Fans of VADD, what was it about the story/premise that made you read it and at which point did it become your favorite? You can Reblog your answers.

For me personally, it was the Female Lead's name and hair. I have personally held a special place in my heart for the name Penelope I can't explain it. Ironically I had an OC whom I named Penelope who was a redhead but it was more orange.

Speaking of hair, Penelope's hair was the first thing that stood out to me about her. I've seen and read my fair share of anime, light novels, and manhua but I personally never saw the shade of pink Penelope has so I was very surprised. Usually, any pink-haired character has the soft pinks we see with characters like Reynold and Ivonne. They were never as dark as Penelope's.

This kind of works for the story in my opinion because her darker hair fits her image as the villainess since in media the villains usually have a darker color palette compared to the main characters. This is ironic considering that Ivonne the main character of the game who has brighter hair and color palette was actually the villain.

Modern Au

Penelope and Callisto use to secretly date in high school. They met at the beginning of their final year of high school but broke up just before graduation. While they were compatible with one another, it was their family problems that drove them apart.

Callisto's relationship with his stepmother was downright hostile and Penelope was still clinging to the possibility that her family might love her. They both tried to not let it affect their romantic life but there was only so much they could have done given that they both were about to graduate and possibly go to different universities.

This all resulted in a massive argument between them that ultimately led them to break up.

They graduated high school got into different colleges, graduated from said colleges and got jobs and try to move on with their lives. The key word being tried. While they didn't want to admit it, they still miss one another and all the good times they had even if it was for a short time.

Years later they've both gotten promoted in their jobs. Their companies just so happen to collab with each other on a big project. Penelope and Callisto who are very hard workers in their jobs are chosen by their respective companies to be a part of this project, they think it will be just like every other assignment they've done before.

So imagine their surprise when they see each other at the beginning of the program. Their minds are like "Oh shit, what is he/she doing here?" while keeping a poker face. They decide right then and there to avoid each other as subtly as possible to avoid drama but low and behold their place in the same group together.

Not a problem they'll just do what they do best, ignore the problem till it goes away or till they have no choice but to confront it. The two of them decided that avoiding each other outside of work is the best option and all seems to go well...…....for a while.

You see, Penelope and Callisto work very well together despite trying to avoid any other interaction with one another. But even then they tend to bicker and throw jabs at one another at every chance they get.

Their other group members have collectively agreed that they are made for one another. Cut to them trying their best to get Penelope and Callisto to spend as much time together as possible without it being too suspicious.

This leads to both parties feeling emotionally drained at the end of every day from all the mental gymnastics they're doing around each other. They catch on to what their colleges are doing but don't have the time to tell them to stop, plus they'd prefer not to go around explaining that the person the group is trying to set them up with is the high school ex.

But soon they settle into their temporary routines and sparks are beginning to fly between to two. They're more comfortable around each other now and are reminded of how things were between them when they started dating years ago.

Everything is going normal until months later when they hit an important milestone in their project. To celebrate, their bosses take their workers out for a few drinks. You can see where this is going.

Long story short, Penelope and Callisto both get drunk, head off to Callisto's apartment and had sex, they went at it the whole night and slept till noon and would have missed work if it wasn't a Saturday.

Suffice it to say they were horrified when they woke up. To make matters worse, Penelope can't leave cause there is a massive storm outside, the streets are flooding and people are advised to remain indoors. So they've stuck indoors...…with each other...….not a problem at all.

They are a little awkward around each other since this is their first time in years interacting with each other outside of work. Things were a little tense on day one but they settled into a temporary routine by day two and were comfortable sharing a space together. But they could only ignore the massive elephant in the room for so long.

One of them finally brought up the topic that they indeed slept together the night before. Their both not embarrassed by this considering they were each other's first in high school. But the conversation inevitably shifts to their nasty breakup literally a week before graduation, and that leads them to bring up some still painful memories about the families they've since cut off from their lives.

To them, there was just too much happening all at once so suddenly. Things got tense in their respective households, they had to prepare for graduation, prepare college and all that jazz. They didn't seem to have time to process their emotions back then which lead to them braking up on such bad terms.

But now they're older and have worked through their issues over the years. However, they genuinely never expected to see one another again after going to separate colleges.

So after a very long talk, they decided to give their relationship another chance. They took things slow at the beginning which escalated to going on trips together and moving in together. After two years Callisto proposed, they got married, bought a house and had kids.

THE END

Pregnancy Shenanigans

Penelope slept a lot when she was deeper into her pregnancy like you could not wake her up unless it was time to eat or bathe.

I imagine she had quite a death grip on Callisto whenever they slept at night and he had to pry himself away to get up for work.

But no matter what he did he would not escape her for long. Sometimes if she felt clingy she would waddle to his office and sit in his lap without a word and stay there.

Penelope ate a lot more food than before thanks to her pregnancy cravings. She had had a better relationship with food even after giving birth.

When the doctor recommended going on walks every day to build muscles for labour, Callisto made sure she went on a walk three times a day after every meal.

She hated it.

I imagine that later in her 2nd trimester is when the shenanigans started.

Penelope and Callisto didn't know what to expect when it came to their future child. Given that they both descendants of ancient wizards and the golden dragon respectively.

So it didn't surprise them that much when their child was suddenly using magic while still in the womb.

It was mostly harmless things like levitating small items in whatever room Penelope was in nothing else.

But there was one incident where an assassin tried to assassinate Penelope in the night when Callisto had to work late. The guards were alerted to the intruder right away but the assassin held her hostage in an attempt to escape.

In all of the commotion no one noticed Penelope navel glowing gold as the baby reacted to their mother's fear and levitate a vase to smash it into the assassin's head making him release Penelope from surprise. He was executed by the guards present.

After that they moved the Empress to a another room for the rest of her pregnancy. Callisto became paranoid after the incident.

Luckily the rest of her pregnancy went smoothly.

So I had a realization while filling in my info in my period app and then remembered that there were a lot of factors that affect our cycles. When I realized something.

Penelope probably did not have her period for a good chunk if not the novel's entirety. Because from the very beginning we learn that the servants at the duchy have no problem feeding her rotten food. Therefore with her having poor nutrition and not consuming enough calories, her menstrual cycle is basically a mess.

It only got better in the years she was studying at the academy. I'm willing to bet my firstborn child that Judith would have been conceived much earlier if Penelope had a regular cycle. But I don't want to think about how painful her periods were when she finally got it.

Mermaid Au

All characters are mermaids, no humans. Mermaids in this Au eat fish and have claws for hunting. They live in underwater caves called dens. They usually live in big pods of over 10 mermaids for protection but some choose to have smaller groups. They also have claws, sharp teeth, and powerful jaws for hunting the sea life. Males are usually much bigger than females and are more aggressive but females can hold their own against them. Mermaids also have fins where their ears go.

Penelope has a dark green tail and fins Callisto has a blood-red tail and fins

When she was young Penelope's mother died from injuries sustained from a killer whale attack and a lack of resources leaving Penelope to fend for herself.

The Duke who was looking for Yvonne after she was separated from them found Penelope and took her in. Reynold and Derrick were not happy about this and never fully accepted her into the pod. As such, she was seen as an outcast in the group and always given smaller portions of their hunt so she sneaked out to go hunt for herself.

She found a nice little cave to eat in whenever she wants alone time a good distance from where the Eckharts reside. One day when coming back from a successful hunt she is attacked by an injured merman.

Callisto is the strongest in his group as well as the best hunter. His father is the group leader who is in charge of protecting them. He was very unhappy with his father for taking another mate right after his mother passed. And his stepmother wanted to get rid of him.

She had his father send him to hunt in an area filled with hostile mermen who were kicked out for being too aggressive. He killed them though but he got injured during the fight. He couldn't go back to his group yet because the smell of blood would attract other predators. So he sought refuge in a cave. The same cave Penelope frequents.

Penelope was dragging her still alive prey, an octopus to her cave so she can eat it in peace. It took her a great deal of time to catch because of how slippery they are. Callisto heard her coming assumed she was an enemy and attacked, only to let her go once he realized she was harmless. Penny still fought back though.

During their little scuffle Penelope's prey got away, she was very mad about it, octopus is her favorite. Callisto did apologize about it though but she didn't want to hear it, not only was he in her spot but he was the reason her food got away.

To make it up to her he offered to catch something for her instead but she declined more interesting in why he was there in the first place. So he explains the series of events that lead him here. Penelope is horrified as the area he's talking about is not far from her cave.

But she is madder than someone is invading her safe spot, so when Callisto mentions that he's staying till his injuries heal, she goes out to get medicine to heal him with the logic that the sooner he is healed, the sooner he will leave. He is very taken aback since nobody but his mother ever did something like this for him, so he lets her.

Even when he eventually leaves, he keeps coming back to the cave to see her. But because they don't want anyone from their group to find out they both go to the cave at different times. He even brings her food which quickly silenced any objections she had. Completely unknown to Penelope, Callisto was actually courting her by offering food and leaving her other gifts. He was planning on finding her during mating season to take her as his mate.

This became the new normal for them, sneaking off to their little cave until they were found out. Derrick had begun to notice Penelope sneaking off, not only that but she was gaining weight. He did not think much of it until he notice the smell of an unknown male on her. He was pissed, he never liked her since she was brought into their group thinking she could never fill the void felt when Yvonne went missing. And now she was sneaking off to go galivant with an unknown male and was probably pregnant (she was not, it was from all the prey Callisto gave her).

The next time Penelope snuck out he followed her from a distance to see what she was really doing. Unknown to him that Reynold was also following him, having noticed Derrick's weird behaviour when looking at Penelope. Reynold knew she's been sneaking off for years now but never thought much of it since she was never gone for long so he thought whatever she was doing was harmless. So he was kind of alarmed when he noticed Derrick following her knowing nothing good will come of it.

Penelope is none the wiser about being followed and reaches the cave first. Derrick upon reaching the cave notices that the smell of the unknown merman is all over the area and assumes this is his den.

He gets confronts her about it right there. Penelope is obviously terrified, she's always been scared of Derrick he was always openly hostile towards her from the very beginning even more as they grew up. Now he's found her only safe space and he knows about her meeting, someone. He's getting angrier and has her cornered now.

The only thing she can do now is trying to get him away from the cave in case Callisto shows up. He may get the wrong idea and blindly attack. Knowing him it could end in bloodshed given both of their personalities.

Luck however was not on her side cause Callisto does show up. Neither of them noticed him because he came through the kelp. He heard Penelope talking to someone and she sounded scared which was alarming as no one else was supposed to be there. Just as he comes into view Derrick suddenly grabs her digging his claws into her skin.

Seeing that he was going to hurt her Callisto attacks him. Knocking Derrick away catching him by surprise and putting himself between him and Penny. Who is officially freaking out, this is going to end very badly. The two males were going to rip each other to shreds and there was nothing she could do.

As if the gods heard her pray Reynold showed up and he and Penelope were able to separate the two males before they could mortally wound one another. Once that is done Penelope tries to convince Callisto to leave to calm the situation. He doesn't want to leave her but knows staying would only make things so he complies with a promise that she'll be ok.

She goes to the brothers where Reynold is still holding back Derrick. Derrick breaks free from Reynold and begins dragging her back to the dens, once there he keeps her trapped in an unused cave on the outskirts of the dens as punishment.

For weeks she stayed there locked if Reynold had not come around every day to feed her she would have starved. Even the Duke barely came to visit her, he didn't even ask for her side of the story only to scold her for meeting an unknown merman.

She would have stayed there longer but they had to migrate to the tropics for mating season. Penelope would have been left behind if Reynold didn't plead with their father to let her out and take her with them. Knowing that the other mermaids in their pod would not feed her when they're gone. the Duke agrees to let her go but she had trouble keeping up with them because she hasn't been outside. So Reynold carried her the entire way.

Mermaids go to the tropics to warmer waters for mating season. It's very common for various pods of mermaids to meet up there to find a mate. Their a little less hostile to each other as they tend to breed with other mers from different pods to prevent inbreeding. Some mermaids even leave their group to join their new mates or break off to start their own.

Penelope was looking forward to it because there was a chance that Callisto was going to be there. He had mentioned it briefly months before the location of the breeding grounds. They finally arrive after a week of constant swimming, there were other pods there already but Callisto was nowhere in sight.

Disappointed she heads back to the den she picked out. Mermaids don't stay with their pods when on the breeding grounds to encourage mingling with others. Plus mers often leave their pods to form their own when they get a mate.

The next day all the females were mingling together to prepare for the day, and the males were out hunting. Mating usually starts when at least one female goes into heat triggering all the others to go into heat as well. This is due to many generations of mermaids mating in warmer waters, their bodies subconsciously know that they are going to mate and prepare accordingly. So it's important that all females group together to ensure that they all go into heat, then they go into their dens and wait for a male they like and invite them in.

Around midday is when things started to kick in, by then all the mermaids had gone into their den and the mermen had returned from hunting. Penelope just wanted to remain unbothered, still sad about the fact that she hasn't seen Callisto in months.

Her heat was starting to take over, and everything was starting to burn. It seemed more intense with all the pheromones wafting around the water. Instincts taking over she cries out for a male to give her relief, and a hand reaches out to touch her. Surprised, she lashes out to claw its owner only to stop when she sees who it belonged to.

Callisto had travelled day and night to get to the mating grounds in time. His stepmother had struck again, this time she sent him to an area infested with orcas. He had to lead them on a wild goose chase for two days just so they'd lose interest in him. By the time he got by to the area, his pod lives in they were gone.

He kept swimming till he reached the mating grounds, praying that he wasn't too late. That Penelope had not chosen another male as her mate. His witch stepmother had tried again to get rid of him, sending him straight into a gang of orcas.

By the time he got back to his home, his pod had already set off to the mating grounds. Luckily he arrived just as the mermen were coming back from hunting. He recognized Reynold from before and with relief realized the Penelope was somewhere on the grounds.

The only problem was, that the mating ground are massive and the caves there were hidden in the seaweed. Giving its inhabitants some much-needed privacy for what they're doing. So the only thing he could do was swim about listening for her call.

Finally, he found her in a small cave similar to the one they shared all those months ago. She was just as beautiful as he remembered her. She had lost weight but that could be taken care of later.

Penelope was stunned, she was beginning to accept that she may never see him again after months of not knowing if he is alive. Without hesitation, she pulls him into her den where they spent the rest of the season.

Once the mating season was done the mers either went back to their pods or broke off to join another pod. Penelope and Callisto were the latter joining a group of other mers whom they met over the season and finally getting away from their awful families.

Months later Penelope and two other females suddenly disappeared. Callisto was obviously worried until an elder female reassured him that they would be back in a few weeks. True to her word, Penelope all came back safe and sound her own little surprise in her arms.

When a mermaid is expecting she eats twice her amount than usual to make up for the final trimester where she leaves the pods to give birth in a secluded area. Her fellow mermaids will also go with her to provide support and help in the birthing process and watch out for intruders. Once they give birth they stay a couple more days to nurse their pup before introducing them to their mate and the pod.

So to say Callisto was ecstatic to find out his mate had given birth to their pup would be an understatement. His daughter was so tiny she didn't even fit into both of his large hands.

An Unlikely Pet

The maids have not cleaned her bedroom in months. It's gotten to a point where rats are beginning to infest her room. No matter what she did nobody would believe her thinking she was exaggerating. She gives up and decides to clean her room herself.

Days later the rats begin to mysteriously decrease in large numbers. When investigating the reason, Penelope makes a horrifying discovery. Inside one of her vanity draws is a snake...…a SNAKE!!! It was sleeping so Penelope quickly shuts it and tries to go about her day as if nothing happens.

But when she eventually goes to the vanity draws and finds it is still there but it's awake. They make eye contact and both of them freak out, the poor snake was trembling and trying to seem bigger but it was so scared. Penelope realizes it's just as scared of her as she is of it. So she tries to calm it down by offering it a blanket.

The next thing she knows hours have passed and she has a sleeping snake in her hands. Judging by its size, it's probably a newborn snake which would explain why they were so scared or it was just their personality, probably the latter. Anyway, her new scaley friend who Penelope named Onyx is basically imprinted on Penelope after their first meeting and now permanently resides in one of her jewellery boxes.

Years later, our dear Penelope finds out that they are a magic beast/monster when they keep growing till they are the size of a basketball court and can't fit into her room anymore. Don't worry she commissions a wizard to make a device that allows Onyx to shrink to any size they want.

You can not look me dead in my eyes and tell me Callisto did not pamper the shit out of Penelope when they got married. I know he for a FACT, he had her walking around in the finest gowns and let her eat to her heart's content when she was pregnant. This man wanted the very BEST of everything for his wife and would not accept anything less

When she was pregnant with Judith, Penelope began sleeping a lot like 10plus hours a day A LOT. She finally accepted that she wouldn't be put into life or death situations anymore and finally let herself relax for the first time in years. At first, it was quite concerning, since she had a habit of staying up late and getting lost in her research all the time. But Callisto got over it because she was eating healthy and gaining weight. The sleepy cuddles were a bonus too.

Hear me out. An AU with Penelope and Callisto as Morticia and Gomez Adams. Callisto already worships the ground Penny walks on in the novel. Callisto proclaims his love for her, Penelope looking at him like he's the only thing she can see.

They'd have their haunted gothic mansion Callisto has a torture chamber while Penelope has her laboratory. They take long walks in the forest or dance in their ballroom on date nights. Judith is obviously Wednesday but more expressive and joyfully torturing her younger sibling and poor Cedric is Lurch.

A/B/O Au Headcannon

Penelope is an omega and Callisto is an alpha.

Penelope is starting her first heat with Callisto after they got together. Their spending her heat in a safe house so they would have some privacy.

She's a bit dazed as her heat begins and is building her nest just the way she always does. She finishes her nest and calls Callisto to have some *coughcough* fun.

As their getting into the mood Penelope drags her hands across Callisto's body and realises that she made the nest to only fit her alone meaning that Callisto would ruin all her hard work just getting in. So she promptly shoves him away to quickly fix the nest to fit the two of them. Callisto spent the next 15 minutes waiting for her to finish her readjustments.

They spent the entire week in the safe house. And 40 weeks later Judith was born.

DITOEFTV Genshin

If Penelope was a genshin character she would be a Bow user or a catalyst user, she would have a Dendro vision. Her elemental skill spreads dendro mist that blinds enemies. If they come in contact with pyro it triggers burning. Hydro would trigger moss which slowly drains enemies' HP. And anemo would spread the dendro. Her elemental burst would be just like Bennett's burst she provides healing and buffs and other characters' attacks.

I also like the idea that in Penelope's genshin design she has ears like Sucrose and Yea Miko. In which her ears completely blend into her hair and no one even notices unless their looking closely or when they twitch.

What element would the capture targets have? I know that they'd all be sword users with the exception of Vinter who may be a catalyst user.

DITOEFTV The Dark Figure

Every time Penelope is in a potentially life-threatening situation a tall dark figure can be seen looming behind her in the background. It looks like a person but their face is covered by a dark cloak. The capture targets can see this figure but everyone else can't.

Depending on the likelihood of her dying the closer the figure gets to her. For example, in her encounter with Callisto in the royal garden, the figure appears right behind her as Callisto has his sword to her neck. Each of the capture targets eventually piece together that the dark figure is tied to how close Penelope is to dying.

So they are very much petrified during Penelope's coming of age ceremony where she drinks poison and the dark figure that usually stands still behind her when she's in danger is actively moving to grab her as she is dying from the poison. They are all very relieved when it backs off and eventually disappear after she is given the emergency antidote.

Death is the Only Ending for the Villainess

I'm just imaging an Au where instead of ghost Yvonne where only Penelope can see her. We get to the ghost of Penelope's mother (We'll call her Mama for now) where only the capture targets can see her.

The first ones to notice her are the Eckart brothers they are having dinner with the Duke and suddenly they see this woman just floating behind Penelope. They had to pretend that they couldn't see her for the entire meal. But she notices that they can see her, she was kind enough to get them alone before she absolutely TEARS into them. Screaming like a banshee about all the nasty things they've done to Penelope, how she wants to strangle them and bury them alive etc...

She later learns that every time the capture targets notice her she gains the ability to haunt things. Mama uses this new ability to terrorise the household staff. From minor inconveniences to giving them heart attacks at night with her hauntings.

DITOEFTV Encanto songs

I was listening to the Encanto soundtrack when I thought about scenarios where Penelope is singing the songs "Waiting on a Miracle" and "What else can I do?". In this au everyone has a magical ability or gifts like Encanto and Penelope's gift is like Isabella's. I'll explain why. In this au Penelope has the title of "the perfect lady". She puts a lot of pressure on herself trying to be perfect to not bring shame to the Eckharts.

Waiting on a Miracle

As Penelope sings this song she thinks about she's always trying her best to be perfect to get the Eckharts to accept her as one of them ever since she arrived at the duchy and doubling her efforts after the necklace incident. She tries to convince herself that she is fine with the direction her life is going before she cracks and admits to herself that she is not fine. She does not want to pretend to be perfect feel loved.

What else can I do?

As mentioned above Penelope's ability is being able to control plants like Isabella. Like Isabella, she could only do flowers and never went beyond that as she tries to fit herself in this perfect mould. Then Yvonne (not possessed) comes back to the duchy and she feels like her world is crumbling around her.

She and Yvonne do not see eye to eye. After a very disastrous family dinner due to an argument, Penelope goes back to her room, hours later Yvonne comes into her room to reconcile considering she was the reason the fight started in the first place.

Yvonne is giving this half-assed apology when Penny has had enough of people's bullshit for the day a uses her vines to drag Yvonne out like Isabella did Mirabel. As she is getting dragged out Yvonne is throwing jabs at her which Penelope ignores until she hears the word selfish.

"SELFISH!? I've been forced to live in a house where people wouldn't care if I dropped dead. I try to move on, try to find something new but you just had to come along and MESS THINGS UP!"

"Nothings messed up you can still have that stupid title!"

"I never wanted that title! I was doing it FOR THE DUCHY!"

Penny is shocked she never grew anything other than flowers before ever since she got her power. She's in awe of the unsymmetrical creation. She begins to wonder what else can she do?

• Penelope's love language is words of affirmation, you can not be subtle with your love around her you either say it to her face or not say it at all.

• Penelope gets her looks from her mother and her hair and eye color from her father

•The Duchess Eckhart died giving birth to Yvonne. She and the Duke married for love cause if it was an arranged marriage they wouldn't have anymore children after Derrick.

• When penelope gave birth she did not let go of Judith at all, the only people allowed to touch Judith was Callisto and Emily.

• For their 1st wedding anniversary Callisto gave Penelope a bear skin as a way to remember their first gifts to each other.

Baby Judith: "Mommy's baby"

Penelope: "Your what?"

Judith: "I'm mommy's baby"

Penelope: "You're my baby?"

Judith: "YES!!"
