David Bowie — Life on Mars (4K Remaster)
From the album The Queen Is Dead, in 1986.
(Lyrics under the cut)
[Verse 1] Take me out tonight Where there's music and there's people And they're young and alive Driving in your car I never, never want to go home Because I haven't got one anymore Take me out tonight Because I want to see people And I want to see lights Driving in your car, oh, please don't drop me home Because it's not my home, it's their home And I'm welcome no more
[Chorus] And if a double-decker bus crashes into us To die by your side is such a heavenly way to die And if a ten-tonne truck kills the both of us To die by your side, well, the pleasure, the privilege is mine
[Verse 2] Take me out tonight Take me anywhere, I don't care, I don't care, I don't care And in the darkened underpass I thought "Oh God, my chance has come at last" But then a strange fear gripped me and I just couldn't ask Take me out tonight Oh, take me anywhere, I don't care, I don't care, I don't care Driving in your car I never, never want to go home Because I haven't got one, la-di-dum, oh, I haven't got one Oh, oh
[Chorus] And if a double-decker bus crashes into us To die by your side is such a heavenly way to die And if a ten-tonne truck kills the both of us To die by your side, well, the pleasure, the privilege is mine
[Outro] Oh, there is a light and it never goes out There is a light and it never goes out There is a light and it never goes out There is a light and it never goes out There is a light and it never goes out There is a light and it never goes out There is a light and it never goes out There is a light and it never goes out

Song first appeared in 1974, on the album Diamond Dogs. I already recommended this one but, EVERYTHING about this songs make it a hit choice for Pride Month Recs.
First it was coupled with Queen Bitch (David Bowie - Queen Bitch (Old Grey Whistle Test, 1972) (youtube.com)) on the B face of the Vinyl, a song sung in gay vernacular about being an active participant of "the gay life".
Secondly, the lyrics make a lot of allusion at being Gender Non-Conforming, Transgender and Non-Binary. They make allusion at the Punk subculture and possibly reference the Drag scene (with the famous Drag Queen Divine).
And last but not least, DAVID BOWIE HIMSELF. David Bowie is a bisexual artist (first come out as gay, then later as bisexual), who used to crossdress and defy gender norms. He was a queer icon that inspired generations of LGBTQIA+ people, from the 70's to nowaday.
Bowie because his music literally saved my life
Love you forever

Rebel Rebel by David Bowie, a nowaday underrated song by an icon
7th song (or fist of the face B) of the album of the same name, first album of Japan, released in 1978.
