“Chuuya wasn’t in Dark Era, why is he in this art??”
wdym, he’s right here 🤨
Did Chuuya ever tell Dazai about the graphite scar though? Does Dazai know about the graphite scar? Had Dazai ever noted the graphite scar before Chuuya was told where it came from? From Higuchi's presence during that scene and the fact that she didn't know who Dazai was in the Guild arc hints at it happening after Dazai has left the PM. Does the number one defender of Chuuya's humanity know about the last little shred of tangible proof there is?

Sleeping at last — Saturn 💔
Beast AU where N survived the events of Storm Bringer in this world and went into hiding again afterwards. The reason Chuuya has so much animosity towards Dazai is because he kept promising they'll go looking for him one day and put an end to him, but Dazai never makes good on that promise.
He always has an excuse, "When I'm executive, I'll have the means to find him.", "Once I'm the Boss." until eventually its just "Later." as he becomes more and more wrapped up in saving Oda. In Chuuya's mind, this get interpreted as Dazai not caring anymore and it messes with his head. He decides that one day he's going to end Dazai too, but not before he makes good on his promise.
Then Dazai dies. Throws himself off a building and makes sure Chuuya wasn't around to prevent it.
He finds out Dazai named him his successor and not only that he left an envelope for him. It contents are N's location. And Chuuya loses it.
After the rampage, after the government subdues him and the Port Mafia- his Port Mafia- gets him out again, Chuuya finds N, has him dragged to headquarters.
This was supposed to be the moment Chuuya finally gets closure, where he finally ends N and prevents him ever hurting anyone else again. Dazai was supposed to be standing at his side when it happened.
But Dazai's not here.
And N can fix that.
So he gets to live, until he does.
Honestly, I can see a pattern here between Rimbaud's death in Fifteen and Oda's death in Dark Era. “The universe is empty and meaningless. Even then, live. There's still beauty to be found in it.”
Do you think Ranpo and Fukuzawa ever had a "You're not my dad!" moment when Ranpo was a still a teen?
Do you think they both just stood there shell shocked as the unspoken part of their relationship, the parent and child bond they share, was brought to light and spoken out loud? And immediately denied.
Fukuzawa never intended to replace Ranpo's father, he never meant to be a parental figure, but he can't deny that part of himself that thinks of Ranpo as his. That saw the lost, naive and desperate boy and felt compelled to gather him close and protect him. The part of him that wants to provide for and nurture Ranpo, not just out of responsibility but out of fondness. The secret feeling he has when he wakes up to Ranpo's noise and excitement, which yes does still tire him to no end, but also has him thinking "Thank God, I found him."
And Ranpo doesn't think of Fukuzawa as his dad per se, he's his boss, mentor, his provider. The man who took the time to understand him, who broke through his wall of isolation and gave him a place to belong when he had nowhere left to go. But he's more than that too, because Fukuzawa didn't just give him a home, Fukuzawa is his home. He doesn't know what he'd do if he lost Fukuzawa and that same admiration and love he felt for his parents is there for him too.
Do you think, Ranpo in with all his powers of observation saw the pain Fukuzawa couldn't hide in the short seconds after and felt the floor go from beneath him?
Do you think it was yet another moment of Ranpo clinging to Fukuzawa, sobbing and begging that he's sorry because he thinks he's about to lose his family again?
He won't though. Unlike the first time, where Fukuzawa had yet to understand their bond and froze, Fukuzawa holds onto Ranpo just as tight and tells his child everything's going to be alright.
Everyone. Do you realize what this boy is begging for? Do you even fathom the weight of what he just asked?
This is the same boy who declared the lengths he'd go to in order to live wholeheartedly.
And now he's begging to die. Just to save his friends. The only people he can call family. Without even an ounce of hesitation.
The devastation in his eyes. The desperation in his voice. I can't take it anymore-
I know there’s a lot of solid angst potential with the concept of BEAST!Dazai meeting canon!Chuuya but also. I picture them crossing paths and Chuuya IMMEDIATELY takes out his phone and calls the Dazai he knows like “don’t freak out but I’m looking at a mf who looks exactly like u”
Dazai: wdym. there’s no one as handsome as me Chuuya: gags Dazai: are u hallucinating bc u miss me so much. is this what this is. u can just say that u know Chuuya: I’m SERIOUS
BEAST!Dazai: Chuuya…? Chuuya, on the phone with Dazai: what the shit he knows my name. is this a joke. are u playing a joke. don’t piss me off Dazai: I genuinely have no idea what ur talking about
Chuuya looking at BEAST!Dazai like. idk if ur like a fan or a stalker of that bastard but pls find smth better to do with ur time. one of him is ENOUGH society does not need more. have a good day (¬_¬)
