drink straw back to her lips but prior to taking another sip, said, “The last horror movie I watched was Scream 4 and honestly, it wasn’t horrifying at all. Just stupid. But that could also have been my bias against Emma Roberts and he terrible acting skills.”

“It worked on me,” she admitted. Then again she was a teenager and young love was exciting and impulsive. But wasn’t all love supposed to be like that. “Maybe you can come over to my place and we can watch some of my recommendations. And before you say anything--yes, this is my way of asking out a very beautiful supermodel.”
