heya ik we're not moots but tell me somethign and i'll draw it (preferrably epic or mcyt or like. Actual things that exist. Butttt pop off do anything)

We're mutuals now :D

I know mcyt a lot better than epic tbh, for epic possibly Aeolus? She is my favorite character and gets no art 😞

Aaaand for mcyt how about Cleo and the Ghost of Bdubs horse? Or possibly Grian's insanely excessive welcome back gift?

I Did Some Museum Sketches Yesterday To Practice Drawing Clothing Folds!

I did some museum sketches yesterday to practice drawing clothing folds!

Fun story this little girl, about eight years old, came up to me while I was drawing and said "I like your drawing you're real good" in a really strong southern accent then just turned and ran away before I could say thank you :) Now its going on the list of best praise I have ever received.

Funguary Day 4: Morel

Morel refers to many species of fungi, so for this day of the challenge I've chosen what is in my opinion the coolest morel, the BURN MOREL.

Funguary Day 4: Morel

The mycelium of the burn morel can lie dormant for up to 50 years, only growing fruiting bodies after the forest has been ravaged by a wildfire. Scientists have yet to discover a definitive reason for the mushrooms blooming after a fire disturbance. Some believe that it's due to a change in soil chemistry after burning, or an influx of nutrients released by the heat that the flames produce.

Witches Cap Fungi

Mushroom of the Week No. 1

The witches cap mushroom, or Hygrocybe conica, starts off a vivid red-orange with patches of yellow. As it ages it slowly turns black naturally, or bruises black due to injury. This is actually one of the most helpful factors in identification, though the fungi itself is not sought after for its edibility. It cannot be cultivated in labs presently, suggesting that it requires something special from its environment, possibly a mycorrhizal relationship. For this it needs to be investigated further.

Funguary Day 18: Turkey Tail

Ancient China and Japan commonly used the Turkey Tail mushroom in healing in medicine. In modern day medicine the use of Polysaccharide-K, extracted from T. versicolor, is considered safe for use as a cancer treatment in conjunction with other cancer treatments. PSK has been studied in clinical research for various cancer and immune deficiencies but as of 2022 its effectiveness remains inconclusive.

Mushroom fact of the week!

The white spots viewed on the fly agaric are actually not a part of the cap at all!

Many fungi’s fruiting bodies form inside a small sac, which when it breaks open becomes the universal veil. It's actually pieces of this sac that stick to the cap of the fly agaric becoming the appearance of white spots! If you were to touch the cap the spots would wipe off quite easily

Funguary Day 23: Fairy Ring Mushroom

Different countries across Europe have varying folklore and myths about fairy rings

English+Celtic: In English and Celtic folklore fairy rings were created by fairies and elves dancing in a circle. It was said that if humans joined in the dance the fairies would punish them, and make them dance in the circle until they passed out from exhaustion

German: Things in German folklore took a more sinister turn as fairy rings were actually known as witches rings. It was believed that they were a place where witches would dance on Walpurgis night, a spring celebration six months before halloween

Austrian: It was said that fairy rings were created when dragons burned them into the forest floor with their fiery tails

There are many more myths about fairy rings, from being portals to other worlds, to being used as dinner tables for fairies, to being good luck and a sign of a fairy village underground.
