Pairing: Din Djarin x F!Reader Rating: M Summary: When Din finds himself back on Tatooine, he strikes a deal with you. As he works through his grief and his anxieties, he never expects that he’d fall in love — or that you’d feel the same way. Word count: 8,305 Notes: The title refers to a few things in this story. I kind of glossed over what happens once Jabba’s palace becomes Boba’s palace because I think The Book of Boba Fett will cover that a lot better than anything I could come up with. This also ended up being a lot more than I set out for it to be. Originally it was going to be just shy Din with a crush on the reader, but it turned into an exploration of what might happen after The Rescue. There’s grief and uncertainty and soft, sweet Din Djarin at the centre of it. Reblogs appreciated! Warnings: Grief/mourning, implied death, canon-typical violence, mutual pining, older man/younger woman (not a massive age difference, but still there), non-explicit sexual content.

This hasn't been the first time Din has returned with more wounds than you could count. With each lucky bounty that took less than one day stacked up the slow amount of karma waiting for Din the next time. And here you were, hovering over the Mandalorian as he bled out.
"Hey! Just keep your eyes open. Squeeze my hand."
You shout, one hand busily tearing the beskar from his torso as the other was faintly gripped in his bloody leather hand.
"C-Cyare."
You press a small kiss against the helmet, pulling out antiseptic wipes to clean the heavy gashes. You grimaced at his moan of pain, his grip becoming unbearable as you cleaned sand and other bits from the nasty wounds.
"Don't speak. Just... stay with me Din." He began to wrestle against you.
"Kriffing stop moving!" Din stills, his grasp a butterfly's touch on your hand as you pull it back. You needed both hands to administer the bacta shots. Another grunt followed the injection of the syringe, and you sighed in relief as you slowly watched the major wounds close together. Disposing of several wipes and bloodied rags, you turn back to face Din, who's out cold on the floor.
"What would you do without me." You muttered before completely striping him of his armour and weapons. It was a terrible idea to drag him up the ramp of the Razor Crest when he had stumbled outside, and you doubted you could do it again.
With what little strength you had, you pressed him against a makeshift bed. Soft blankets and pillows surrounded him as you tucked him in. He would need all his energy back once he woke up, no doubt wanting to jump straight back to Nevarro to collect the credits.
You sat by his side, smiling softly as you grasped his hand. At least he had come back to you in one piece. He was lucky that he had made it to the Crest, or you would've had no idea where he was.
A soft mumble escaped the modulator as Din slowly sat up, his body swaying from the sudden motion.
"Hey. Take it easy." You mutter, letting him lean his weight against your smaller form.
"How you feelin?" You ask, eyes shining with worry as Din blankly stared at you, his helmet tilting further to the side the longer he stared.
"You look fam-familiar." He slurred, wrapping his arm around your waist.
"Mhm. I am your only other crewmate. Been together for around a year." There was a moment of silence before his usually stoic and sarcastic voice had shifted to something akin to a love sick puppy.
"You look so pr-pretty mesh'la." You lay him back down with ease, squeezing his hand that was clutched to your side as you laid it down beside him.
"Is that the bacta talkin to me Din?" You tease, watching as he struggles to take off his helmet. With gentle hands, you release the Mandalorian from his beskar prison. His eyes were hazy as he stared off into the distance before looking back at you.
"You should get some rest. Sleep here. I'll be right beside you." He shoves you away with what little strength he had left in his muscles, but even wounded and delirious, he was still strong enough to push you back.
"S-Stop. I have a riduuuur." He drew out the foreign word, and you peck another kiss to his cheek. His face scrunched up as he pouted, his eyes glistening.
"I won't cheat on my riduur. Even if you look as pretty as them." A wide grin splashes over your face as you brush his messy hair out of his face.
"You think I'm pretty?" Din groans, trying to roll onto his side so he didn't have to look at you. But after the fourth attempt he huffed before flopping down on the soft blankets.
"The-The prettiest." Din nodded, his eyes roaming the features of your face as it came in and out of focus.
"Come on Din, go back to sleep." It took a few moments for the words to register in his brain before he was moaning in protest.
"Got to see my cyar'ika." His protests were firm as you sighed.
"Fine. I'll get them. Wait here." He diligently nodded his head as you disappeared from view. You chuckle to yourself. Din had always been so shy to flirt with you, but here he was, diligently keeping his promise to be with you forever. You exit the weapon lockers and smile happily as Din's face morphs into a goofy smile.
"Verd'ika!" He exclaimed, seeming to gain his strength in the short period of time you had pretended to get yourself. You coo at him as he embraces you in a clumsy hug.
"I've missed you. You so... so good to me." Din began to slowly tear up, and you gently rubbed his back as he began to sob into your shoulder. Despite being vulnerable and high as an X-Wing in the clouds, he still had a possessive grip.
"Mi-Missed you. Haven't seen you in y-years!" His words were choked and lazily pronounced.
"Love you too Din. Glad you came back to me." Din's cries began to recede as he pressed harsh kisses against the side of your neck.
"Din!" You scold, pushing him back. He gives you the sweetest puppy eyes, chocolate brown swirling at you.
"Cyare..." You roll your eyes, helping the warrior to his feet.
"You can get all the lovin' once you get cleaned up and back to our bunk." His weight wasn't as harsh in the beginning, and you were able to help him stumble his way over towards the refresher attached to the shared bunk.
Deeply inhaling the soap bar, Din gives you the softest smile.
"Aloan roses." He identifies, and you give him a small pat on the back in praise. "Come on you tin head. Let's get you cleaned up." He didn't hesitate to strip down, bare as the day he was born. Din gave you a cocky smile,
"Like what you see?" "Yeah I do. But first get clean. So I can admire you better than under all those layers of sand."
It was a hassel getting him cleaned up. He was distracting and happily pressing your body into the stream of warm water, effectively soaking you to the bone. But you couldn't be too mad. His delighted expression was too sweet for you to be mad.
Finally getting the two of you in dry clothing, you snuggled up besides Din as he pressed against you.
"Love you mesh'la." You giggle, gently brushing your finger against the curve of his jaw.
"Love you too Din."
There was another moment of silence before... "You wanna hear a joke." You wack him on his side. He had done this before. When the two of you were crunched on time to rest before bounding straight into another fight. And it had both annoyed you and sent you into a fit of chuckles when he tried to break the ice. It was endearing how he had tried to cheer you up that night. You were really grumpy, and in your defense Din drank the rest of the caf that morning.
"Go to sleep Din." There was a huff of protest before he pressed his face against the smooth skin of your neck and inhaled.
Din smiled to himself as he fell asleep. You smelled like home. His home.

They say you’ll never forget your first. First crush, kiss, date, love and heartbreak. However for you, you could never seem to get rid of him. But you weren’t complaining. Francisco Morales was more than your first for everything, he was someone who held more than one could handle- he was your rock. Well that was until the day that “you” ruined everything.
Your parents were known as the sweethearts of your hometown. Marrying right after graduation, they settled in the same town and brought up you and your sister Em. Your parents were involved in everything, your mom being a teacher and your dad being a sheriff. It was hard to blend in to say the least. But there was an ongoing loop. Everyone graduated and stayed home. Your older sister, Em, even became a part of that treacherous loop. And you hated that loop. You always dreamed of big cities, fashion, traveling the world, but mostly just getting out of town. And you had promised yourself that nothing would hold you back from pursuing that. Sadly Frankie thought he could have kept you a little bit longer. But things change- actually a lot has changed since you’ve been back home for more than a weekend stay. Now you were traveling back home for your parent’s 50th anniversary extravaganza. And nothing could help prepare you for the next few days.
Your plane had landed around one in the afternoon. Grabbing your luggage you made your way over to the area where Em said she would pick you up. Looking around you didn;t see her red car. Dialing her number you were ready to direct her to your terminal.
“Hello?” Em said on the other line. She sounded groggy and as if she wasn't in the car.
“Terminal 47 remember.” You said angrily, Knowing she forgot.
“Shit.” She said, then another voice was heard.
“Babe what time is it?” You gasped at the sound of Pope's voice.
“Hold on, you first forgot your little sister's arrival at the airport, and you have Pope in your bed Em! When did he come back? What happened to independency?” You said rather loudly into the mic.
“Shut up. You're too damn loud.”
“It’s literally tourist season, getting a cab into town will cost me tripple Em.”
“Well don’t call the Millers, they went fishing this morning. You could call-” She said even more groggily. But you hung up the phone before she could finish her sentence.
You couldn’t take your sister right now. You love her most times but she would've killed you if you did this to her. You were gonna call the Millers but if they were busy there was only one person you could call. Hearing the phone ring you were ready to hang up. But then he answered.
“Hey, what's up.”
“Quick question: when did my sister get back with Pope?” You said rather too fast.
A small laugh left him, “That’s a long story.”
“Well I have another question for you.” You said getting nervous.
“Shoot.”
“Well Em, forgot that I was flying in today to surprise my parents and well I’m kind of stranded at the airport. Is there any way you can send someone-” Suddenly you were cut off.
“What terminal are you at?”
“Terminal 47.” You said softly while releasing the breath you were holding.
“It’ll be 20 minutes.” He said.
“Thank you Frankie.” You heard a small yeah and hung up the phone. And thinking to yourself. Yay reunion time.
✰✰✰
18 minutes later, that infamous truck he insists on always keeping, though it's as old as you, rolled up to the curb in front of you. He got out of the truck and damn does he look like the same senior in high school you were swooning over. I mean he’s aged, but not badly. He’s the same Francisco.
“I owe you one.” You said as he got closer.
“No worries, I feel bad about Em and Pope doing you like that.” He said giving you a side hug and grabbing your suitcase. He quickly opened your door, still never letting you touch the door handles in his truck. You slid in and felt a wave of nerves wash over you. The last time you were alone with Frankie was years ago when you guys broke up as he dropped you off at the airport. But you remembered time has passed and everything should be decent now. Well that’s what you hope for. Frankie had finally made it into the truck. He took a breath and looked at you.
“Hey.” He said softly.
“Hi.” You said matching his level,
“So um how long are you staying?” He asked cutting to the chase.
“That's a long story. I’m not sure to be honest.” You said, Frankie nodded and began driving. Fuck the tension just grew higher.
“So um Pope and Em what happened there?” You said wanting to clear the silence.
“Well after Benny’s championship fight, there were lots of beers and then all of a sudden it was like prom all over again with them. Running away for a week and then committing to another relationship. Except this time it seems permanent.” He said constantly looking over to see you in the passenger seat like it was prom night again.
“Dear god, no wonder she didn’t update me on the fight at all. She was with him and didn't want me to find out.” You said chuckling.
Em and Pope were like your parents except they had more problems than a math textbook. They had gotten together in high school and that’s how your friend group formed. You being the younger sister of Em always having to tag along with her fr town events and football games. None of the boys minded but it was the classic my sister's boyfriend's best friend is the one for me. You became Frankie’s date for every outing, and soon you put a label on you both. But when it was your turn to leave for college Frankie and you split. Heartbroken ever since that day. Because you had to stay loyal to him when he left but he couldn’t take the fact that you wanted to leave your small town for good.
“You could get ready at my place and we could go to your parents together. That's only if you're ok with it?” He said.
“Yeah that sounds great. Thank you again Frankie.”
✰✰✰
Frankie’s house was exactly how you imagined it. Pictures and memorabilia everywhere, the smell of fresh wood and sunflowers. He had a small vegetable garden on the side of his house, and he used to always dream of having a house with a pool, so it wasn’t a surprise that you saw a good size one in the backyard.
You walked in more and saw a bunch of pictures on a wall. Glazing over them you saw some with you, and most of them were of him in the army. You walked over to the couches where there were more pictures. In a frame there was a picture of you two on your graduation day. Frankie wore your cap as you kissed his cheek. You smiled at that memory. It was the day after he came back from bootcamp, with him surprising you, both of you worried he wasn't gonna make it.
Frankie had shown you his bathroom. Where you got ready. Leaving the bathroom you walked out to see Frankie waiting for you.
“Wow you look amazing.” He said in a breathy tone.
“Thank you.” You said as you feel your cheeks heat up.
“No seriously, you look great.” He said to reassure you. You walked up and offered your hand.
“Francisco Morales, will you be a gentleman and join me tonight?”
“When have I ever said no to you?” He asked as he took your hand.
“I can think of a few times.” You laughed as you both walked to his truck.
For once in a long time you felt as if Frankie and you were good. Good as in being together again. But only fools dream like that. Right?
✰✰✰
At your parents' anniversary party everyone and anyone was there. Your parents and friends were surprised to say the least and you enjoyed every minute of it. Your group was sitting around the table enjoying drinks and memories, it felt like you never left. Frankie was sitting by your side, and every so often it looked as if he wanted to be closer to you so you took the initiative to slowly move closer. When his arm was behind you, you were finally content, and based on his smile so was he.
“Care to dance?” You asked Frankie.
“Do I have to remind you how horrible we are at dancing?” He said laughing through his response.
“You owe me one dance, remember?” You said smiling knowing Frankie can’t say no now.
Standing up he offered you his arm and you both made your way over to the dance floor.
Moving to the beat, you were both entangled in limbs, but a bright smile displayed on everyone as they watched you and Frankie become those kids who pined for each other for all those years.
“It’s sad.” Em said to the table.
“On what?” Benny asked cluelessly.
“Pendejo. He promised her that he would only dance with her one more time at their wedding. They were supposed to be the next couple to celebrate fifty years together in this town.” Santiago said, looking at his best friend and you.
Frankie and you were laughing and talking but as a slow song came on you both stayed on the dance floor. Unknowing of the conversation that was going on with your group.
“I missed you.” Frankie said.
“There's not even a way to describe the feeling of how much I missed you.” You said, placing your head on his chest. Frankies grip tightened around you, as if he was scared that he was going to lose you. Again.
“I’m sorry.” You said softly.
“No. No apologies. Just be with me. Right here in this moment. Not the past or the future.”
“Frankie?” You asked, to which he hummed to be his response.
“Promise me this won’t be our last dance?” Your voice cracked as you spoke.
“Promise me you won’t be gone as long as you have been.” He spoke softly, as almost he was about to break. You nodded, not being able to form words. A small kiss was placed on your head from him. This was the way you used to seal promises.
It wasn’t until speeches and cake till your night was ruined. Everyone gathered around where your parents were. Your parents holding a microphone and giving thanks.
“Since we were kids this town has done nothing but helped us. We found true love in this zip code and we raised our wonderful kids here. Our oldest is striving to become a wonderful teacher like her mom and our youngest has been working her heart out since she was handed a highschool diploma. We thank all of you for your support and well wishes towards us and our family.” Your dad spoke as everyone clapped to his thoughtfulness.
“Though we are here celebrating our wonderful fifty years together. We are beyond grateful to have both of our children here tonight with us.” Your Mom spoke and pointed towards you and Em. Will and Benny both hollered and squeezed us together. Small laughter erupted.
“I have been blessed with such an amazing neighborhood, life, and soulmate but I am even more blessed that our youngest was offered a position in London while our oldest will be taking my place the next school year. Thank you all again and enjoy.”
Suddenly it felt claustrophobic. Everyone turned to say congratulations to you. You were surrounded and all you needed was an escape. But everyone was hugging and asking you questions.
While your own thoughts were running wild. How did your mom know about London? You didn’t take the job. Where’s Frankie? Oh my god where’s Frankie? The one that stuck out the most was you had to clear this up with your parents and especially Frankie. Em grabbed you and dragged you away.
“London?” She screamed and questioned. You began shaking your head.
“No, no, no!” You yelled back at her. Your mom had come up to you both and intervened.
“Mijas, what's wrong?” She asked.
“Mom, how did you know about London?” You asked, growing impatient.
“You buttdialed me in one of your meetings. ‘M sorry honey if you had a whole idea to tell us and if I ruined it-”
“Mom, I didn’t take the London job. I took the position of being media manager. A job where I could live here. Be here with, ugh fuck!” You screamed the last part feeling all the emotions rush through you. Benny, Will and Santiago walked over towards you. You wanted to burst out crying knowing Frankie had left. Again.
“Where is he?” You ran up to Benny. Benny shook his head and began to speak.
“He um, he left. We don’t know where too though. Maybe the creek?”
You looked towards Pope and he had a sorry gaze towards you. No you're not taking apologies. You need to make this right.
“Give me keys.” You raised your hand outward. Pope placed his keys and you din;t even say thank you. You just ran towards the cars.
You drove past the creek, school, and finally you saw the truck in his driveway. You parked quickly and ran towards the door. Tears already welling up your eyes. When you knocked and there was no answer to the door your heart began to speed up. Pope had to have keys to his place. And luckily you found the fit. Opening the door you searched for him, but he was sitting on the couch ushering a whiskey.
“Frankie please let me explain.” You said as you rounded the corner.
“Explain what?” He said moving towards the kitchen, that's when you saw his tear stained cheek.
“Explain how you're gonna move to London, how you’re gonna be able to do what you always wanted to do. You already left once, why do it twice?”
“Frankie.”
“Do you know how much joy I have when you call or text me. Or when you even fucking show up for your weekend here once a year. Do you know how much I yearn to gain a little more from you?”
“Frankie please.”
“No, please go ahead and break me one more time.” He said.
“Frankie, I didn’t take the job.” You had lost your temper and began to lose your control over your voice.
“What?”
“Do you know how much I yearned for you to call me and tell me to come back home? Do you know how lonely I was? I cried every night for two months, every holiday, birthday. I know I could live without you but fuck Frankie I didn’t want too.” Frankie had now moved back from behind the kitchen counter to be in front of you.
“Frankie, I was scared. I was a kid and I was so in love with you. I made myself board that airplane and I regretted it the instant I buckled my seatbelt. I wanted to see the world, but the only thing I truly wanted was to see the world with you.” At this point tears were both falling freely between the two of you.
“I only came back home to make sure this is what I wanted. To make sure that I would hate London. I came back to see if I could fix my mistakes.”
“Where are you working?” Frankie had now asked.
“I took the media manager position. I can work wherever I want.” You said now quietly. Frankie nodded trying to comprehend everything. Twenty minutes ago he thought he had lost you again, but now here you were in his house, confessing to him that you were too in love with him, that you cried everyday just like he had.
“Frankie please say something.”
“You’re not leaving?” He asked another question which drove you past patience.
“Frankie I will leave right now if you don’t-” Suddenly you were embraced by his lips. Before you could withdraw your mind from its far places, his arms were around you. You felt that rush of helplessness, the sinking yielding, the surging tide of warmth that left you limp. Just like he did all those times before. He kissed you, softly at first, and then with a swift gradation of intensity that made you cling to him. His insistent mouth was parting your shaking lips, sending wild waves along your nerves, evoking from your sensations you had never known you would be capable of feeling again. And before a swimming giddiness spun you round and round, you knew that you were kissing him back.
You pull away slowly. But then you both were kissing again. It shows you that every other kiss you’ve had without Frankie has been wrong. Both of you are kissing like crazy. Like your lives depend on it. Frankie’s tongue slips inside your mouth, gentle but demanding, and it’s nothing like you've ever experienced with him before. Your fingers wrap around his hat and pull it off, and move to grip his hair, pulling him even closer. He pushes you backward and you’re up against the kitchen table. The weight of his body on top of yours is extraordinary. You feel him—all of him—pressed against you. His face has his signature stubble and it rubs your skin but you don’t care, you don’t care at all. He feels wonderful. His hands are everywhere, and it doesn’t matter that his mouth is already on top of yours, you want him closer but he pulls away.
“You promised me forever and always. Is it forever now?” He asked with a certain amount of need in his voice. You nodded quite ferociously and pulled him in to seal the deal.
“Forever and always Francisco. You will have me forever and I will always love you.”
Leaning forward he sealed the deal, and for a long time it won't be the last seal the deal kiss.
Rex x Fem!Reader
Trigger Warning: Breakup
“We were a perfect match. Maybe that’s why we burned out.”
It started subtly. Rex didn’t call or message as much when he was away. Whereas he used to call every chance he got, you were now lucky to receive a short message saying, “sorry can’t talk, I’m ok.”
No, ‘see you soon’ or ‘I love you’ attached, but you brushed it off thinking, maybe it’s just a long mission or he’s just really busy. Then it leaked into his mannerisms when he was home, he would spend more time are the barracks and fewer times with you. When he was with you, it was awkward and tense. Comfortable silences were replaced with tense ones. Little things that used to seem cute to him, now left him frustrated or annoyed. He used to love how you hummed while you cleaned and how your feet shuffled when you woke up. Now, instead of small smiles, you were met with:
“(Y/N), I’m sorry, but I could really use some quiet.” and “Pick up your feet, the entire building can hear you.”
So, you made the adjustments, no realizing how you stopped feeling completely comfortable around him. And then you realized, the same thing was happening to you. You used to think it was adorable how he stole blankets, and how he didn’t help with dishes because he never learned how. Now, it drove you up the wall. This was how you felt on first dates and when you have important house guests, not how you should feel around the person who you were in love with. Sometimes, it seemed like y’all would argue about nothing. Nights of snippy comments because someone left the light on. When you kissed him goodbye, he didn’t kiss back. Honestly, you didn’t know what happened to the two of you, but nevertheless, you waited for it to blow over.
Then, one fateful night, in an effort to not spend another tense night on the couch, not actually watching the news, y’all agreed to go to 79′s with the rest of the 501st. That’s when it made sense.
The two of you walked in, and when you looked up at him, he had that look of awe that he used to reserve only for you. But now, you watched him throw it across the room at an all too familiar togruta. That’s when you understood. He had fallen in love with someone else, and out of love with you. You spent the entire night deep in unhappy thought, but Rex never noticed- only occasionally ordering you more drinks, not noticing the four other still full glasses in front of you. He was too busy laughing at Ahsoka’s jokes. And God bless, you tried to hate her, but she was so nice and amazing, it was impossible to be mad at her. And it was hard to be mad at Rex for falling for her. So now you were sitting in a booth, just sad.
Finally, you had enough and you asked Fives and Echo to let you out of the booth. They both flashed you looks of concern, but you gave them a small smile of reassurance. You were almost out of the door when Rex finally noticed you left.
“She looked upset- you might wanna check up on her.” Echo suggested, watching the Captain crane his neck around to look for you. “She headed towards the door.”
“Yeah, Yeah, I’ll do that.” With that, he squeezed out of the booth and went out to find you. You were already a block away when he caught up with you.
“(Y/N), what’s wrong, you left by yourself?” He asked, but made no move to grab your hand or hug you like he once might have. You sighed and crossed your arms, putting on a brave face.
“Surprised you noticed. That you came.” You shrugged, it wasn’t snappy or accusatory, but just defeated. Rex knew what was coming.
“Of course, I came. (Y/N), what’s this about?” He was already puffing up for a fight, but you had left the ring a few hours ago.
“Rex you’re not in love with me anymore. It’s obvious. And it’s ok, but please tell me so I can find someone who does love me like you did.” It came out as a plea, and Rex realized what you meant. His muscles tensed up defensively.
“That’s not fair, (Y/N).” Was all he said, he eyes weren’t soft like usual. You shook your head and gave him a stare just as hard.
“No. It’s completely fair.” You started, arms unfolding from your chest do gesture wildly, “Rex, if you’re still completely in love with me- like you were in the beginning- then please, help me work this out. But if not, then it’s unfair for both of us.”
Where there were once soft words and promises of forever, there were crossed arms, harsh words, and shattered promises. Rex knew this and only admitted it by letting his gaze drop to the ground.
“I’m sorry.” It was soft and sincere and for the first time in a while, he actually looked sad to see you go. You just nodded, praying the tears would stay in until you were gone.
“Ok then,” You paused and sniffled, Rex knew it wasn’t his place to wrap his arms around you anymore, but he always hated seeing you cry, “Take care of yourself, Rex.”
Rex watched you walk away for the last time, and just like that, it was over.
Two months later:
You spent quite a few weeks crying over him, but eventually, things got easier. Fives and Echo were the only ones who kept in touch with you, and they checked up on you, but you never saw Rex again. Soon, You started going on dates, or more accurately your best friends forced you on dates. Some of them were ok, and some of them were hilariously bad, but no one was quite like Rex. But you kept going on, and eventually, life was close to normal again- even if your apartment was quieter and colder than it once was.
But occasionally, you would run into some of the older members of the 501st. You would flash a friendly smile and wave, but turn around and walk the other way to avoid an awkward conversation. They would wave back, remembering when their captain was so in love with you that he couldn’t think straight. Then, you realized when you lost Rex, you also lost a lot of amazing friends. Soon inside jokes turned into awkward waves and those turned into pretending you didn’t see them.
And even worse, occasionally you’d catch a glimpse of someone who looked strikingly like Rex and your heart would stop. Then you would realize, this trooper had green armor and a similar haircut. But that didn’t stop the memories of love and laughter of the good times when you felt more love from a man worlds away, but it also tore open the wounds of the bad times, when you felt the loneliest when he was lying right beside you.
After the war:
It might have seemed dramatic, but four months after the breakup, you decided to move. You chose one of the more developed planets in the outer rim and found work rather easily. No more Rex, no more memories, a fresh start, and it went well.
But even then, when the war was over and the Empire rose from its ashes, rumors of the Jedi and the clones swirled and demanded to be heard- even in the outer rim. And every now and then, you couldn’t help but wonder what did happen to Rex, because somewhere in your heart you still loved him and always would.

Din didn’t know where he was.
The cold cabin felt familiar, yet unknown at the same time. The place lingered with a chill that slipped up his spine, making the hairs on his neck stand. The wooden log walls that looked crafted from hand stood tall. Upon them lingered pictures that seemed so familiar, but he couldn't quite make out the faces of them. An old red couch, worn out from the loving use of it stood in the center, placed upon a detailed carpet. Children's toys scared the floor in front of it, one’s he’s seen before yet can’t quite remember where.
He knew this place.
“Well, look who's home” his eyes pulled from the view up to the most beautiful one.
In the arch of the doorway stood the most beloved thing that ever walked into his life. You looked as lively as ever, the same smile that brought him to his knees. Maker, weren’t you a gift to this universe. One he doesn’t understand how he’s had the ultimate pleasure of sharing the same space as someone so delicate and kind; you were truly ethereal. You are everything to him. The stars shined brighter with you around, the sun felt warmer with you at his side.
But...everything felt so cold now.
The corner of his mouth twitched, your smile contagious as always he couldn’t help but match it.
He hung his head, feeling all but worthy to be around you. “Mesh’la” he hushes out as quietly as ever, the words shy. His eyes flicker up, hearing you approach him. Even through the darkness of the visor, he saw everything so brightly. The world was nothing but bright because of you.
Stopping just before him, you gave him a knowing look. Eyes twinkling at the sight of the man that was the reason the world turned for you.
“Riduur…” your words are as soft as the heart that beats for you. “May I?” the question makes him let out a relieved sigh.
“Please” he pleaded, leaning into you.
Reaching up, laying the palm of your hands gently on the cheeks of the helmet you raise it. Your husband's face slowly comes into view, the man you’ve loved bare out in front of you. His brows furrowed, the pinch of his forehead making him look as handsome as ever. His eyes bounced around your face, struggling to comprehend how you’re standing in front of him
Placing a hand on the roughly creased cheek of the man before your, grounding him to the planet you're on now. He squeezes his eyes shut, savoring the touch of his spouse that he’s longed for so long. It's been long. Far too long.
A tear escaped his eye, the only way he could fully voice his emotions to you right now. Breathing out his fears and unanswered questions, “My Riduur, I-I don’t-” you shushed him gently, the tip of your thumb tracing the creases on his cheek.
“Don’t cry for me, my love. Everything is alright.” your voice wavers, yet the soft smile graces your lips.
He shakes his head almost painfully, “It’s not-” “It will be. Maybe not today, but one day.” you assure. He lets out the smallest of sobs, his chest shaking in despair
“Please come home. Come home with me. Come home to our son.” he begs, words pleading for you to take his hand and go back with him. He’s pleading the universe, the maker, whoever would listen to his dire words to let you come home.
“Din...I am home” you motion to the cabin. He shakes his head in confusion, “W-What?”
“This is my home. It’s our home, the home you built for us. But...for only when your time comes” you assure as gently as possible.
Din's eyes widen at your words when everything suddenly clicks for him. This was his home. The home he imagined and spoke of for so long, the one he promised. The home he always wanted to have with you. Yet never did.
He takes a step closer to you, going up to grasp your wrists “I want to be here with you-I want to stay, please let me stay Riduur” you couldn’t help the tears that crept up behind your eyes at the sound of your husband's sobbing pleas.
You shake your head, biting your lip in an attempt to muffling your own sobs. “...It’s not time for us yet. You have such a life ahead of you. A life so beautiful, that I can’t wait for you to have. Even if I’m not there at your side, I always am. I’m with you till the end and after.” Your words assuring and laced with the same amount of love you always had for him.
Din squeezes his eyes shut in an attempt to stop the array of tears that lost the war, he didn’t know what else to do. He can’t bring you home. He can’t bring you back. All he can do is worship and savor the time he has in the golden moment.
“C-Can I just hold you Riduur. One last time? Please?” he pleads, his brown eyes begging for you to be in his arms.
“It won’t be our last, Din” He pulls you into his chest, the sudden loss of armor allowing you to feel your skin against his.
His hand pulls your head into his chest, grasping the back of your head gently. He breathes you in, relishing the moment he wished he could have had so long ago. The cabin stood in silence, soft sobs from the mourning couple flowing through it.
Din didn’t feel cold anymore, he feels the warmth he hasn’t felt in a long time. He pulls away briefly only to pull you back in but this time to place his lips on yours. It was simply breathtaking, he was in the air. Floating in the love that has always made him feel like he was soaring in the clouds. The lips that drank him in since day one were as soft as he remembered. Even with the tears that mixed in, it was just as tender. His hands gripping your back, attempting to memorize your touch till the day he does see you again. You pull away gently, letting your lips hover over his, his eyes still squeezed shut at the feeling he hasn’t felt since you left.
“We’ll meet again, Riduur” you breathe out.
Opening his eyes, the sight in front of him was no longer the one he longed for. He moves around in the stiff seat of the pilot's chair, before stilling. He lets out a groan, that slowly turns to a dried sob his chest empty of any sparing of emotions. The green child that’s settled on his chest cooed, looking upon his father with glossy eyes. He was crying too. His tiny green hand was placed on his face, attempting to give him the comfort that he needs. Yet, Din knows nothing will ever provide him comfort. Not when he knows your ghost lingers the walls of the crest.
He gives the child a tight smile.
“I miss them too, kid”
