Desmond with my hc design for his wife and daughter:
So sorry to the Layton fandom, but Orpheus and Eurydice have my heart.
Propaganda under the cut!
Orphydice:
"y'all probably know the story of orpheus and eurydice. but they are SO tragedy. they are TEXTBOOK tragedy. they redefined the genre. on their literal wedding day as she's walking down the aisle eurydice gets bit by a snake and dies. orpheus loves her so much he goes down to the underworld to try and save her. hades allows him to take her back to the land of the living, as long as she walks behind him, and he cannot look back, otherwise her soul will be taken. he's mostly fine , but begins to doubt and at the very end of the tunnel, he looks back. they lock eyes for a moment before she disappears back into hell. orpheus is then so distraught that he wanders the earth singing mournful melodies and gets stoned to death by some nymphs who think his sad songs are bumming them out. DUUUUDE their story consumed my every waking thought as a child."
Janice and Melina:
No propaganda submitted :(
This plus @justkillingthyme 's tags, because I played games 2, 3, 5, and 6 before playing 1 and 4, and lemme tell you, I could NOT figure out the beef (but I still had a GREAT time).
Perks of having played Miracle Mask as your first ever Layton Game:
You get introduced to Layton knowing how to fence as a natural part of his character, and not as something that might seem out of nowhere in a very epic scene
You're nostalgic for the very epic Carnival World
Very epic minigame flashback section in your first Layton Game
Very epic section where you can figure out what happened at the scene of the crime and feel really smart in your first Layton Game
Sth, sth, advantages the 3DS has gameplay wise I guess, since I like the way you play on the 3DS a little better
Disadvantages of having played Miracle Mask as your first ever Layton Game:
What is a Descole and why do they know each other???

Peter post NWH uses fake names for like… everyone he meets. and everyone knows they’re fake. He’s not smooth about it. he has to be reminded of his own “name” a few times each time he keeps a friend around.
So it’s natural, when Peter (as peter, not as spider-man!) bumps into Deadpool, and deadpool asks him his name… he blurts out any name. “Sam…son” Peter says. and it obviously isn’t his. he visibly looks confused, and changes the name slightly two minutes into the interaction. (deadpool asks his name again. “Samuel” Peter responds)
Deadpool makes the OBVIOUS jump to the conclusion that the kid is, somehow, on the run. and Deadpool trusts the kids decisions, after hanging out with him for a minute. He figures, if “Sam” is on the run from the law, Deadpool would make sure the law lost that fight.
He decides to start making sure “Sam” is safe, in his day to day life. He finds out that “sam” is spider-man, and is DELIGHTED to go in patrol together.
And when the spell gets reversed, Tony Stark comes looking for Peter. and Peter looks terrified to see him.
And deadpool decides this is his time to shine, because OBVIOUSLY the law (aka stark) has tracked down “sam”. and “sam” looks scared. and Stark looks determined.
And deadpool isn’t letting his new friend go with Stark without putting up a fight, no matter WHAT bullshit stories Stark comes up with about magic.
Hi I'm back on this again.
Spoilers for both the Forgotten Lands memory quest and object quest.
I am on the relic quest, and I was baffled at the fact that the Forgotten seemed so close to Scar as a child. I mean, you find a drawing you made IN HIS DOMAIN. It means both you AND him were comfortable enough to lounge together and hang out. This was puzzling, both with how Scar treats you now and how Scar tried to overthrow the Forgotten in the memory of the Dreamscape.
But as I think about it, it doesn't surprise me as much. Because Scar, the most selfish, catty (ha), power-hungry jerk of the Pride Lands, was willing to share the crown with you. He says it in the memory that if you just said yes, he would have let you rule by his side, which is a pretty big allowance considering who we are talking about. Shit, I don't think he let his own NEPHEW co-rule with him. This led me to the conclusion that Scar loves the Player, so much so as to keep them close in his conquest of power and let you draw in his cave.
This got me thinking about Mother Gothel's Dreamscape memory too. Notice how she wasn't trying to lock the Forgotten in the tree because she wanted something from you, like Rapunzel. No, she seemed to actively want to protect you from what she thinks is naivety. She tells you that the world is cruel and dangerous, and, both then and now, seems convinced you aren't quite capable on your own.
Is what either of them doing right? No. But i think it is their perverse expression of love and care. To keep you close while Scar ruled would risk an overthrow, but he's willing to make that concession. It could be that he wants a powerful ally, but how would that explain his actions when you were younger? Vanity, perhaps, but even the villians in the Village seem to care about the Player. Would the fact that he cares in his own, messed up way be so far-fetched? Maybe Gothel is worried about the Valley's state, but she doesn't say anything about the rotting produce when talking to you. Maybe she does just want to protect you, but the way she tries it bad.
I don't know. I'm not even close to done with the relic quest, but the way Mickey's segment of it played out, I was puzzled with how close the Forgotten seemed with the villians at a young age vs the memories when they were older. Maybe the quest will turn out different, but it's just a thought.
Sometimes fanfiction culture is just checking the author's Ao3 page to make sure they're alive.
Guys please what's a pampám. All the definition I'm getting is that it's an insult.
Oh yeah, I'm sure it's great. Yeah, I'm super interested. Unfortunately, I have a sneaking suspicion that it will absolutely devastate me, so.... I can't. Thanks though!
