I believe Kako's backstory is either not completed or a twisted version of the truth and should not be taken at face value.

Aidairo loves to make a mystery tell us "their story" the second Nene get familiar with their boundary:

And later reveal that either the story was a lie that's is convinient for the mystery to achieve their goals:

Or a lie that haunt them to their core, until it twist the meaning of their existence:

Considering how Kako's whole story is basically a "don't mess with time. It will ruin you. Human weren't built for it, only I can't handle it." leaving a lot of things vague or quick to be dismissed. I think that while he is revealing many true things about his existence, he is still hiding the full story or twisting the details so that it makes his message to nene "give up, only the guardians should control time," more clear and heavy for her.

I would genuinely be surprised if aidairo doesn't re tell this story later under a new lense, because it feels imcomplete.

We don't actually know what this special thing is after all:

The story want us to believe this special thing is either Mirai, or the hourglass, but I don't quite buy it...

A yorishiro is always central to a mystery story (Tsuchi with the moon rock. Yako with Misaki's scissors. Mei with the sketchbook she was drawn on... so on) and Kako never once mentioned this key or the clock that the key unlock.

EDIT: We also don't know how Kako built Mirai/whose soul she has, since the niece no longer exists.

For as solid as Kako's story is, something about it feels very odd.

Was because they made promises to each other in the maze that when they get a second life, they’ll spend it together — cuz both don’t really have a reason to want a second life (I’M SORRY BUT IT’S TRUE THEIR LIVES SUCK, WILL HAS NO ONE WHO CARES ABOUT HIM AND MONTY JUST SLEEPS AROUND POINTLESSLY)

I think they literally made their first real friend and fought through the maze together with the intentions of getting a second life that they could spend with their new friend

Because why else would they want a second life if they’ll just continue their pointless life where they live then die again? they have a reason now to believe their life could be worth living because they have someone to spend it with

Monty’s outburst was because Will planted the ideas in his head that they could live together happily, so who should he get mad at when he finds out that will never happen? WILLIAM :))

I’d like to think everything after that was Monty being defensive and not wanting to keep Will close anymore because they can’t have a life together anyway, and that’ll only hurt them both more

Him putting Duke behind a wall and picking fights with the misfits is because they can’t all have the second life

He doesn’t really want the life but he also doesn’t want to die, because religious trauma — he thinks he’ll go to hell for being the way he is, blah blah blah

im new to the tadc fandom and im not sure what the popular ships are (I do know about the horrid shipping wars tho lmfao) but my fav is obviously kinger x queenie but as for the fanon ones, zooble x gangler SLAPS!! they are so wholesome and cute and hrrrrrrggghhhh I haven't seen a lot of people talk about it and I NEED to see more and a close third would be pomni x gummigoo and ik ik 'theyre a trauma bond and they don't actually blah blah blah' but I just know in an au they would just be living together peacefully having their occasional advent— well idk what's another word that would be more appropriate... another could say 'but gummigoo is a npc BLAH BLAH' IDC, NONSENSE! they are cute and I stand by it. a close fourth ship I sorta like would be........ very far from the ones I listed; ragatha x jax tho I don't really see them being in a healthy happy loving relationship like MAYBE. I imagine them as those divorced couples that lasted like a year, a good comparison to it would be the dead husband and ghost wife from the story in ep 3, like if I say I ship ragatha x jax I mean it in that way. I know they care about each other in their own...special... way. also the age gap is an ick honestly they just don't work well together realistically but shipping doesn't make any sense anyway

also can I just say I love how so much has improved in wilardo's conclusion like it feels so different yet the same from the other games; the minigame was super fun (aside from me taking like 2 hours)

AND. the fucking way the storytelling is progressin😭😭 THE AMOUNT OF CLIFFHANGERS. LIKE DAWG RUGHT AFTER NOEL TRANSFORMED THE POB CHANGED LIKE THEY THOUGHT THEY WERE SO COOL FOR THAT (they are)
