A simple explanation of Gadreel

Is an amazing, deep, controversial character who really is trying his best. As soon as he is free, the first thing he does is answer a desperate prayer. The only lie he tells is his identity (because he’s afraid and ashamed). He’s honest with Dean about healing Sam. He was decieved into doing the wrong thing for the right reasons, but as soon as he realized that he and Metatron were in the wrong, he switched sides and tried to help TFW, and was punished for it when Dean tried to eviscerate him. But he still helped them because if his intense desire to do right. Everyone (except Abner) used him for their own personal gain, which definitely didn’t help his self-worth issues. Even Sam, Dean and Cas hurt him. Dean and Metatron especially used and dehumanized him, making him feel like a broken tool that was discarded. When Sam and Cas found him when he left the Bunker after Dean cut him, the thought that maybe they were there to help him and hear him out hadn’t occured to him. He thought he’d be better off as a dead martyr than a living angel, so he killed himself, in a painful way he disapproved of Metatron using (‘You brainwashed them into blowing themselves up!’) to help save Cas. Because, in Gadreel’s mind, Cas’ life was more valuable ('Healing me will only weaken you.’) Cas was good, and he was not. If someone had reached out to him, listened to his side of the story and, you know, treated him like a person who mattered, things would’ve ended differently for him. ('The stories about me, they are not true.’ 'What happened in the Garden was not my doing!’) People, both characters in the show and fanbase, conveniently forgot how all the other characters have screwed up and made mistakes. But no. Let’s all blame someone niave, angry and afraid, who was coerced into killing Kevin, and regretted it.

Not to mention Tahmoh Penikett and Jared Padelecki and their beautiful portrayal of him. Everything from their posture to their facial expressions was all spot on.

Ugh, I just love him and relate to him and have a lot of feelings regarding Gadreel.

And he also looks like a snacc.
