Silly comic about scenario penalty
I was stressed last time i wanted lwj to bite wwx
Yet again a plotline they know how to write but didn't:
"Mike spends time with El that sparks platonic jealousy of her from a friend of his"
Season 1 Lucas vs Season 4 Will. Lucas is platonically jealous. Will is romantically jealous.
Lucas is jealous because Mike is spending more time with El, which he perceives romantically.
Will is jealous because Mike is spending more time with El, which he perceives romantically.
The romantic nature of the relationship they're jealous isn't what differentiates the nature of the jealousy. Both watch a romantic interaction between them from afar upset - Will in 4x02 at the roller rink and Lucas in 1x03 for the "I understand" scene. So why, then, is Lucas' jealousy platonic but Will's romantic. It isn't. They're identical. Except for one key detail I have strategically omitted.
Mike. Lucas and Will behave near identically. They are sad, gazing from afar, and irritable about the topic, fighting with both Mike and one other friend on the topic (Dustin, El).
But Mike only behaves abnormally in one scenario: Will's. Season 1 is a miscommunication - Lucas thinks Mike is prioritizing El over Will but really, he's just prioritizing Will through El. But season 4 is not that. In season 4, he committedly ignores Will without explanation for a full day before defending that any two friends who didn't see each other for 8 months wouldn't keep in touch during that time.
It isn't romantic of Will to be jealous of El. It wasn't romantic of Lucas and we knew that. Mike is the one who made it out to be romantic because that's the conclusion he jumped to (defend) out of fear. It's just that we, trained by the writers like good little viewers to equate straight relationship to straight, listened to him.
Will acted with Mike exactly like Lucas did and that played as platonic. What happened wasn't that Will behaved differently. What happened was we noticed that something in their relationship was more romantic. We turned to where it was coming from, to see: Mike ..........frantically pointing us to Will.
In season 4 when he defended not keeping in touch, in season 3 when he brought up queerness in defense of an accusation towards Mike and Lucas on Dustin's behalf,
Mike set off our alarm bells. And Mike redirected us. (And ironically, that is what told on him.)

hehe I just wanted to play around with NMJ’s MDZS design and CQL outfit
A friend of mine just sent me some of your art tips and I loved them! Since I was a kid I could draw, but it was always a straight up copy of already finished drawings simply for the pure joy of drawing, but now I wanna draw on my own and I'm finding it very difficult! I'm still trying to figure out an artstyle, and I practice things alone (lips, eyes, nose) and they seem to be okay, but when I try to put them together on a face, it doesn't work, like the eyes is not the previous eyes I've been practicing and such. Do I need to practice the face as a whole? Am I doing something wrong?
Awesome, I’m so glad you like ‘em! Ah shit, look what you’ve done, you’ve made me practice anatomy (jkjk this is affectionate!)
In answer, yes absolutely you gotta practice the face as a whole! Don’t worry, most people start from just practicing individual facial features on their own! It’s super easy to tunnel vision! Those studies will also help you going forward, so it’s not time wasted!
A general disclaimer before I keep going: I went to school for animation and never took a proper anatomy class, so these are all tips and tricks I’ve either picked up along the way or figured out on my own. Take them with a grain of salt!
Ok first I think everyone’s seen a diagram of how to measure where facial features sit on the face so I’ll just copy/paste an image to get that out of the way. ***one thing to keep in mind is how the face is divided into thirds:
**** Important Note: Spend some time studying the skull too! For simplicity’s sake, here are some basic landmark parts of the structure you should be aware of:
Next, there’s three methods of drawing the head that I frankenstein together:
1) The Loomis Method is I think the easiest to start playing with head/face perspective drawings. Using the above method of dividing the head into thirds, we can put that on this super simple head model and rotate it in 3D.
Here’s a great video by Stan Prokopenko that goes into more depth on the method!: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wAOldLWIDSM
2) For musculature, I like referencing the Reilly Method because the round shapes it uses help me understand how different parts squish into each other.
3) For painting/rendering ref, I really like using the Asaro Head because it really helps as reference on how lighting breaks up the planes of the face. (I’m still a ways away from publicly posting most paintings I’ve done tho) No demo for this one because painting takes me 84 yrs
EDIT: This isn’t my painting btw
*** One crucial thing I’d want to point out is that you should also practice drawing heads without painstakingly following measurements and guidelines. 1) everyone’s head/face are different and will have different proportions and 2) you want to get used to drawing without limiting yourself to one method as a crutch! These are all just tools to help you on your journey!
4) As far as simplifying the face goes, the pretty common way I’ve seen/used is to divide the head into two sections: the eyes and brow area, then the area below the cheekbones. This is where the bean face that everyone was mad about in 2015 comes from lololol (we’ve moved on from bean-hate, right? pls?)
One last note: Most of what I’ve posted on my blog has faces with floaty features, so don’t reference my stuff for your own good LMAO
Hope this helps!

My headcanon of Abe when he will grow to be a giant…. And Mihashi won’t grow as much because he’s kind of small from the start (And seeing his father compared to Abe’s, it might be true). Sort of inspired by this amazing megacute fanfic by sayasamax3 in AO3!
Also second time I draw Mihashi troubled by growing Abe (first strip) …… hope this is not getting old yet…. AND YES JUNIORSSSS!! I REALLY EXCITED TO SEE THEM BEING CALLED SENPAI! (////// *)
And no, Abe is not type to console people about their insecurities, even if it’s his dear Mihashi
For Xichengclipse2021 DAY 1: Strangers
POV: You just came back from traveling, tired yet fulfilled. Then you see the most beautiful being, in what essentially is, your backyard. Whatchu gonna do? (A. Marry them; B. Pine for another 15 years)
Btw a little self-indulgent shufu LQR adoring JC dialogue because its what my son deserves.
Byler quote of the day:
Mike: *To El* Are you deaf? I thought we were friends, you know? But friends tell each other the truth. And they definitely don't lie to each other. You made me think Will was okay, that he was still out there, but he wasn't. He wasn't! Maybe you thought you were helping, but you weren't. You hurt me. Do you understand? What you did sucks. Lucas was right about you. All along.
*A mere few seconds later, after El channeled Will on the radio.*
Mike: Was that... Was it...
El: Will.
(I think people forget how much Mike's opinion about El depended on her ability to find Will in season 1. When he thought Will was dead, he insinuates that they're not friends anymore, and that Lucas was right, they should have left her to get sent back to where ever she came from. He only flipped back when he realized Will was still alive, and that she was still of use to them. His opinion of her is so malleable, even later on in the show, when he actually starts to see her as a person. He flip-flops so much, and when you really start to think about it, there isn't much that El does that he agrees with. They have different interests, and don't respect each other much. The common theme in season 1 is that Mike keeps El around to help Will. And that stays more subtly throughout the rest of the seasons.)
(Also, a little post editing note: I do realize in this scene, he just found out his best friend was dead (to his knowledge). It makes sense that he would lash out on her, because he's grieving. This isn't the only scene where this happens, though, and that's the point I'm trying to make.)
