You cannot convince me that Alec looks that much like Will. Like, I know it's cannon that they do, but I just know that apart from hair and eyes he's a literal copy of Maryse. I just know. Woke up this morning and a wave of nostalgia hit me.

Ahhh...the good old days. Good to know I haven't aged a day since the last March 15th I came out of my house and saw the sunlight.

Also, I just called the new random brown cat with blue eyes that showed at our house one day is now ours, Malec.

Felt cute, might call my future children Alec, Stupid and Nephilim although my therapist told me that I'm projecting and that's not a good idea.

“Alec?“ Magnus was staring at him. He had dispatched the remaining Iblis demons, and the square was empty but for the two of them. “Did you just- did you just save my life?”

Alec knew he ought to say something like, Of course, because I’m a Shadowhunter and that’s what we do, or That’s my job. Jace would have said something like that. Jace always knew the right thing to say. But the words that actually came out of Alec’s mouth where quite different- and sounded petulant, even to his own ears. “You never called me back,“ he said. "I called you so many times and you never called me back.”

Magnus looked at Alec as if he’d lost his mind. “Your city is under attack,” he said. “The wards have been broken, and the streets are full of demons. And you want to know why I haven’t called you?”

Alec set his jaw in a stubborn line. “I want to know why you haven’t called me back.”

Magnus threw his hands up in the air in a gesture of utter exasperation. Alec noted with interest that when he did it, a few sparks escaped from his fingertips, like fireflies escaping from a jar. “You’re an idiot.”

“Is that why you haven’t called me? Because I’m an idiot?”

“No.” Magnus strode toward him. “I didn’t call you because I’m tired of you only wanting me around when you need something. I’m tired of watching you be in love with someone else - someone, incidentally, who will never love you back. Not the way I do.”

“You love me?”

“You stupid Nephilim,” Magnus said patiently. “Why else am I here? Why else would I have spent the past few weeks patching up all your moronic friends every time they got hurt? And getting you out of every ridiculous situation you found yourself in? Not to mention helping you win a battle against Valentine. And all completely free of charge!” 

I think it’s very interesting that Alec’s full name is Alexander.

Alexander means ‘man’s defender’ which is often his tactical position during fights. He defends the perimeter with his bow and often gets the brunt of attacks.

Although it fits perfectly with his identity as a Shadowhunter, it also fits nicely with his personality.

Alec is very defensive over the people he loves:

- He threatens Clary over Jace

- Kills Meliorn when searching for Magnus (insane moment that cemented him as my favourite character)

- Was adverse to Simon dating his sister (who he’s extremely protective of)

Even with his sons he’s always defending them, he worked hard to make sure Rafael was adopted properly.

Not to mention all the things he does for the Downworlder community.

Alec spent a lot of his life worrying about being unable to live up to expectations, only to become what his name represented.

Can we take a brief moment to talk about how PERFECT Maryse and Robert would have been in another universe?

They're such a common trope, people, and such a good one, but gone wrong.

Like, be fr, hot, gorgeous, smart, short-tempered, stubborn, I will kill u if u piss me off, traumatized gf, and I'm just a fictional adult, might be gay (bi), why's m bff so hot, quiet, traumatized as hell, let me stay in the shadows, twink bf?????

Also, can we talk about what a perfect mix Alec and Izzy came out to be? Like, black hair, blue eyes, got them looks from Maryse. Alec is like super introverted, which in my delulu head canon is a trait he got from Robert, together with the awkwardness and quietness (plus the poker face), which reminds Maryse of the young Robert she fell in love with (pulled that out of nowhere, don't question it).

And I just know Izzy's just a copy of young Maryse and you CANNOT convince me otherwise.
