RIP Kurt you would’ve hated the 21st century </3
Released in 1973, this cool and chill song is largely inspired by Billy Joel's personal experience as a bar pianist.
(Lyrics under the cut)
[Verse 1] It's nine o'clock on a Saturday The regular crowd shuffles in There's an old man sittin' next to me Makin' love to his tonic and gin He says, "Son, can you play me a memory? I'm not really sure how it goes But it's sad, and it's sweet, and I knew it complete When I wore a younger man's clothes"
[Refrain] La, la-la, di-dee-da La-la, di-dee-da da-dum
[Chorus] Sing us a song, you're the piano man Sing us a song tonight Well, we're all in the mood for a melody And you've got us feelin' alright
[Verse 2] Now John at the bar is a friend of mine He gets me my drinks for free And he's quick with a joke, or to light up your smoke But there's someplace that he'd rather be He says, "Bill, I believe this is killing me" As the smile ran away from his face "Well, I'm sure that I could be a movie star If I could get out of this place"
[Refrain] Oh, la, la-la, di-dee-da La-la, di-dee-da da-dum
[Verse 3] Now Paul is a real estate novelist Who never had time for a wife And he's talkin' with Davy, who's still in the navy And probably will be for life And the waitress is practicing politics As the businessmen slowly get stoned Yes, they're sharing a drink they call loneliness But it's better than drinkin' alone
[Piano Solo]
[Chorus] Sing us a song, you're the piano man Sing us a song tonight Well, we're all in the mood for a melody And you've got us feelin' alright
[Verse 4] It's a pretty good crowd for a Saturday And the manager gives me a smile 'Cause he knows that it's me they've been comin' to see To forget about life for a while And the piano, it sounds like a carnival And the microphone smells like a beer And they sit at the bar and put bread in my jar And say, "Man, what are you doin' here?"
[Refrain] Oh, la, la-la, di-dee-da La-la, di-dee-da da-dum
[Chorus] Sing us a song, you're the piano man Sing us a song tonight Well, we're all in the mood for a melody And you've got us feelin' alright

Song first appeared in 1974, on the album Diamond Dogs. I already recommended this one but, EVERYTHING about this songs make it a hit choice for Pride Month Recs.
First it was coupled with Queen Bitch (David Bowie - Queen Bitch (Old Grey Whistle Test, 1972) (youtube.com)) on the B face of the Vinyl, a song sung in gay vernacular about being an active participant of "the gay life".
Secondly, the lyrics make a lot of allusion at being Gender Non-Conforming, Transgender and Non-Binary. They make allusion at the Punk subculture and possibly reference the Drag scene (with the famous Drag Queen Divine).
And last but not least, DAVID BOWIE HIMSELF. David Bowie is a bisexual artist (first come out as gay, then later as bisexual), who used to crossdress and defy gender norms. He was a queer icon that inspired generations of LGBTQIA+ people, from the 70's to nowaday.

My dumb self couldn't read them... like, since I opened that blog.
I'm sorry if you ever send me a rec or an advice or just anything in general, I haven't see it yet.
Will make a warning post when I'll put things back in place. You can still send stuffs, I will gladly read them when I could!
Will tag those kind of post as "personal texts"
Update : will rather use "walking h. texts"
🌟 I drew this to celebrate David Bowie's birthday, he would be 77 years old today. 🌟😭

(lyrics under the cut)
[Verse 1] A heart that's full up like a landfill A job that slowly kills you Bruises that won't heal You look so tired, unhappy Bring down the government They don't, they don't speak for us I'll take a quiet life A handshake of carbon monoxide
[Chorus] And no alarms and no surprises No alarms and no surprises No alarms and no surprises Silent, silent
[Verse 2] This is my final fit My final bellyache with
[Chorus] No alarms and no surprises No alarms and no surprises No alarms and no surprises, please
[Verse 3] Such a pretty house And such a pretty garden
[Chorus] No alarms and no surprises (Get me out of here) No alarms and no surprises (Get me out of here) No alarms and no surprises, please (Get me out of here)
