I am a WHORE for “the love is requited, they’re both just idiots”
So, we all know that Eddie hated Buck so easily saying he was the one who should’ve been shot.
But can we take a minute to acknowledge how much it also hurt him? He’s not just exasperated. There’s a reason he’s so emotional talking about it later.
It’s absolutely gut wrenching to hear someone you love talk about themselves like they don’t matter. Like their life doesn’t matter. And Eddie has been listening to Buck’s self-deprecation for a long time.
This was just what finally broke him.
I think people forget the damage blimps can and have done in the past. Like those fuckers are gonna cause huge damage, especially in a football stadium (or soccer stadium for all Americans). Like yeah they are ‘air’ but that doesn’t mean they aren’t dangerous.
So yeah a blimp disaster this season is gonna be major. Isolated, maybe. But still gonna do a lot of damage.
Mind swimming with thoughts
What if...
What if, instead of a "you guys have an adorable son" 2.0, we have the opposite of it?
What if someone comes up to Eddie to tell him that "Chris uncle is so good with him!" or that "Chris could never find a better godfather!", or some heteronormative shit like that?
What if Eddie blanches, freezes, because that should be what Buck is, right? An uncle, a godfather, a friend of the family?
But, then, why does all that sounds so little in face of who Buck really is?
Buck is his best friend, the best he's ever had. He's also Chris' best friend, and while he is slightly envious of the title, it's not bad. He isn't Chris godfather, though, much less his uncle, even though they do look alike, with the curls and all, almost like they're...
Like they're father and son.
Oh.
Oh.
When he put Buck on his will, so long ago (a lifetime, really), he was... Listen, both Adriana and Sophia are lovely to Chris. They never treat him like he's breakable, incapable of doing things on his own, they never prive him from his agency. When he still lived in El Paso, he was overjoyed whenever they stopped by to look after Chris. They knew his son was amazing and shouldn't be put down for doing his own thing.
Adriana had a degree in pedagogy and Sophia was a physiotherapist. If the worst came to happen, they'd look after Christopher, and they'd do it well.
But...
But.
Whenever he thought about Buck's place in his life, he never put him in a "friend" category. Not since he stepped up and helped Eddie get back to his son after the earthquake, or when he saw Eddie struggling and introduced him to Carla, or when saved him from a tsunami.
After that first year, with its highs and lows, Buck became family. He slotted into their dynamic incredibly well, helped juggle the duties when Eddie was getting overwhelmed, learned to take cues for when to take a little more than usual. They learned how to communicate from a single look, and, yes, for their incredibly dangerous job but also for things like "did he put sunscreen on?" or "just five more minutes of videogames and he needs to do his schoolwork" or "this movie is not appropriate for his age".
Buck looked at their little family and asked "is there anyone taking that spouse spot?" and didn't wait for an answer.
And, fuck, Eddie wasn't mad that he hadn't waited for it. Before now, before therapy, he didn't know if he'd accept it.
But right now? When he has his head coming into a good place, a place where he could see that he deserved help, he deserved good things, he deserved to be loved?
By all the gods and saints, Eddie was ready to accept everything Buck had to offer and strive to return it tenfold.
Buck was theirs, his and Chris', just as much as their were Buck's. He only needed to know how to say it out loud.
Whenever Netflix gets around to doing something with the rights to the Chronicles of Narnia, I want them to know one thing:
One that begins right after the Pevensies’ coronation, and ends when they accidentally stumble back through the wardrobe.
We want episodes about adjusting to the responsibility of being rulers.
We want episodes about Peter subconsciously using WWII tactics when fighting the Giants in Ettismoor to the north, and being horrified with himself when he realizes.
We want episodes about how the Pevensies earned their titles—the Magnificent, the Gentle, the Just, the Valiant.
We want episodes about Susan receiving her first offer of marriage from a suitor, and struggling with the idea of ever leaving her siblings—even for love.
We want episodes on how Archenland was rebuilt, and about the disappearance of Prince Cor.
We want episodes about Edmund having chronic nightmares for their first couple of years in Narnia and trying to hide it, struggling to learn to forgive himself as Aslan forgave him.
We want episodes about how the apple orchard came to be.
We want episodes about the wars with Calormen.
We want episodes about Lucy getting tired of being cooped up in Cair Paravel and deciding to go on an adventure of her own—only for Peter to comedically misread the situation and believe she’s been kidnapped.
We want special episodes about the Horse and His Boy from the Pevensies’ point of view, possibly even tying in with a Horse and His Boy movie.
We want episodes where, matched in a battle of wits with a neighboring princess, Edmund is too busy trying to verbally destroy her to realize that he’s fallen head-over-heels in love with her.
We want comedic episodes where Peter and Edmund test their sisters’ suitors.
We want episodes where it becomes painfully obvious that Lucy is Peter’s favorite sister.
We want episodes where, when a sudden sickness strikes the land, Susan abandons all caution to help nurse her people, and all learn why she is called the Gentle.
We want episodes where the Pevensies first come to the Lone Islands.
We want episodes where, when visiting a neighboring country, someone in court is abruptly murdered and Edmund plays detective for an entire arc.
We want episodes where Lucy saves Peter in just the nick of time with a force of archers during one of the battles with Calormen.
We want episodes about Narnia healing from its time under the White Witch.
We want episodes about how much their people loved them—and how distraught they were in the aftermath of their disappearance.
We want Golden Age Narnia.
The more I think about it, Buck making not one but two jokes about jerking off when talking to Hen about becoming a sperm donor? The more it becomes one of the most casually heartbreaking Buck scenes we've ever witnessed.
The way Buck will use his body to deflect from the vast well of grief and pain that he cannot bear to feel. (And a clever writing choice to have Hen be drunk and also navigating her own crisis, because I bet a sober Hen would have clocked what was going on.)
That he didn't even allow himself to contemplate the ramifications — beyond jerking off in a cup — of giving away a part of himself. Because that's all he is, right? Just DNA, just body parts, just a body. Best he can hope is for his parts to be useful. He can be good at his job and he can take care of Chris if Eddie dies and he can use his body to help an old friend have a family, something Buck's heart desperately wants, but doesn't believe he'll ever get to have.
But he can't think about any of that. So it's just dick jokes. Fucking brutal, 911.
andrew garfields peter is going to see tom holland’s peter in a multi million dollar suit and turn around and leave
i love when characters are in the middle of getting down and dirty or even just a first kiss type of situation and they just-
stop and whisper "hi" to each other
foreheads touching, both in awe that something is finally happening between them and they're so in love and stupid about each other
i just- love their love
wait. making these tags a separate post. this is about the heart drawing.
#look. i have this headcanon. and it's not quite as romantic but.#i really.#i think since buck was helping chris with his homework he figured out pretty quickly - if not right away#that he was supposed to be drawing an anatomical heart#but the thing is they've all had a hard couple of weeks#and chris's homework attempts and smiles are half-hearted at best#so he makes a game of it - 'i bet i can draw a better heart than you'#and he hides his work from chris and goes on and on about how amazing his heart is going to be and how hard he's working on it#and when he shows chris at the end - big huge smile as he feigns ignorance of the nature of the assignment#chris laughs and it's the best sound he's heard all day#and it's an intentional silliness but it's an act of love too#he drew it to bring his family joy#and so maybe he leaves it out so eddie can see it too#and eddie doesn't smile exactly#but he does raise his eyebrows and look at buck with that semi-incredulous stare that buck's been on the other end of so often#and buck just has to duck his head and smile because#there's eddie. they're going to be okay.
