This piece that I wrote is for all my lovelies that have been through something like this. This idea just came to me one night and I knew I had to write it. So without further ado here is Friends, but Never Lovers

We were friends, just friends, never lovers. I knew that from the start and I told myself to not get attached to him, but he was like nicotine with the way he was so addictive. He was something that I should’ve never gotten involved with but he was also someone I couldn’t stay away from. He seemed to be the only drug I couldn’t quit and looking back on it now I never should’ve been his friend, but I just couldn’t help myself. His green eyes were like emeralds with how mesmerizing they were, his laugh was so contagious you couldn’t help but laugh with him, his smile could light up an entire room more than the sun could, the way he cared for everyone in his life made you fall for him even more, and the way he always knew what to say be it be a bad joke or the best advice he could think of made my feelings for him grow even more. He had his flaws, who didn’t, but they were overlooked by how amazing he was….the problem with all of this is the distance, it’s the feelings that he doesn’t have for me, it’s the insecurities that I hold that push me back, it’s the fact that we are friends, but we will never be lovers. Unrequited love, perfect person at the wrong time, soulmates in another life. Call it what you want but what it really is the world playing one, big, cruel, and sick joke on me. In every way he was perfect for me, but I was never perfect for him and that’s what was lost in translation. So I have to sit here and remind myself….always friends….never lovers...

- is SUPER AWKWARD AROUND YOU LIKE -

- literally took him six fucking months to tell you he’s in love with you

- even when he finally confessed to you it still takes him another six months to find the balls to tell it to you again

- tries to act cool around you during target practice except he gets distracted by you bending over and fucking blasts a hole the size of the Hulk onto the wall

- “professor i didn’t mean -” “i’m not even mad, i’m just impressed”

- professor charles blushes every time he skims through alex’s mind because it’s literally full of teenage hormones and fantasies about his face in between your thighs lmao

- alex is VERY paranoid about his affections

- like it’s not like he’s ashamed of you being affectionate with him but he’s properly terrified of feeling overwhelmed and losing control of his powers and blasting you into fucking road kill

- “are you implying you get turned on from hugs?” “….” “……alex?”

- alex summers is the ultimate stereotype of an overly-protective boyfriend

- “oh my god alex did you get into a fight again???” “…he was looking at you funny” “aLEX HE WAS ASKING FOR DIRECTIONS” “HE WAS LOOKING YOU UP I’M SORRY THAT I ACTUALLY CARE ABOUT YOUR SAFETY”

- he has his cute moments. stares at you with his face flushing red and lacing his rough, calloused fingers through yours and pressing your foreheads together and trying his best to control himself from starting something with you

- “hehe, alex you’re really warm” “…..shut up babe”

- again i will reiterate: he considers you one of the best things he’s ever had since solitary confinement and will literally fucking fight for you 

- “that’s cute and all but i’m not ignoring the fact that you tried to toast bread with a laser” “….seriously?” “seriously, alex. use a fucking toaster”

- when he’s going through a bad drean he pulls you into his chest and wraps his arms around yours and just holds you close and noses his face into your neck and doesn’t let up until he falls asleep

- you’ve told him how much your heart flutters when you see him smile or smirk and he uses it against you every time he’s about to lose an argument

- “…that’s not fair you know i can’t deny you when you do THAT” “get used to it, babe :)”

- there are times when he just rambles on and jokes about dumb stuff like hank’s feet or erik’s smile but most of the time he goes radio silent and doesn’t want to do anything else but just hang around you

- you find it a little strange but when he’s with you he just sits in a corner and reads a book and only looks up in panic when you’re about to leave

- “….i like hanging around you….it feels nice.” “well i’m gonna go and make a sandwich, wanna come?” “….okay”

- likes cornering you and pinning you against the wall and smirking at you just to see your reaction

- you always give him this impassive “seriously alex?” look every time he tries that and he fucking stAMMERS and BLUSHES and he’s like “fuck my life why did i do that now i look like a total fucking loser -” and almost doesn’t realize it when you lean up to him and press a chaste kiss to his lips

- he just fucking stares jaw-slacked at you as you flick his nose and go “i don’t mind you acting like bad boy havok but i think i like my cute dorky alex summers better” and fucking walks off with a sashay to your hips and alex just outright staring at your ass while touching his lips with his fingers 

- he chases you and kisses you so hard you hit your head afterwards lmao
