Season 11 angst, ANY pairing you want!!!
This is great for the mood I’m in, so…
Cole’s eyes were burning. They seemed to be burning a lot lately. Maybe he was just…too warm. Too used to Zane’s chill. He drew in a shaky breath as another wave washed over him.

Is it Zane?
By the time Kai and Lloyd reached the city, it was already sundown. The journey was long and exhausting, and Kai knew the city was the perfect place to rest and find shelter. They reached the border of the city, and Kai noticed how… broken it looked.
Nobody was around, the buildings’ paint was faded, some cars were tipped over, trash laid around the thoroughfare, and a thick layer of smog hung just above the towers.
“Where is everybody?” Lloyd asked, kicking a dusty water bottle down the road.
“I don’t know…” Kai lied. He very much knew they were hiding inside their houses, living a lie, or, rather, dead, their corpse laying somewhere to decay.
“Hmm…” Lloyd looked around.
There were Mutations lying around, dead, the smell of blood strong in the air. A police car was heading their way down the road, and Kai winced, looking at Lloyd’s arm. He was going to die if they didn’t cover the infection.
“Lloyd,” he murmured, “We should… find shelter.”
Lloyd nodded. “I… we should go in one of the buildings!” he exclaimed.
“Yeah,” Kai agreed, looking around once more. The police car parked across the street from them, and Kai quickly ushered Lloyd to the building nearby. “Stop right there!” a voice proclaimed.
Kai turned, keeping Lloyd behind his back. A female officer was walking towards them, followed by two other; a big bulky male, and another scary, smirking female.
“Who do you think you are, walking around the city unprotected. You’re supposed to be at your house…” the first woman mumbled, stopping front of Kai. She wore bright, rose red lipstick and strands of blond hair stuck out from underneath her hat.
“Err… yeah… we were on our way out…” Kai replied, narrowing his eyes.
The female looked to Lloyd, behind him, then back up at the teen. “Let us take you, then,” she murmured, “It would be much safer.”
Her voice sent chills down Kai’s spine, and he did not trust her… especially after figuring out about the Mutations.
“We shouldn’t… we can’t… listen, I have to find my sister,” Kai exclaimed, tired of lying.
“Your sister?” The female raised a sharp eyebrow. Her voice sounded she was losing patience, “Sorry to tell you, but she is probably dead…” The two police next to her chuckled.
“Wha-? No! She’s not dead! I know it!” Kai snapped.
“Ok, what does she look like?” the blonde female asked.
“Black hair, bangs, same eyes as me…” Kai stepped back, “Have you seen her?”
The police female hesitated. She turned to the female next to her. “Ultra, tase him,” she ordered.
“Yes, Harumi,” Ultra took out her taser and smirked at Kai, approaching him.
“W-what? Wait, what are you doing?!” Kai snapped, worriedly. He and Lloyd both stepped back, his eyes widening.
Before Harumi could answer, the walkie-talkie at her side buzzed and a man voice spoke, “Harumi, we found the criminals, we need you immediately.”
The blonde female frowned in disappointment, then waved a dismissive hand at Ultra. “Coming, sir, give me your exact location,” she replied into the walkie-talkie.
Ultra pouted, stepping away from Kai. She turned and walked back to the police car, disappointed.
Kai looked back at Lloyd, who trembled, and grunted at the pain in his arm.
Harumi looked to Lloyd, then grabbed his arm, pulling him to her.
“Hey, let him go!” Kai spat, grabbing Lloyd’s other arm, gently.
She ignored him, and stared at the black spikes emerging from Lloyd’s arm. “He’s mutated… Killow, get Ultra out of that damn car!” She looked at the male police.
“Yes, ma'am!” Killow answered, and ran to the car.
“Harumi? Harumi! We need you, NOW! the criminal is fighting back!” the man in the walkie-talkie spoke.
Harumi let go of Lloyd and spoke back, “Sorry, repeat that location, sir?” she asked, her voice softer.
Lloyd ran behind Kai, and, as Harumi turned away from them, Kai nudged the kid before picking him up and sprinting away from the scene.
Apparently, Harumi noticed, for she called after them, “HEY! STOP! Killow, Ultra, what are you doing?! He’s getting away!”
“What do we do?” Lloyd whispered as Kai ran and hid in an alley.
Kai crouched down. “Shhhh…” He hid behind a dumpster, setting Lloyd down behind him, “Stay quiet…”
The police car drove passed the alley they were in, and Kai sighed in relief, looking at Lloyd, who looked down.
“What were they going to do to me?” he asked, quietly.
“I don’t know, but I don’t think I want to know,” Kai replied, then added, “Don’t worry, Lloyd… I’ll protect you.”
Lloyd looked at him, his eyes narrowing.
Kai stood, helping the child to his feet, then headed to the back of the building they were next to. “Let’s try and avoid the police, then,” he muttered.
Although Kai didn’t understand. He thought the police were supposed to be helpful, and friendly… but these seemed so impatient and rude. Maybe they were angry with him being out of his home. Maybe they didn’t want him to say anything about the Mutations.
“Let’s go in this building,” Lloyd pointed to a short, pale gray tower with broken windows and a big metal door.
“Okay,” Kai nodded. The two went inside the building, and were immediately greeted with a musky, old smell, and a slight hint of blood. Lloyd scrunched up his nose. “Ergh… this doesn’t smell nice…” he mumbled.
“Well, they probably all smell like this,” Kai sighed. He looked up at the stairs in front of them. Drops of dried blood were on every cold, gray step, and it looked old and cracked.
“There’s no reason to not try,” Lloyd whispered.
Kai nodded, and started up the steps. He reached the top and turned the corner, just in time to run into a Mutation. It screeched and tackled him to the ground.
“Kai!” Lloyd screamed.
Kai took his gun out and shot the Mutation’s face, quickly. It stumbled back, screaming, and Kai continued to shoot until it was dead. The fresh, smell of blood stung his nose, and he gagged, stumbling a bit.
“Kai! Are you okay?” Lloyd asked, running over to him. Kai looked at him, and smiled. “I’m okay…I didn’t get hurt,” he replied.
Lloyd smiled back, but it quickly vanished. He winced, and grunted, grabbing his infected arm. “Oww…” he mumbled.
Kai frowned, and regained his balance. He walked down the hall, Lloyd following him slowly. They turned the corner and saw another flight of stairs. “Should we go up?” Lloyd asked.
Kai nodded. “Let’s go.”
They walked up the stairs, and walked down the other hallway. Doors lined the walls, but Kai didn’t want to go into the rooms, not just yet.
He was too afraid, he had to admit.
He was just about to turn a corner, when he heard Lloyd yelp, and grunt. Kai turned and saw another teenager, one with his hands around Lloyd’s neck. He looked angry.
“Hey!” Kai snapped, “Put him down!”
The teen turned, and dropped Lloyd on the floor, who fell over, groaning weakly.
Before Kai could do anything, the teen narrowed his eyes, adjusted the mask on his face, and advanced towards him, grabbing him and pinning him to the wall. Kai gasped.
This teen didn’t look friendly.
He looked ready to kill.
