Mereka menangis sampai sesenggukan jika diperlukan. Mereka tersungkur sampai demam ketika lelah menampar badan. Tapi setelah itu mereka bangun lagi. Mereka hadir lagi.
Maka buat apa menangis terus, batin mereka. Buat apa mengeluh terus, itu tak mengubah apa-apa.

“I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice chianti.” Great line from Silence of the Lambs everyone knows. But most people don’t realise Dr Hannibal Lecter is making a medical joke. Lecter could be treated with drugs called monoamine oxidase inhibitors - MAOIs. As a psychiatrist, Lecter knows this. The three things you can’t eat with MAOIs? Liver, beans, wine. Lecter is a) cracking a joke for his own amusement, and b) saying he’s not taking his meds.

Eid Mubarak to all of you who are celebrating. I know it's hard to get in the spirit this year as so many Palestinians spend their Eid starving and in tents but I hope your Eid is full of peace and love. May we see a free Palestine by next Eid.
