Palestine - The Land Of Sad Oranges

This poem, If We Must Die by Claude McKay was written during the Red Summer, 1919. It has since been adopted to represent many groups facing persecution. I pair it here with a field of poppies and a faint keffiyeh pattern, emblematic of the Palestinian struggle. I may make a more elaborate version in the future, I have some ideas. For now, this is available on stickers, shirts, prints, etc.

As usual, ALL PROCEEDS from this are for my Palestinian best friend, to help his girlfriend afford to join him safely in America and to help his friends and family in Palestine and around the rest of the Levant who are being hurt directly and/or financially by the attacks on Gaza, the increasing Israeli raids in the West Bank and the collateral damage in surrounding countries. I bought one of the new holographic stickers from my fundraiser to test, here's how it turned out. As always EVERYTHING I EARN from my shop is for my best friend, a Palestinian grad student living in America. The money is sent home to support his friends and family in Palestine and around the rest of the Levant who are being hurt directly and/or financially by the attacks on Gaza, the raids and economic devastation in the West Bank and the collateral damage in surrounding countries.

The entire University of California (10 schools!) just called for an official UAW backed strike due to the Palestine protests! So proud of the tens of thousands of grad students putting their labor on the line for the cause.

In light of this I wanted to share the most relevant design from my fundraiser again, the sabo-tabby (aka black cat, wildcat, sab cat) with a keffiyeh. This is an old IWW symbol still commonly used for strikes and labor organizing today. I met the friend I am fundraising for through his labor activism (I started asking him too many questions and he recruited me to help haha). He is an incredibly clever and effective activist who has been involved in a lot of successful labor movements, and this symbol is very dear to him (as is the keffiyeh of course).

As usual ALL PROCEEDS from my shop are for this friend who is Palestinian. The extra income will help him support his friends and family in Palestine and around the rest of the Levant who are being hurt directly and/or financially by the attacks on Gaza, the raids and economic devastation in the West Bank and the collateral damage in surrounding countries. He will donate anything his family doesn't need to the Palestinian charities he works with.

I've already made something similar to this, it seems like a good design for a sticker. The keffiyeh was a gift from the friend I am fundraising for. He gave it to me back in October while I was trying to comfort him, I have worked photos of it into a lot of my designs.

I drew a journalist for my fundraiser. I'm not very experienced at drawing people but I'm practicing, I've wanted to add a journalist for a while since they've become such an important symbol for Palestine. Found here, mostly intended for stickers.

New Palestine Designs

I made a few designs this weekend with some open source patterns and a tatreez design I drew in FlossCross. Mostly made with clothing prints in mind, but also available on stickers, notebooks, phone cases, mugs, etc.

My best friend is Palestinian, and a lot of his friends and family in Palestine and around the rest of the Levant are being hurt directly and/or financially by the attacks on Gaza, the increasing Israeli raids in the West Bank and the collateral damage in surrounding countries. ALL PROCEEDS from these designs will go first and foremost to helping his girlfriend afford to join him in America safely, and after that helping his other loved ones weather this war.

Trying something a little different today, here's my first attempt at pixel art. The design can be found here, it was made with stickers in mind but it is available on a lot of products.

I'll probably try to make a few more pixel art things sometime in the next couple weeks and then put some of them together in a sticker pack for people who want small versions (extra tiny stickers seem to me to suite this art style well).
