Yeah, that's right. I can tell how many bunnies you've destroyed just by looking at you.
He wishes you would :/
I spent most of my project time yesterday researching some specific things about the game's engine, like whether a certain mechanic would be possible etc. It all came back as good news, though I can't say what all of it was since it would kind of spoil some of the fun in playing to know ahead of time.
But what I can say is that I think I'll be able to release the game in installments and people should be able to carry their save files over between each of them, which is one thing I wasn't sure would be possible. It will just require a little bit of planning ahead of time on my part, since adding certain things to a new installment would break old save files (mainly plugins or certain types of scripts requiring data initialization at startup).
So as long as I make sure all the plugins I want to use for the game are already implemented at the first launch, there shouldn't be any problems with people playing the whole thing across one save file through multiple releases/"expansions" or whatever. And of course, I can't delete anything from the new installments that already existed in the former ones.
So that's exciting, because it means I can release a playable game sooner, though I still don't have a release timeframe set yet. What I would like to do is release 1 love interest route at a time, starting with Yurei. And obviously Kage will be in that first release and all subsequent ones because he just won't fucking leave you alone
Working on weather effects for 2-Headed Boy, added some fog to the city map (or maybe it's just pollution, let's be real)
Fixed the sprites for love interest Shinkiro, I accidentally made his skin peach-colored before. Now he's grey, just as God intended. Or y'know, whoever.
It's h a p p e n i n g
Will probably be up all night working on my Steam page stuff
So I got all the sprites in for the adoptable cats at the cat cafe. I had to edit each sprite with each accessory in each of its available colors for each cat and then put them into the sequence for customization.
Including the bonus options you get if you donate a total of $15 to the game budget, that came out to about 360 cat sprites I think. 10 base game cats and 10 bonus cats plus their accessory options.
Phew. Oh, that was the other thing; my Ko-Fi shop now has the option of buying extra cat options for adoption. The extras are fun things like ghost cats, robot cats, and unique colors. It's a set of 10 for $15 and you also get an extra cat slot - meaning you can adopt 2 cats instead of 1 (1 normal cat and one bonus cat).
You can use it as many times as you want (if you made a 2nd save file for example).
I might be able to work it around so that you can just have 2 bonus cats with the purchase instead of having to adopt a normal one first. It depends on whether enough people buy that and want that as an option I suppose.
The cat cafe pack will also play a special cutscene with Kage (it won't cause any stat changes like a normal cutscene though, because it's a cosmetic pack, and does not impact gameplay or change the story at all).
You can check out the pack at my Ko-Fi store!
I also fixed it so that the cat does not disappear immediately upon picking out a type of cat. Now you can at least see what your accessory you first picked out looks like on your new cat before it gets delivered to your apt. Also added the option to the wardrobe to just remove all accessories if you decide you want your cat unaccessorized.
And finally, as you can see in the video, I've reworked the color scheme in the cat cafe. It now starts as a wooden look by default and can be repainted to a few other options (once you have unlocked that feature in the game by hitting a certain level with Yurei).
omg it looks so good.... adding weather mechanics is super cool! does the weather affect anything/trigger any specific scene between the player and kage?
Thank you, the season changes of course do and I'm still brainstorming how to tie the weather into events in the game. Since it's randomized I can't do anything that would be drastically significant to the story. But I can work in something fun for that for sure, some smaller scenes or changes that give an opportunity for stat altering encounters
Full chain of dialogue from my previous post. WIP prototype of my upcoming F2P yandere boyfriend rpg.
I see already I need to adjust the font on the choice menus since option 3 is getting cut off!
Also gonna darken Kage's hair. I was originally going to have some transparency for this shot of him, so I wasn't too worried about the hair tone, but I decided against that. Maybe I'll change my mind again. Either way it's getting darkened.
Small redraw of Kage sprite in sad mode
