If we die, we die
Tumblr’s falling apart for the 21,329,234th time but I swear to GOD I’ve been here since before Dream Drop Distance came out, and I will be here when Kingdom Hearts 3 comes out. Mark my fucking words
Fic authors have a problem with feedback – or rather, with the lack of it. Fanfiction has a notoriously low ratio of comments to hits, and many of us have expressed our frustration that we can get a hundred, two hundred, five hundred, even a thousand views on our stories, but only a handful of readers will leave kudos, let alone comments.
Unfortunately, this only gets worse for long, multi-chapter stories (aka, the longfics we know, love, and would sell our souls in a second if it meant an update), which also happen to be the stories that authors need the most support to continue and complete. Law of diminishing returns, y’all, and it sucks.
We’re not here to guilt you into leaving comments. We want to address the problem by changing the format, and we need your help to do it.
The goal is to increase the amount of feedback authors get from readers, especially on stories with multiple chapters, and to make it easier for everyone to show how much we love fics. We’re opening a discussion with ao3 to figure out how/if any of these options can be implemented, but first we need options to present!
Ability to leave a form of kudos on every chapter, instead of only once on the entire story: this lets authors know that you’re here and you’re reading their updates, so their hard work isn’t getting tossed into the internet void.
Comment templates: suggested comments that can be customized or posted as-is. Many of us draw a blank or get nervous when we try to think of a comment, so having pre-made options will both increase the total level of feedback and serve as practice, making it easier to leave more in-depth comments in the future.
Upvoting/leaving kudos on comments themselves: positive reinforcement makes giving feedback more fun and rewarding, and it lets the author know that readers are present and agreeing with other comments, even if they don’t leave one themselves.
We’ll contact AO3 to discuss the possibility of adding any of these as native features, and if that won’t work, we’re looking into creating and sharing a user script.
As a reader, what would you like to have? What would you be most likely to use? New ideas, opinions on ideas that are listed here, they’re all good.
As a creator, how would you feel about each of these options? Can you think of other ways of receiving or encouraging feedback?
Pros and cons of these (note: our thoughts on this are discussed in this google doc)
GET THE WORD OUT! Reblog this post, send it to your friends, link to it from your stories. We need as much input and support as possible to get this off the ground.
Feedback makes for happy authors. Happy authors make for more stories. Let’s keep this part of fandom alive!
More details about our thoughts, discussions, and ideas can be found in this google doc.

Lura (our character-illustrator) finished Valariel - a Bachelor of the Drakys-species.
Valariel is my personal favorite of the 10 base-Bachelors/Bachelorettes, because I created him around 7-9 years back. I'm inventing stories with my soon-to-be-wife and Valariel is one of the characters of our stories.
Originally, he is an assassin who uses the magical element "shadow" to stay unseen and to travel fast. His master raised him to be a weapon without feelings. That's why its hard to get some other facial expressions from him beside of his normal expression.
In Magical Harvest, he's of course (officially) not an assassin, because we don't have killing in our game, but what's in your imagination - that's onto you.
His description: Valariel lives outside the city in the dark forest and avoids being seen by others. The brother of Neria is strongly connected to the darkness, so it is no surprise that he belongs to the Obsideran Pact. Since he reveals little of himself, he is difficult to judge. However, he is described as cool, distant and, above all, dangerous.
He is a Drakys who is convinced that his kind descended from the black dragons. Therefore, he can be found in many different places searching for information on this subject.
Although he prefers to keep to himself, he also seems to be around Azriel quite often. Is there a connection between them?
Is he interesting enough for you?
„Jack... What at the cursed hells want that girl from us?“ „I don't know, my dear. Just always smile and nod.”
Mhmh... that’s remember me at this guys...
I love that Salazars Basilisk was corrupted by Tom. It's great! :D
The Basilisk wasn’t the only creature left by the founders…
Godric would’ve left behind a Nemean Lion to defend the school and children from the Basilisk and those who would dare to threaten the school
Helga left a badger. A honey badger. An immortal honey badger. It’s still shuffling around the Castle, driving off the smaller magical creatures like redcaps from the forest.
Rowena would’ve left behind a highly intelligent Eagle, much like the Owl from the Library episode of Avatar The Last Airbender, to guide her students and defend the school.
Salazar left behind the Basilisk to defend the school from Muggles potentially invading the school and the only reason why it targets Muggleborns is that The Basilisk senses Muggle blood and Tom corrupted the beast
Can I date one? I mean... hot dragon men. Who am I to say no?
Hey Magical Harvesters!
Want to know a little bit more about the different races in Hyldena?
In our Demo you can play two characters. One is a Drakys, and the other one is a Ki-Shen. This week we will talk a little about the Drakys.
Drakys resemble dragons, with their horns and scaled tails. They are the largest race from the five races in Hyldena. Drakys also have scales on their skin, but it depends on each individual how much. Their skin gets darker from arm to hands and from legs to feet.
Legends say, they were descendants from the black dragons, because they first appeared after these dragons disappeared. Because of that, a lot of people were scared of them, believing they could shift into a real dragon and burn down villages. It took time for this belief to vanish, and after they got accepted, the Drakys moved from the mountains to the cities.
Because of their history, most Drakys prefer to be left alone, and don't like to get involved with the other races. They’re a proud and stubborn race, so it is hard as a Non-Drakys to have a friendship with one. If they call someone a friend, they’re very protective and loyal to this one.
The Drakys are more likely to be found in the Obsideran Pact, as they are naturally more gifted in the use of dark magic. However, they are not only valued for their talent with dark magic in the Obsideran Pact, but also for their alchemical talent. But not everyone appreciates this, and some still believe that they make poisons rather than useful alchemical potions.
