Probably contains layers of different metals and elements like silicone as needed. And the very centre is the spark and innermost energon like the yolk of the weirdest hardboiled egg you have ever seen.

And they probably don't actually hatch like an egg they just transform out of egg mode one day and never go back. Unless egg is the default alt mode until they scan something...
