Watched Nimona a few weeks(months as of present) ago b/c Netflix put it free on YouTube and it's so fun!
The voice acting is solid. Had me about to cry twice 😭. I couldn't pinpoint everyone's voices until the end when the credits came up; but, then it clicked. Like 'why does he sound so familiar? Who is that? Oh! That's who that is! No way!' The actors and actresses did a wonderful job ☺️
The animation is so pretty and expressive. You could freeze-frame so many scenes and just stare at it. The backgrounds remind me of watercolor and the characters kinda remind me of paper.
The first escape scene reminds me of the Emperor's New Groove which is a win
(opens split screen so I can look up how to spell characters' names correctly)
I like most of the characters honestly. A lot of their motivations make sense to me in some way.
Nimona is a fun character. I like their carefree approach to stuff which is a nice contrast to Ballister and everyone else they have to face off against. It made the serious scenes more sad and it emphasizes the backstory when you realize exactly what was true about the things they told Ballister on the train. (Them talking about just letting people kill them had me tearing up 😭)
I really like Ballister. He's an underdog. And I was not ready for how this movie was going to kick off! Man JUST got his recognition from the Queen and everyone else who's been doubting him, then it gets destroyed a second later 😱 LIKE 🤬! OKAY THEN! Him and Ambrosius are cute though. On that note...
Ambrosius. I like him well enough. I like how his personal feelings for Ballister come into conflict with his job.
Sidenote: I like how it's done here. You'll see a lot of characters have this conflict but they either just met the other person; or the feelings just got reciprocated. But, since Ballister and Ambrosius are written to be already well established (they have favorite spots and know how each other likes their food) it's more impactful.
I honestly love his fake out scene. It's funny but also nice to see what he honestly thinks about everything happening between him and Ballister and the system they're a part of. Which shows how him and Ballister think alike and why they work as a couple.
But I also kinda wish two things happened in this movie:
Nimona and Ambrosius both mentioned how “cutting off limbs, isn't a love language,” and Ballister acknowledges that's how they're trained to react, but it would've been a nice 3 for 3 mention if Ballister said that when Ambrosius follows him out of the diner/bar. Just throwing it back in his face would've been so good and dramatic!
Ngl I wanted Ambrosius to lose an arm. I feel like it would've been dramatic but also kinda symbolic b/c they both lost an arm b/c of the system they were brainwashed by. Also matching disabled boyfriends!
Todd...🤬 you! No, but I thought Todd died during the final battle. Then he lived. 🤬...no, but honestly Todd was a jock douchebag but he was funny. Plus, I can give him credit for stepping toe to toe with Ambrosius b/c he believes that Ballister is a weak point for him ( which is a fair point).
The Director was terrible. Manipulative and unwilling to see reason. She was frustrating in the best way. Using the prophecy and everyone's fear of the unknown and mob mentality is solid evil. And I was happy for her downfall.
...Yes.
OMG I'VE HAD THIS ON REPEAT SINCE I GOT THE NOTIFICATION! It's so beautifully sad. All the longing in his voice, the regrets and heartbreak OOH it's so dramatic!
- I love how he sings “tome”.
-I love how he sings “gain”.
-I love the “grow cold” lines.
THE VISUALS ARE VISUAL-ING!
Him just leaving his library/office and walking into space (to get some space!) is just so cool and kind of a mood tbh. The way it opens like a curtain is just so fitting for Stolas lol
All together I love it ❤️😭✨
So, I watched "The Man In The Iron Mask". And I liked it. I was invested as soon as I saw Leo! So, here are some of my thoughts and things I like/dislike about it.
- Philippe was so sweet! Freaking loved him Those parts where he stares at the moon were just.... 😭. Him and Athos practicing etiquette was nice. I wish the montage was longer and really showed their father-son bond.
-I was rooting for Raoul even when I realized he wasn't going to make it! I felt bad for Christine. I wish she found out about Philippe. Like, when I watched the trailer, I assumed the switcheroo would happen and Philippe would also end up liking Christine.
-Bruh, Louis was awful (Good job Leo!). When he told Christine she was going to hell, I was like 'damn, Louis savage.' Matter of fact, his whole thing with Christine was messed up. I was here for the switcheroo plot!
-I liked Queen Anne well enough. She didn't get a lot of screen time but, I thought her interaction with Philippe was so nice b/c you know she knows who he is. Someone mentioned her and D'artagnan having an affair, and rethinking helped me see it. Like, I liked their love story just fine. It adds an extra layer of drama.
-I loved when a heartbroken and pissed Athos shows up at the castle, ready and willing to cut b*tches down.
-I thought D'artagnan was interesting. His whole thing with Queen Anne was sweet with implied drama. I mostly liked how his morals are conflicted b/c he's aware that Louis isn't such a great king, but he swore allegiance to the crown.
-I loved the masquerade ball scene.
-The backhand from Louis to Philippe was entertaining and immaculate! (Stop hitting yourself Leo😆)
-The All For One, One For All gunfire charge was ✨perfection ✨.
-Louis getting throat punched was hilarious.
-The opening narration was great. And, I want to learn it
-I kinda wish they did more flashbacks. Like when Philippe talks about being arrested or when the King dies and mentions Philippe, I wish there was a flashback or soundbites to show memories/nightmares/frantic thoughts.
“Life Without Black People A very humorous and revealing story is told about a group of white people who were fed up with African Americans, so they joined together and wished themselves away. They passed through a deep dark tunnel and emerged in sort of a twilight zone where there is an America without black people. At first these white people breathed a sigh of relief. ‘At last’, they said, ‘no more crime, drugs, violence and welfare.’ All of the blacks have gone! Then suddenly, reality set in. The ‘NEW AMERICA’ is not America at all - only a barren land. 1. There are very few crops that have flourished because the nation was built on a slave-supported system. 2. There are no cities with tall skyscrapers because Alexander Mils, a black man, invented the elevator, and without it, one finds great difficulty reaching higher floors. 3. There are few if any cars because Richard Spikes, a black man, invented the automatic gearshift, Joseph Gambol, also black, invented the Super Charge System for Internal Combustion Engines, and Garrett A. Morgan, a black man, invented the traffic signals. 4. Furthermore, one could not use the rapid transit system because its procurer was the electric trolley, which was invented by another black man, Albert R. Robinson. 5. Even if there were streets on which cars and a rapid transit system could operate, they were cluttered with paper because an African American, Charles Brooks, invented the street sweeper.. 6. There were few if any newspapers, magazines and books because John Love invented the pencil sharpener, William Purveys invented the fountain pen, and Lee Barrage invented the Type Writing Machine and W. A. Love invented the Advanced Printing Press. They were all, you guessed it, Black. 7. Even if Americans could write their letters, articles and books, they would not have been transported by mail because William Barry invented the Postmarking and Canceling Machine, William Purveys invented the Hand Stamp and Philip Downing invented the Letter Drop. 8. The lawns were brown and wilted because Joseph Smith invented the Lawn Sprinkler and John Burr the Lawn Mower. 9. When they entered their homes, they found them to be poorly ventilated and poorly heated. You see, Frederick Jones invented the Air Conditioner and Alice Parker the Heating Furnace. Their homes were also dim. But of course, Lewis Lattimer later invented the Electric Lamp, Michael Harvey invented the lantern, and Granville T. Woods invented the Automatic Cut off Switch. Their homes were also filthy because Thomas W. Steward invented the Mop and Lloyd P. Ray the Dust Pan. 10. Their children met them at the door - barefooted, shabby, motley and unkempt. But what could one expect? Jan E. Matzelinger invented the Shoe Lasting Machine, Walter Sammons invented the Comb, Sarah Boone invented the Ironing Board, and George T. Samon invented the Clothes Dryer. 11. Finally, they were resigned to at least have dinner amidst all of this turmoil. But here again, the food had spoiled because another Black Man, John Standard invented the refrigerator… Now, isn’t that something? What would this country be like without the contributions of Blacks, as African-Americans? Martin Luther King, Jr. said, ‘by the time we leave for work, millions of Americans have depended on the inventions from the minds of Blacks.’ Black history includes more than just slavery, Frederick Douglass, Martin Luther Kinbg, Jr., Malcolm X, and Marcus Garvey & W.E.B. Dubois. Reblog!!!”

Tony: I’m constantly torn between the urge to be sexy and the urge to lie on the floor and cry
May the 4th be with y'all!
RotS gave me life. Also, I had a thought. So, since the original trilogy was made first, it looks older, more practical right? And, the prequels look more bright, technological. So, when Order 66 happened, it now looks more dystopian.
ugh (with want)
I'm sorry. I hope you feel better. Here's some virtual cookies for you. 🍪🍪🍪🍪. 💜
Life is being a bitch and my eyes hurt from crying
She/Her, 25. I fangirl about various things: books, movies, animes, etc. I'm pretty chill when I'm not a nervous disaster 😅 Nice to meet ya!
