there is something so soft about the thought of newt with a black girl. like, I don't know, something about it is just so authentic, like, I can see it so clearly in my mind, and I don't have the time right now to make a full out vision board about it, but I will in the future, trust😌🤞🏽.

my very first thought/vision, though, being like...

imagine you're taking the time out of your day to make him a little flower crown because like, hello, you're in a glade, and there's dandelions and little daisies everywhere, so of course you're making a flower crown. but then the scene pans up, and we see reader's hair, which in my vision, would definitely be something really thick and really coily - so i'm thinking maybe like 3b-4c.

and then we see newt taking the time out of his day to braid/plait it down, weaving more little flowers or scarves or yarn or whatevernot into it, making light conversation with you and adding in short but sweet little praises you almost don't catch, but you do, because he only speaks to you like this🥹. and with the braiding, whether it be because you've taught him to do this or it's a skill he's developed on his own over time, both are very cute and intimate/soft possibilities to imagine, but yeah.

and I also think he would be so fond of tracing over your skin, like, every scar, every birthmark, just whatever he can get his hands on, he's touching/caressing lightly, pressing kisses down, admiring from a distance ...

speaking of admiring from a distance!!...

I definitely think he would just stare at you all of the time. yes, because he's the second-in-command, so he kind of has to have a watchful eye over everyone, and also, yes, because he is in love with you. but a third reason being that he genuinely just loves admiring the way your skin glows under the sun.

whether you be coated in water or sweat or whatever, he's just in a captured state of awe at the golden cast that you have, and he also loves that tan you get - he fucking adores the increase in melanin that you adhere. he loves your skin, he loves your complexion, he- *gasp*

he loves your eyes!!...

he loves how deep of a shade of brown that they are because they're not like his or thomas', where they're light ass caramel, whiskey, fucking whatever's going on there. your eyes are deep, like sweet chocolate, like the soil he works in, like damp wood under fresh rain - their own galaxy of black and golden flecks that he'd prefer to get lost in all day and all night for the rest of his life if he could.

and he loves your lips; he is addicted to kissing you. he's addicted to the softness, the plush/plumpness, how your kisses may just completely envelop him, wrap him up whole. your lips, your SMILE, AAAAAH!! he cannot get enough of it, he is constantly doing whatever he can to see that grin, to hear that cackle - he is constantly lifting you up into the air by surprise, he's tickling you and touching you whenever he can at random, he's telling fucking lame ass corny jokes, he's hitting you with pet names that are just so...

they're almost overcompensating, but at the same time, they sound so nice coming out of his mouth (just in general, of course, but with that accent of his...😻). shit like "darling" and "sweetheart" and "my love" and it's all only reserved for you (I mean yeah, you are the only girl, but still, even if you weren't, I guarantee you'd only be hearing these petnames from him, so whatever).

and I know this isn't really a thing that's touched on or prevalent in the maze runner universe, like,,, i've never really seen any signs of racism or anything, but just to be fucking clear...

bro is throwing a fit, a goddamn tantrum if and/or when anyone tries to villainize or demonize you simply just because you're black. and of course , I imagine he's like that regardless because, hello, jeff and alby are close to him as well, but again, he'll be damned if there's ANY form of sly comments or discriminatory behavior going on in this fucking glade (like c'mon, that's fr the last thing needed given the circumstances). ESPECIALLY towards you, and if anything, ENCOURAGES you find comfort and community with those who are black as well if that's what's wanted.

I guess think of it as like that thing in in the hunger games, books where suzanne collins pretty much only portrays all of her black characters as very soft, very caring/loving, they're not demonized or made out to be violent/scary/tough or given the "strong soldier with no feelings only action who somehow takes care of everyone™" trope just because they're black and because of how history is. that's kind of how I would view it here as well, like, I feel like the same principles would apply.

and actually, on this topic a little bit more - deviating from the "soft sweet newt with a black gf" thing I was doing lol - I actually kind of do have this headcannon where, because of the fact that the memories of who was put into any type of maze were literally being wiped, I feel like even if these boys and girls were being raised a *coughs* certain type of way😀... that shit is getting erased along with the rest of whatever the fuck was in or being put into their heads before.

not to mention, they get sent into these mazes with so many different people from all over the world, so I imagine that "cultural difference" doesn't even become a thing. it's really only ever acknowledged in the way of like, "yeah, that guy has an accent lol... anyways😁!" like, nobody gives two shits, nor has time to act on such even if they did.

ANYWAYS, back to the regularly scheduled program💀✋🏽...

I really do think... *smiles while thinking cuz i'm geeked asf writing this lmao* ... I really do think that newt would bring a sense of intimacy and cherishment to - even just a friendship, tbh! - but also, of course, a relationship. maybe something of which you never would have thought possible given everything y'all are up against.

and I also think that you would bring him such an overlining sense of peace that he just can't really find anywhere else. or maybe he can, but it's not like the peace of being with you. it isn't the same, hence why (controversial take here✋🏽🙄✋🏽) he may not cherish them as much. not to say he doesn't at all, but there's definitely a difference in his demeanor and overall being when you're not around, or when he doesn't hear you, or have you in his line of sight, versus the opposite.

and I do think it is something that would last through everything. it would last through the maze. it would last through the w.c.k.d. compound. it would last through the scorch. it would last through minho's kidnapping, it would last through right arm, it would last through the last city, and it would last up to his inevitable death.

it would remain in the memories of those small touches and passionate kisses. the words he'd spoken to you full of love and adoration for every trait you had and for you as a person. in every smile and laugh. in every clear sunny sky. in every drop of water. in every dandelion and daisy, in every braid or loc you did, in every gust of wind,,,

and even then, even through the last stages of the flare infection, all that would be plaguing his mind would be you, and thomas, and all his other friends, and how sure he was on the fact that you were gonna make it to the safe haven. and that even if he wasn't there with you, you would be okay. and because, regardless of his death, his love for you was always gonna linger. it would last beyond.

But like I said, him finding someone hot doesn't really go anywhere. He doesn't do/say anything about, nor go out of his way to force things, especially when there's no prior connection/feelings there.

On that note, I feel like for him to have a crush on you (reader), two things would need to be an order; You'd have to attract him one way or another. Like, there's gotta be something about you that makes him have that, "Oh, she's fine as hell, I gotta talk to her." mindset towards you, even if he'd have yet to act on it. And, there's gotta be, like I said, a prior connection.

Or, you could get lucky, and a very specific set of circumstances could spark something up between y'all. He's not opposed to a meet-cute😻.

If y'all were already friends/close, he'd deny👏🏽deny👏🏽deny👏🏽 having feelings for so long. Not towards you, but towards himself. Now, all of the sudden, crossing the street is a whole ordeal; checking for cars is routine now, and whether you like it or not, he's got a hand wrapped around your wrist and is tugging you along gently with an alertness that both amused and perplexed you. And at school, he's now taking any free time he may have to actually go looking for you instead of your paths crossing due to natural coincidence, just to act as though he had no time at all to waste with you, and would pester you at your locker whenever he did spot you.

And, as much as he hated the way his hands would clam up and how his heart would beat out of his chest and how he practically had to force himself not to look for your reaction to every single scene of the movie he picked, he was insistent on having a specific schedule for going out to the movies now. And no, he'd never, ever let you pay, even when you really should've and definitely could've.

Say if he hadn't known you beforehand tho, and y'all met through some sort of meet-cute or whatever,,, him starting to like you would be a little easier of a process for him.

Something he wouldn't be so against because there's "nothing" to ruin or fuck up besides his chances with you, so now he can pretty much just focus on not screwing that up.

He's way quicker to drop hints (not saying he's any smoother with it, but that's not gonna stop him from doing it lmfao cuz who finna check him😗😹).

It's things like really obvious (almost bad) flirting, and teasing that isn't in the same way as he might do with his regular friends. whats the method you found to work the most for you?

it wouldn't be right if I didn't (obvs lol), but unfortunately,,, none of them💀. I know, depressing, right?

but, in all seriousness, this isn't me saying that I've literally tried every single last method there is out there, but again, I like to be very transparent about these sorts of things,,,

they have all equally not worked lmfaooo😹💔.

I've tried/done a lot of methods over time (I've been shifting for about 4-5 years now, but haven't shifted yet), and none of them have done anything for me whatsoever. I mean, to this day, I haven't even gotten any of what people call "symptoms" - which, I personally think are just signs your body is falling asleep, not actually shifting💀✋🏽. I feel like shifting doesn't feel like anything, it kinda just,,, happens, yk? - so I can't really offer up anything that I would say is the "best" or what "works".

although (because again, I know this is kinda depressing and I don't want to, like, crush your hopes lmao), I feel like what's best for me is to try and stick to methods that revolve around sleeping, nighttime, no outside distractions or needs type of vibe. unfortunately, I live in an environment where there's a lot of negativity a lot of the time (mentally, emotionally, and physically) and I have no clear path or way out, it feels like, and my AuDHD does not at all help in the focus department💀🥲✋🏽 (I've never been able to mediate, lucid dream, none of that stuff, and I've accepted that), and the most I often experience is highly vivid dreams.

so, with that, I feel like my best attempts and my best interests lie in sleep methods, especially the ones where it's like "that point between awake and asleep" and "sleep paralysis",,, I slip into those states rather occasionally and have throughout my whole life, and I know how to trigger them, so rn, my intention has been set on mastering getting into and staying focused in those states so that I can then move onto shifting from those states, you know what I mean?

but hey, if anyone else has any advice for me or the asker here, (or any readings hehehe, I am currently practicing tarot myself, and I'm sure others are, too, so you're welcome to practice on me because I'd sure love some guidance right about now lmfao), definitely lay it on me, I'm open and happy to hear it.

𝐦𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐞 𝐚𝐬 𝐚 𝐰𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐞 :

I give the movie a solid 8.5/10. the only reason it's not a full 9-10/10 is because of two things;

a.) the pacing was crazy, like, it kind of overstimulated me? not in a bad way, exactly, but it definitely made it hard for me to focus while being slung through, like, ten different emotions every ten seconds. so much so, that when the movie ended, I felt nothing💀 (I was mad/hype/in my feels later, ofc) but like... after everythingggg, I felt very numb and needed a second longer than usual to recollect.

b.) everyone needed to take several high dose chill pills. like, am I the only one who feels as though certain character arcs/developments were erased? and that everyone needed to just sit tf down and t a l k fr? idkidk, don't press me✋🏽😃✋🏽.

other than that, solid movie and I'm so, so, excited for the next one, and I can't wait to start writing fanfic and make a spider-sona (or two...or three or four or five💀-).

the soundtrack is so fire !! straight heat🔥, not one bad track, just banger after banger fr😻😆. when I give it my second watch (cuz no, I didn't watch it again yesterday like I said, I got busy, it's halloweekend, give me a break lol), I'll definitely list some of my faves from the track.

to be honest, though, I don't know what I expected. of course atsv had some heat. so did the first movie ! so I expect beyond the spider-verse to deliver again.

visuals... they ate down for the most part, I was totally expecting that. I only have one, eensy-weensy little pet peeve, and that's the way gwen's world/coloring is done. personally, it's just not my cup of tea, I didn't really vibe with it, which made it hard for me to enjoy a lot of her home world/dimension scenes. and ofc, it's just my opinion. if you liked it, awesome. I don't expect to start something or like... have the whole artstyle be changed, that's not what I'm saying.

I just wasn't messing with it, and that's totally okay :). everyone else was *💋* perfect, and my faves definitely had to be our miles' (y'know, 1610!miles) dimension, pavitr's, hobie's... okay, so, basically, everyone else's but gwen's (y'all are going to start to notice a theme here, btw🥴💀). but, if anyone has some niche facts or interpretations on why her world was colored as such, I'd love to hear them :).

(minus the spider-duties, ofc) I was deeply/heavily relating to his struggles. having all of these different things running through your mind at once, all things imperative for a good future/outcome. and then the constant stress of worrying about/for all of this different shit. especially the family bits, him just trying to do right by them but also needing s p a c e hit home mad hard😭.

and then, omg, all of these people telling him all of these different things... how he, A TEENAGE BOY, has to make all of these life altering (some life ending) choices for MULTIPLE realities, including his own ?? have the adults in the building (movie) lost they whole entire minds?! anyways, sorry, lemme chill out. this is supposed to be about miles💀.

as usual, I loved him and his personality like, truly resonated with this awkward swag vibe he has going on (and have since the first movie) and I just-...

he's pookie, fr, and I wish the world and the ppl who claim to love him in it so deeply would act like such😭💋. and he was so, so, so real for dissing peter (b. parker) every time he'd try to talk because bro, he was such a snitch, idcidc💀. and then real again for the whole, "everyone keeps tryna tell me how my story is supposed to go. no offense, but I audibly gasped when she called mr. and mrs. morales by their first names😃. like girl🥴- ! and then this whole, "I like you but actually lol no I don't because I'm lowkey with hobie, but no, I'm not." thing she's doing with miles? either miss girl is terrible at social cues, orrrr😗... she's an ass🤷🏽‍♀️. sorry but that wasn't cute, like if I were miles, I would just have to let gwen go, I mean, she even said it herself;

gwen deserved so much better from her father. sure, he came around towards the end, but where was the unconditional love and support that a parent is supposed to give, regardless of anything else? like, I was wholeheartedly shook to my core when gwen told him she was spider-girl, and his response was to arrest her.

sir...?! if it were me, I'd take all my shit from my room and never speak to that man again. like, oh 'ight, that's how you feel? I'm out here essentially doing your job after having to deal with the murder of my best friend (which you blamed me for, mind you !) and you want me in jail? still?? even after finding out I'm your lil' princess baby girl a.k.a. your daughter, bitch ???

sorry, but I'll say it again, my dad would never see me again 'cept when I'm busy being spider-girl on the tv😹. and just in general, poor gwen fr, like, I truly felt it when spider-woman swooped into the scene in the start of the movie, and gwen's immediate response was to go, "can you adopt me?" and like, sure, "sHe wAs jOkInG/bEiNg aWkwArD" but, coming from a girl who wished she'd had better parents...

let's just acknowledge that she's voiced by the queen, ms. issa rae😻 !!! like she ate down, I don't care what anyone has to say. now, onto her actual character, she was so honorable for taking gwen in. like wow, I wish someone would swoop into my life, via sick motorcycle and sweet webs, and snatch me up into a better life🤩. and then further advocating for her (gwen) and her actions throughout the movie, even though it was risky?

she's so amazing (as all spider-people tend to be, harhar, puns). and yes, it was unfortunate when she couldn't do much for gwen upon miguel finding out what had been done and yada-yada, but she did all she could/agreed to/said she would do. She stood on her word, and that's all that matters🤷🏽‍♀️.

honestly, I don't have much on her except for the fact that I remember thinking she was pretty sick, so yeah :).

um, I don't... dislike him, I guess? but I definitely don't like him, nor am I attracted to him. I kind of don't get/understand that, but to each their own.

b u t... I do wanna say one thing because I hope that once I do say it, I start seeing a bit of a change/more of it...

I've read some miguel fanfiction, both before and after watching the movie. not saying I scoured the depths of tumblr for it or anything, read every last piece of writing on him there is to exist. that's not the case. but, from what I have read, y'all didn't get his character right imo. some aspects, sure, but his whole persona has been completely misconstrued. misinterpreted.

he's not this extra stoic, leader, jason todd-type/esque dude. to me, that man gave awkward and anti-social. I'd even go as far as to say he might've been a little autistic coded, but again, as always, that's just me ✋🏽😗✋🏽. and sure, yes, there was stoic behavior, which comes along with being rather awkward and potentially on the spectrum. and I'm not at all denying that he's a badass, he totally is.

but outside of that, and outside of him being super aggro towards miles, any scene of him was either him keeping to his lonesome unless absolutely necessary. self-isolating (which can be moreso due to trauma/other mental troubles rather than autism), and wanting nothing to do with anything he wasn't comfortable with (and I definitely wanna say he didn't want to be leader of anything/in a position of power, that's just how shit lined up for him, and it's just like... what can you do🤷🏽‍♀️?).

he was consistent with his information, both giving it and explaining deeper. he didn't like to be interrupted while doing so. and there was that one moment where talking to lyla (lila? lyla?¿) where he said something like, "do the explaining thing that do you do."

"what thing?"

"wha-😃? what do you mean, 'what thing?' the information explain-y thingy😐🤨."

and it's not even the only time where him and lila have had this awkward (but cute, ngl) dynamic with each other. anyways, whatever, I could just be talking out of my ass and being contradictory (becauss he is stoic but he isnt but he is-?¿), but-

through context clues, though, I was happy when he sided with miles/supported his journey to do whatever he felt it was best to do. and how he quit being apart of... what was it called, the spider-society? I-... and then at the end when he shows up to help gwen and them help miles. also, hello, the friendship between him and pavitr is so cute, I live for that😭.

also, his suit kicks ass. I thought the spikes and the fact that he fights with a guitar was a very nice touch, and I really dig how when miles was like, "how are you even cooler under the mask?" he's like, "I was this cool the whole time😌.

like okay, periodt, love that for you, king✨️. like shiiii, I believe it🥴😻. also, is it canon that him and gwen were together? or is it a friends with benefits type of deal? who knows, who cares. I don't >:) (I will being writing fanfiction about him).

also, I thought it was so funny how he's "perfect" lmao. he fr achieved that healthy, work-life-spider-man balance. truly peaked😌✨️. also his theme...!! the cultural tune implemented into it !!! what a bop, an absolute jam, a certified banger. I also really vibed with his spider-suit, like, the colors and incorporations clashed so well together, and just the design itself was so...💫sparkly💫, and the way he used his webs??

again, I adored it ! I have no clue what the arm cuffs (??) at the ends of them are called (plz let me know, because I know they're important/cultural, I believe🙏🏽), but once again, beautifully done and amazingly executed. but omg I adore the creativity of this, holy shit dude !!!! personally, I've always resonated with freddy being on the more creative side of things (much like the other job ideas you listed), so flight attendant never crossed my mind ! on that note...

you can't tell me freddy wouldn't be absolutely charming and rizzing up all of his passengers and co-workers😙🤭. and he likes to make a show of doing the whole 'make sure you fasten your seat belts, and this is how to work your oxegyn masks' thing, you know what I'm talking about?

and handing out snacks would be this whole other ordeal, he'd be launching them bitches across the isle if he missed someone or would be settling small disputes with his horribly timed comedy. and babies? yeah, they don't cry on his flights, he's making sure of it, making faces and entertaining them (other attendants are constantly trying to work shifts with him because of this). he gives older kids tours of what he's allowed to show them, telling elderly folk they don't look a day over twenty, all of that shit.

and don't let him work first class !! he's absolutely clapping back at all of the snobby folk (it's a wonder he still has his job), and then on the occasions where they're the nice rich type, bro is popping wine bottles with them, indulging in their life stories, cracking an immense amount of jokes and making MASSIVE tips cuz freddy freeman is likeable in EVERY universe, including yours, idc, I said what I said...

plus, he's flying. he's doing what he always dreamed to do; he's in the sky, free and seeing all of the tiny people, places, and things below him. night, day, clear skies, rainy clouds, it doesn't matter. the shakiness of the turbulence and the sound of a jet engine can be drowned out with earbuds, he can kick back and relax after a long shift, it. does. not. matter. the downs are worth it because he's up.
