I need this more than air
I need an academics to rivals Moonwater AU. I'm talking YEARS of competitive obsession.
Remus hates Regulus for how previliged he is and how easy it is for him to claim the spotlight everywhere he goes, for not having to fight tooth or nail to make something out of himself.
Regulus hates Remus' ability to still love learning, he hates the glint that shines in his eyes and the small smile he wears when he he gets a right answer or when he gets a good mark, he would do anything to feel just an ounce of that. To feel anything at all.
Both Lily and Barty had remarked on many occasions about how all encompassing their obsession with one another was. They were tired of hearing the same monologues every day for the last couple of years, of how infuriating and maddening the other was.
They won't have a proper conversation until years after, and in one hour something clicks, the way that those rare connections happen only few times in a Lifetime.
They will continue coexisting around one another, nothing new but none of the glares and longing looks for something you wish you could have. From the on, there are glances and small smiles and maybe even a few words exchanged around corridors. Orbiting stars that somehow can't seem to get closer to one another no matter what.
Extreme slow-burn, maybe a 100k until they even say one another's name.
Anyway just your average Sunday afternoon craving
the sky is a moonwater fan tonight
